Kaidou Shun was bored. He’d been doing work for his cram classes for hours and if he had to look at one more math problem he might just throw himself into the hands of Dark Reunion to end his misery. Maybe if he told his mom he was going to ‘study’ with at a friend’s house he’d be able to escape?
By some miracle, his plan worked. With his bag of notebooks and pencils that he did not plan on using today, he happily walked the familiar path to Saiki’s house. His introverted friend usually didn’t have any plans unless he was dragged into doing something, so he was probably free! Kaidou wasn’t sure exactly what he wanted to do yet, but he could figure that out when he got to Saiki’s house. Maybe they could go search for a good base of operations against Dark Reunion! That would be epic.
When he finally rang the door bell at the Saiki residence Saiki Kurumi opened the door. “Oh! It’s one of Ku’s friends! Let me call him down for you.” She smiled at him and he smiled a little sheepishly back. He was so excited to get out of the house he didn’t really think about the fact he was dropping by unexpectedly.
“Thank you mam. I’m sorry I didn’t call ahead.” As brash and confident as Kaidou tried to act in front of his friends, he always tried to be a little more polite in front of adults. “Oh nonsense! We’re always happy to have Ku’s friends over.”
Then, a little suddenly, Saiki came running down the stairs into view. “Ah, there he is! Your friend came by to see you!” His mother turned to smile sweetly at her son.
Kaidou waved at the pink haired boy. “Hey Saiki! You wanna hang out for a while? We should go do something!”
Leaving now was the absolute last thing Saiki wanted to do. The sweets. The sweets. He would miss the precious sweets if he went off somewhere with Kaidou. He didn’t have time for this.
Just go back home. It’s probably safer there. Because at least if he was at home, he probably wasn’t at some point in the near future going to fall from... something. Saiki had seen him falling into a white void, but that wasn’t really the case. The vision just wasn’t being clear on what he was falling from or where it was happening.
“Why are you waiting for? Go have fun with your friend!” Venom laced itself into his mother’s sing-song voice as she gave him a gentle push out the door, giving him no choice in the matter. That was the danger in her answering the door. She would never let him avoid people like he wanted to. The moment she’d answered there was already no way out of this.
And just like that, there went the potentially perfect afternoon.
Resigned, Saiki once again turned his attention to Kaidou. He had no choice but to follow along with the other’s plans for a while. At least along the way, he could probably manage keep Kaidou away from any high places.
