Part 11/365: One small thing that made me smile today
It was an ordinary Thursday. I had some errands to run and, as usual, I took an online taxi. A funny yet sweet experience happened on my way home. I’d booked an online taxi, and halfway through the journey, the driver asked my permission to stop at a coffee shop with a drive-thru. Without a second thought, I agreed.
Just before it was his turn to order coffee, he asked me something. I didn’t quite catch what he said, so I asked him to repeat the question. He asked me what kind of coffee I wanted.
Actually, I was surprised to hear that, but I tried to hide my surprised expression. He repeated his question, and he made it clear that he wanted to buy me a cup of coffee. He said he wanted to treat me as thankful. I thanked him, but I refused his treat. I said that I did not drink coffee. He looked so surprised and disbelieving that someone did not drink coffee.
He thought I was just embarrassed to accept his treat. But I assured him that I really do not drink coffee. In the end, I said that I am fasting and it succed to make him giving up immediately.
I knew he just wanted to show me kindness by treating me to a coffee, and he seemed very sincere. This moment would be unforgettable for me.
