✴︎ BETRAYED STRAYS ✴︎
queer themes in x-men my beloved. Angel binding his wings. Bobby’s parents asking if he’s tried just not being a mutant. Nightcrawler and catholic guilt. The existence of cherik. Everything with Scott/Jean/Logan. Mystique and Destiny.
This smile was insane! He finally found someone who could take his cat-like temperament. Someone he can scratch as hard as he likes, and he won't be hurt. Someone who will take all the hits and never leave. Someone who will give him back as hard as he gives. Someone who won't die on him.
Queen (2013)
I Saw The TV Glow (2024) dir. Jane Schoenbrun
god loves you but not enough to save you
washing dishes is evil because you go "oh fuck there's so many dishes this is gonna take foreverrr" and then you enter the dish abyss and emerge with your abdomen somehow covered in water and your hands all wrinky and then you look at the clock and what felt like half an hour was actually 10 minutes
The Sheep Detectives (2026) dir. Kyle Balda
imagine you are a sheep. Imagine you are the smartest sheep in the entire world and yet your understanding of the world is so small. Imagine you are the wisest sheep in the flock and you carry the memory of everyone who came before so everyone else can be happy. Imagine being a winter lamb and dying for your flock. Imagine you are a good shepherd so loved by his flock that your sheep would do anything, even defy who they are, in order to avenge you.
and then imagine you are a brett goldstein ram and you finally have a reason for bashing. Bet that felt so good.
Here's a dump of why Donna is so important to me as a female character and why I want characters like her in EVERY show.
First of all, she's not feminine. Or intentionally masculine. She's literally just a woman who doesn't give a shit, but also doesn't have to give a shit. She wears no makeup, her style is plain and utilitarian, there's literally nothing extra in what she wears — which obviously is somehow dictated by her role and the fact that she lives in a fucking haunted horror town, but anyway. Her hair is shoulder length, which is literally the most unintentional genderless style to me, because shorter hair would probably suggest butch more stereotypically, longer hair would be stereotypically more feminine and, more importantly, impractical.
She's not beautiful either. You wouldn't call her ugly or anything, but 'pretty' is just not her category. I also really like the fact that she's not skinny, and she wouldn't be this cool if she were skinny, because there's this unapologetic, physical presence about her that implies strength.
And yet, which is really important, she's not unshakable. She doesn't just do everything on her own, she isn't 100% confident. Moreover, she's breakable, and it's been shown many times. She has feelings and worries, but it's the fact that she struggles that makes the viewer see her as strong. There's also nothing special or 'heroic' in an action way about what she does, she's just doing what has to be done, and this is so much more, because it's real and even relatable.
Second (or third, or wait, where was I?), to the great joy of my asexual ass, there's no romance implied, involving her. As much as I love the headcanon that Donna is a lesbian, I'm happy that she doesn't have an explicit partner in the show and all of her relationships are based on respect rather than attraction, and it's just so good.
Finally (or maybe not, because I could actually talk about her forever), her interactions with Boyd really are the heart of this show for me, because 'two people who dislike each other but have to work together to survive and thus turn into something close to friends but not quite' literally is my favorite trope.
Need more completely unhinged platonic friendships. If one of them isn't screaming, "YOU DON'T DIE UNTIL I SAY YOU DIE!" while actively bringing the other back to life, then what are we even doing here?
tumblr is the website for if you're just someone's weird sister
“Why don’t you use ai” idk man beyond the obvious environmental and “this machine causes psychosis and encourages people to kill themselves” thing I think asking the equivalent of a solid D student who is also a pathological liar if they can answer my question/do the work for me seems pretty fucking stupid
the lack of love for dr Ian Kelson is DISGUSTING
Its insane because people really never sit back and consider how *insanely difficult* it would be to survive an apocolypse for the adverage man. Everyone seems to think they're the main character , and that they'd be a zombie/infected killing machine.
Im here to hit you with the cold water that you absolutely would NOT be as badass as you like to hope.
Many things people dont take into consideration:
1. Medicines do expire. Unless you know how to make your own medicines by some miraculous chance, you're cooked! You'll be dying like a pilgrim because good luck making penicillin from scratch while creatures are banging at your front door craving a piece of that ass
2. You will more likely than not have to put down your loved ones. Nobody thinks they will struggle with this, until they're sitting face to face with their mom while she slowly turns into an undead/infected monster.
3. You'll likely have to leave your pets behind or leave them to fend for themselves, for some reason people have this idea that pets aren't a huge Iiability to your survival in a situation where something wants to eat you. And on top of that, it's another mouth to feed when food is scarce. Some people may get lucky and be able to keep their best friends, and some may not. It's a hard reality to face.
4. The adverage man can't even take another man in a fight without losing, imagine trying to fight something that's trying to bite or scratch you, and with one of these two, you're insta cooked. (Don't even get me started in the 28 years later infected too.)
5. No matter how many video games you played, nothing will prepare you for the horrors you'd face if ANY video game apocolypse happened irl. Not many can stand the smell of a rotting corpse or the smell of bile. (Sorry project zomboid fans)
