hi all! so since i've been posting a lot recently and have gotten quite a few new followers, i thought i should give a proper introduction.
you can call me rowan (she/her). i'm an avid lover of all things lord of the rings and middle earth related, especially lord of the rings online, which is what this blog will primarily consist of. though i may sprinkle in some things having to do with the books or movies here and there. i first played the game around six years ago i believe but i only really got into playing within the last year. i'm truly terrible at knowing when to stop making oc's. i just can't help myself and love creating new characters.
speaking of my oc's, i plan to share snippets of each of them soon, so if you're interested you can be on the look out for that. i love to write and will post my drabbles and one-shots here.
i usually play on sting as wulfe but i also have a wulfe counterpart on peregrin, though her name is wulfre over there. if you see me running around, feel free to say hi! i'd love to make lotro friends.
my ask box is always open for anything and i'm just really enjoying sharing about all things lotro.
eltiri of rivendell, a sentinel sworn to guard the borders into the hidden valley. she loves music and literature. on the quieter side but not afraid to speak her mind. selwenn often took trips to rivendell to visit her mother in her coma and eltiri always happened to be protecting the entrance into the valley that selwenn used. their friendship flourished due to their many meetings before eventually evolving into a romance. eltiri's name means "watchful star" in sindarin, and she will often incorporate star motifs into her clothes.
in my candaith lives au, he gives wulfe his cloak right before she has to leave to help théodred. i thought it could be fun to try making like an actual item description of it. so now i have this.
man i wish i could draw. i've tried, i just think my artistic abilities lie solely in writing. which is fine but. it would be nice to visualize my oc's through drawing. alas, it was not meant to be.
❝ The elf did not see her at first, as silent as she was. A ghost she might have been mistaken for if one could not see the way her chest moved with every breath. Pale-faced with a spattering of marks from the sun, the woman stood watching the trees with her eyes of different colors. One green and one brown, something that may belong uniquely to her. Her hair was dark and cut short, and such a style was half of the reason she appeared rather boyish.
Yet there was an odd quality about her, something that reminded Selwenn of her own kin at first thought. Perhaps some long forgotten elf that wed a man, thus creating the line that led to this woman. But upon further inspection, her presence felt deeper, connected to the earth around her like it had bore her itself. No other creature in Middle Earth had struck such a notion within the elf's mind.
The most peculiar of women she was. ❞
the first thoughts selwenn has of wulfe when they meet in rivendell.
Okay then! XD let the debate begin! It's August. There is now a LOTRO beach party.
- What WOULD your lotro oc wear to the beach party? -Would they win at volleyball? - What would they eat? - What do they add to the playlist?
Tag at least two lotro-playing mutuals as you go. XD
*****
@a-lonely-dunadan @thehelplessmortals you started it. XD Let's add @poetry-draws, @the-coffee-ranger, @a-little-hobbit-hole, and @merakiabyss (you know everyone else in this nebula will be tagged so I won't steal all of them)
saw i got tagged (thank you @anarlossethedunadan) and RAN to answer because i'm obsessed with the idea of lotro ocs at a beach party.
wulfe would wear a yellow halter top one piece that probably has a little skirt. she'd also always have sunglasses on. she would rock at volleyball, i know that girl has crazy strong arms. she'd win then say it was because of everyone else. she'd definitely devour like two turkey sandwiches and an entire bag of chips. she'd add "live while we're young" by one direction.
everyone would forgot hal is there because he hides under an umbrella the whole time. no swimsuit, just shorts and a t-shirt. he wouldn't win since he wouldn't put in the effort to play and then get asked why he even joined. it was because wulfe made him. he would probably just snack on chips and a coca cola. he would add something like "the sound of silence" by disturbed.
i'm gonna tag @loremastering @the-journey-was-the-point and @bluetinuviel!!
after spending way too long running around cardolan, i finally finished the deeds of cardolan and got the horse. i've also decided that this what ridda (wulfe's first horse) looks like.
i've finally gotten all my main alts up to level 20 and wanted to give snippets of each of them, including wulfe. they all have their own story, some of which may only sometimes relate to the epic questline. but i love them dearly and have really enjoyed working on creating lore for them. feel free to ask any questions about them if you're interested!
