Sorry I haven't been on in ages.
I'm currently wrestling with three deadlines for my degree, which are all due in for the end of the week/monday. However, I'll try to post after I've finished one or two of them midweek.
Sorry guys!

Sorry guys!
A curious white brow perked up at the situation being presented to her. A merchant requesting her part in something. How odd. Did he not know that just the action of choosing her from the crowd is probably enough to scare some people away?
Nonetheless, it amused her, and she was a curious woman as much as any other, and maybe a little more. So, she takes slow steps toward the man hearing the whispers echo around her like an acapella. Except… not as beautiful, of course.
“Right, destiny. I don’t believe in destiny, by the way.” Commenting in a ‘matter-of-factly’ manner, she lets her eyes rest upon the peculiar box. And before long, the caution and suspicion returned to her scarlet hues. There could be anything in that box. Some kind of mechanism that shoots projectiles, perhaps? Or a carefully placed dagger with a spring booster that might penetrate her chest, even?
“Afraid? Tch! No way.” Even though the dangers of the unknown kept her guard up and ready, she’d be able to sense if something was going to cause her harm, so she was confident in reaching out her hand and slowly - both to be careful, and to cause suspense within the crowd, she knew it would benefit the man to play along - very slowly, opening the box. “… There.”
"And as you can see, there was nothing to be worried about in the first place. No, what was inside this box, was something...to be admired."
Perry reached into the box that the woman had finally opened, pulling out a gem, finely cut, and held it into the light, rolling it around in between his fingers for a few moments he asked her, "What colour is this gem to you? I once saw it as a sapphire blue, like the ocean. At other times, green, like the healthiest fields." His voice begins to get louder, as he talks to the crowd, "I recieved this gem several months ago, from a fellow merchant whose trade I saved on the road from bandits. Grateful for living, he gave me this gem, said to change colour from day to day, and even place to place! Wonderous, isn't it? I today, today I am selling it! Are we interested?"
He turned to the woman who had opened the box.
"Are you interested, Ms....?"
After having been given enough food to last her a week, Piper didn’t really feel the need to steal anything much after that incident. Yet, she still found herself wandering around the markets, as if she actually had money to spend. Which, of course, she didn’t.
But it didn’t matter. Even if she did have money, chances were that she’d still get shooed away from every merchant’s stall as always. In fact, she’d bet that even if she had a million gold coins to spare, she’d still get told to leave. They’d probably think the coin was cursed like she was and would bring them bad luck. The thought would have made Piper laugh… If it weren’t so sad.
No, she still laughed.
And then, she wasn’t sure if it was her laughter that set her apart from the crowd - as if she appeared to be some happy-go-lucky, young, naive woman travelling the streets willing to fall for any old merchant’s words - but it seemed as if a merchant had singled her out from the rest, and called for her attention.
“… Wh— Me? Seriously?” The gesture surprised her more than anything. Was the man kidding? … Or was this a trap of some sort? “… Why? You can’t open it yourself or something?”
"Yes. You. Are you not going to come up? Keep the crowd waiting?" Perry put rather bluntly; the women seemed awkward, she could upset the onlooker, perhaps he had chosen the wrong person...no, Perry decided to trust his instincts, something about her stood out, and that something would help him sell his goods. He once again beckoned the woman to him, repetition implied importance.
"I bet you're wondering to yourself, my dead crowd, that strange woman over there, why, she's right! Why cannot I open the box myself? Why must I, Peregrine Marquand, seller of delights, ask a random person to do such an inane task? The answer is simple, because destiny says so. I already know what's in the box, but I feel something tell me that you, my dear, are destined to open it, to reveal it to this crowd here!"
Perry thought about his choice of words, a classic tactic really, make those interested in your goods feel like they were meant to have them, whether or not they were meant to was another matter entirely, still this girl seemed at least interested, so why not give it a try?
"Afraid of the unknown, are we? All you have to do is open it."
For Peregrine, the time and the place did not matter when he set up shop, it could have been the dead of night, at the side of a dusty road for all he cared; no, for him, the only thing that mattered were the people; the potentials. Without them, why, he'd never sell anything!
And so, here he was, setting up shop, as people pulled up close to see what he had for sale. Perry had the usual, silks from across the borders, sweet smelling spices, a weapon or two.
But he had something else to sell. He strode in front of the crowd, who began to take notice that, in his right hand, Peregrine held something covered by a purple cloth. He held up his left hand, and began to speak;
"People! I can see you there, asking yourselves, "This man, he sells so many fantastic. So many wonderous items at such afforable prices! But what sets Peregrine Marquand apart from all the others here who hawk their wares? Well I shall show you! The answer lies underneath this cloth..."
With a flick of his wrist, Peregrine removes the cloth to reveal an ornate wooden box, with what appears to be golden markings, he looks rather proud at his offer;
"Inside this box...well, you can see for yourself! Hmm, you! Yes, you over there, come forward and open it for us will you!" His rather bulbous finger pointing at a random member of the crowd, before beckoning them over.
WHAT IS YOUR EARLIEST HUMAN MEMORY?
I have many, but the one I find the most important is the first time I entered a market. Crowded, hectic, and the smells! Oh; lavender, cinnamon, rosemary! ...And the people too, my eyes and ears were draw to a man attempting to sell to the crowd what appeared to be some poorly dyed cloth. But the way he spoke of it, I swear it made everyone in the crowd think is was finer than the greatest silks used by kings!
It was certainly an event that had a lasting impression.
Application.
Name: Peregrine Marquand
Age: 32
Pokemon: Mewtwo
Region: Nomadic
Postion: Merchant
Bio: Peregrine doesn’t tell others where he came from, at least, in the context of where his journey first started. Dressed in strange silks and clothes, he only tells people two things; one, he’s searching for a lost relative and two; he has goods for sale if they are interested. He deals in exotic fare, and normally charges quite a bit for his goods. He likes to worm his way into royal gatherings, for one reason or another.
In truth, the lost relative is Peregrine’s family, whom he never knew, he was raised in an orphanage alone, and he constantly snuck away to the nearby market whenever he could, to listen to the buyers try to sell their wares, enticed by their manner of speaking, and how they could draw people to pay attention. As he grew older, he decided to become one himself, both to expand his horizons, and to maybe, even if it is a fool’s dream, learn about his past. Taking the name 'Marquand', he started his travels.
Personality: Polite, agreeable, and quite dapper. ‘Perry’ as he calls himself certainly seems to draw heads, be it by his appearance or mannerisms. He’s a true businessman, and for him, the only failed deal is one where the potential customer walks away empty handed. Behind the side he shows during business hours is one that has great drive, to find his lost family and maybe a place in the world he can settle down in afterwards. He has a quaint sense of humour, and enjoys living life to the fullest.
