Scott Boralith is a very good protector to the other students at the academy and I just wanna talk about it for a minute.

He’s always hyper vigilant to his surroundings whenever he goes out of the academy with a group, he constantly is looking behind the group to make sure nothing is sneaking up from behind or tailing them.

I specifically remember an instance where he went into the forest with Graecie and Pyro and he made sure that the other two teleported away first before even activating his own recall spell. Making sure the other two were completely safe before leaving the area himself.

Whenever there is danger he actively puts himself in front of threats so that others don’t get hurt, and is more than willing to bear the burden of having blood on his hands so that others don’t have to suffer the same. Not to mention how he constantly warns others to stay back whenever he uses his blizzard spell so that they’re not caught in the crossfire.

I could even bring up how the whole reason he went on his training arc in the woods for a couple of weeks was so he could protect others. He became so fearful of what his magic could do if he lost control of it (understandable considering the contents of his predecessors book) that he immediately set about doing something about it. Granted the results are probably not perfect but his dedication and consideration for others is still on full display.

Speaking of his consideration for others, I like the other ways he shows he cares that aren’t just relevant to dealing with outside threats. Whenever he sees someone who’s stressed out or sad he tends to offer them an ice cream. He adores teaching other students about rituals and sharing his knowledge so that they can grow. He constantly offers to help whenever and wherever he can in case anyone needs it.

This is a more specific example but I like how he invited Graecie to come with him to one of the shield towers after hearing about how she’s cooped herself up in the infirmary for days while watching over Zam. He didn’t demand she come with him to get some fresh air or anything, he simply just extended an invite so that ultimately it was her choice to come along or not. Refreshing interaction considering how Graecie’s autonomy in her decision making is called into question with others. Granted the trip didn’t end up all that relaxing due to the shadow figure ambush in the tower but the intentions were pure nonetheless. He’s a rather perceptive guy despite not being too big on emotional vulnerability himself.