Wulfe
❝ With her past guarded tightly against her chest, Wulfe has roamed the expanse of Eriador for many years. Long has she felt like an outlier to all those around her, longer still has she felt drawn to the wilderness. Loyal to a fault with an unwavering sense of justice, she has strived to aid all who she encounters, even at the cost of her hope in the world. She has always felt most comfortable behind a bow, drawing the string back and remaining steady in the face of danger. Many would describe her as a mysterious figure, something beyond their understanding, yet they felt a comfort in her presence, a sense of safety whenever she was near. Caught off guard one day, she came to the mercy of nasty brigands and learned that she may have a part to play in the survival of the world. ❞
Maedhel
❝ The light of Telperion and Laurelin still shone in Maedhel's eyes. Having followed Fingolfin to Middle Earth, she watched many of her kin perish, including her youngest sister, yet her resolve remained strong to finish the journey and make war against Morgoth. Her many deeds throughout the First and Second Age gave her the name Naregil, meaning "Sword of Fire", for some claimed that flames followed her as she fought. Despite that reputation, many young elves could tell stories of her gentleness and kindness. She stood beside her kin and the men of the west during the Last Alliance. There, she engaged in single combat against the Witch King, mightiest of the Nazgûl, and suffered a wound that would send her into a three-thousand year slumber. ❞
Tathron
❝ Long had Tathron dwelt in the forests, calling the trees of Doriath and Mirkwood home. As the second son of Oropher, first king of the Woodland Realm, he helped establish the great kingdom of elves. He was teasingly called the Prince of Words, since he was almost always found reading a book. Good-hearted and regal, he was considered perhaps the wisest elf in all of Mirkwood because his knowledge of all things brought many to him to seek aid. He joined his father and brother to fight Sauron and returned home with two holes in his heart, for his father was slain and his wife was mortally wounded and taken to Imladris. Now, he shall safeguard his home as the forces of the Necromancer seek to turn the forests to ash. ❞
Selwenn
❝ The only child of Maedhel and Tathron, Selwenn Calamornië grew amongst the tall trees of the Greenwood under the parentage of her father. She had few memories of her mother, as young as she was when the Free Folk waged war against the Dark Lord. She was much beloved by her people, but none could love her quite as much as her little cousin Legolas did. Many antics did the two get up to and were the cause of most of their fathers' stress. It was said that nothing could separate the two, not even death itself. She was forever joyous and found much delight in the things around her, and yet there was a deep sadness within her, a longing for the mother taken from her. Alongside Legolas, she traveled to Rivendell to bring news of the creature Gollum's escape, and there her journey to save Middle Earth began when assigned to assist a mysterious woman. ❞
Halston
❝ A young Dúnadan, Halston had followed his elder brother many years ago to the shores of Evendim to safeguard the lost city of Annúminas. He grew to love those lands and could often be found sitting upon the sand, gazing out across the water. The other rangers would describe him as a quiet lad, prone to solitude, but they could never deny his skill with a spear. The death of his brother at the hands of an unknown foe destroyed the love he harbored for the place he viewed as his home. When given the call to travel south and aid his chieftain, he went without quarrel, relieved to leave the lands that stole his brother from him. ❞
evendim is one of my favorite zones so i'll always love having the opportunity to quest through it. and rivendell is of course beautiful. peregrin wulfe is almost level 40 now which is exciting.
i am cry. i found this adorable picrew (here's the link!) and obviously i had to make wulfe and candaith because i legit can't stop thinking about them. my babies.
dumb blonde energy (lovingly). struggles to grow facial hair and is perpetually made fun of for it. dark green eyes. sunburnt. broken nose that he claims came from fighting orcs but was likely from falling out of a tree. always grinning. little ponytail. more of a lithe build. strong arms from wielding a bow.
random photos i've taken while leveling peregrin wulfe. she's just been told by halbarad to find aragorn in rivendell but she is far too underleveled for the trollshaws so she's gonna hop over to evendim and do quests there next.
— very well rounded, thanks to her parents. can cook, sew, hunt, care for horses, tend to minor wounds and illnesses.
— first started cutting her hair short when she was very young. she got annoyed because it kept getting caught on branches when she would explore the woods. doesn't really know what she would look like with long hair.
— lowkey a female version of aragorn sometimes. scruffy, sits in corners mysteriously, a little elf-like (despite her not being raised by elves), probably would open doors dramatically.
— i've mentioned this before but terrible survivor's guilt. thinks she's to blame for people dying around her even when it wasn't remotely her fault. and if she doesn't directly blame herself, she believes she didn't try hard enough to save people.
— ^^^ this is likely due to the fact she was the sole witness to her father's death. no one said it was her fault but people from her village already believed there was witchcraft about her. they started avoiding her because they thought being around her would lead to their death.
— talked to trees as a child but the other kids called her weird so she stopped. however, that didn't stop her from talking to animals, especially horses.
— greatly admired legolas and selwenn (another oc) when she first met them. thinks their archery skills are incredible.
— along the same line, also looks up to aragorn a lot.
— bit of a nerd. loves learning about people's history.
— has a tattoo down her spine of sprawling vines and forget-me-nots. has another tattoo circling her upper arm that says "let my aim be true and my soul be free".
— knows some sindarin due to her travels with selwenn. could probably hold a basic conversation but would get laughed at for her terrible pronunciation.
— she turned 26 at some point during the whole ordeal with narmeleth/amarthiel.
— was convinced she was sick when she started catching feelings for candaith. didn't know why else her heart would be racing or why there were butterflies in her stomach. poor radanir had to explain what romantic attraction is to her.
— dreams about candaith a lot after he dies.
— probably ate dirt as a kid. that girl was borderline feral.
been working on my pieces for tolkienocweek (found out what this is recently and i'm very excited to participate) and as of now four out of seven of them are gonna be angsty. i swear i can write happy stuff. but it is not this day apparently. this day i make my characters suffer.
