Mina, stressed: How could we let this happen?! We're smarter than this!
Niki, sipping a drink: Apparently, we're not.
people talking about this castle is haunted or whatever while i’ve been here 500 years and haven’t seen shit
[ The two most annoying people you know are related. Worse, they're twins. ]
all vampires know is fang in neck and lie
and gay theatrics
[ Dropping these Picrews of portraits of Mina through the years. <3 ]
[ To the person who called me a "woke pick me" for making my 1000 year old Scotsman a tan skinned man - he's gay and vegan now. Fuck you. ]
[ Making Nikolai's google doc. Then I'll work on drafts and asks. God, I love my little murder monster. Throwback to my (deeply unfinished) promo cards I was making for the twins. ]
"and what might that have been if yous don't mind me ask'in?" remmick spoke not really caring for how the door shut as he rolled his neck to stretch it a bit. Her question had him grinning a bit and shrugged looking at her "We gotta find prey somehow don't we sweetpea, but i got other means" he hummed nodding to the bango stung onto his back. When introducing herself, remmick moved to face the woman and nodded "Name's Remmick....and like I said I don't care about territory and that shite - centuries old, if someone wants to try and fuck with me about being in their territory"
His Irish accent showed a bit more, and the fact he admitted to being centuries old well - if anyone knew Ireland's history, they could easily guess what he might have gone through at best but still, that was just assuming "Just need to rest a while and fed, still recovering from a little mishap" he commented though the wound she wouldn't be able to see it but she'd smell it at his chest even under the wrapping no doubt.
Her eyes continued to follow every movement he made before settling on his chest at the mention of a mishap. She didn't spare any apologies nor show any concern for his wellbeing, but a tinge of worry was beginning to grow in the back of mind again.
"Let's just call it hospitality." Gemina admitted with a small, polite laugh. "I've ran inns, brothels, and speakeasies. If it dealt with a physical need or a vice there's a chance I had my hand in the honeypot. Retired a few decades back and got into antiques and art." She waved her left hand out towards the store that surrounded them.
Aisles upon winding aisles of book cases, glass displays, shelves, and décor covered the expansive salesfloor. There was hardly an empty space in the entire building.
"Come with me. You can rest in my guest room and I've some things that might help you recover a bit faster from your mishap."
Her heels tapped the wooden floor as she started walking towards an archway that was nestled near the sales counter. A keen eye would pick up on the fact the floor was worn in that exact path; decades of walking the same path over and over. Evidence that Gemina had somehow remained as she was in that exact spot for quite some time.
"Before we get up to my apartment," she paused at the bottom of the steps to look back at Remmick with a stern expression, "there are some rules I ask you follow. Most won't apply since you aren't staying very long, but most importantly you may not turn on any of the lights. If for some reason you must I ask you warn me ahead of time. Secondly, you do not enter my bedroom under any circumstances. Third and final is that if you are going to pull something from the walls you just.. Put it back."

"I can say with authority that the generation of people that are a true plague were the Victorians. Repressed, lying little deviants fucked up the timeline for the rest of us."
Ilyas huffed. It was a sound he often made, but after the amount of booze he'd had now, it was much louder, and perhaps even more charming than usual. "I'm not throwing anything up. I don't waste." Spending money on booze and then literally spilling it down the drain? Oh no. It wasn't an option.
He looked at his glass. Empty again. That couldn't be healthy. Then again, driving yourself batshit insane by going over events that you couldn't change inside your head wasn't exactly the definition of productive behavior either. And under these circumstances, Ilyas wasn't doing that. He thought that was good. That was a win.
"Food is overrated." He scowled, considering his own words, because was that even true? He faintly shook his head. "Some people call some things food that are sometimes not food--shouldn't be food." That sentence made sense, in a weird way. "Food should be.. food. You know? And not grease and sugar packed into a--" His gaze fell on his glass and he looked surprised. "Hey. Where's my drink?"
@merchantofwhispers
"It's only overrated if you have to have it." Gemina muttered happily. "I would give anything to taste a piece of cake again or try fried chicken. It always smells incredible. We didn't really have that when I was a child." She snorted at his confusion and let her head fall back against her chair. "You drank it. The rest of this though?" She held the bottle out, still half full, and shook it teasingly at him before suddenly yanking it back.
If he intended on protesting she certainly didn't give him enough time to react before she spun the lid back off and knocked it back, downing the golden liquid in several painful swallows before unceremoniously wiping her mouth with the back of her hand. For a moment she could feel that pleasant warmth in her chest and the light spin in her head. The alcohol was finally starting to hit her. "There we are. Now all I need is a midnight snack.."
She pointed towards her drinking companion and then wiggled her fingers. "Got anyone you don't particularly like? We can really help each other out here." Her smile was warm and lopsided, her grey eyes half lidded as she teased him.

Will chuckled softly. Being lost was no picnic and right now he didn't see a way out either, but he was still mildly amused. Mostly so by Mina's attitude. "I was thinking we probably took a wrong turn somewhere." The edges of his lips curled a little higher, knowing fully she might not enjoy the moment as much as he did, but not bothering to hide it. "But your philosophical approach is very inspiring." But maybe he could at least get a smile out of her?
He reached and brushed a small strand of hair out of her face. She was tired. "Lost for hours and you still look beautiful." Well, if that wouldn't get a smile out of her, Will didn't know what would.
He glanced around and his gaze fell on a particularly dark alleyway. The type that screamed to not enter. "Maybe we should try that way."
@merchantofwhispers
Will's playful quip drew an eyeroll from the exhausted vampire, but despite it she still found it nearly impossible to truly be upset with him. Especially as his fingers grazed her and followed it with such gentle praise. She did smile, faint, but warm while leaning her head towards his hand.
"I suppose we could try...," she paused when her head turned to see the dark alley, "...That..."
The lingering lights and glow of the evening sky ensured she couldn't see down into the dark properly. She stared into the abyss for a moment before slowly turning to look back at Will with a tight lipped expression that was easy enough to read.
Are you crazy? "Are you sure?"
Inching a little closer, she brought her voice into a low whisper. "You don't intend to stab in that alleyway, do you?" She teased to cut her own discomfort.

Gemina's husband was, to say the least, intimidating. Now, it did not take a whole lot to intimidate someone like Jasmine. Most men who were taller and harsher managed that, especially upon first meeting, but this one especially, with his torn clothes and salty smell. He was a rogue. She tried very hard to hide that she was lightly startled, but Jasmine had a face that spoke before her mouth could. But at least she smiled.
"Sir," she said and she bowed her head slightly, although she wasn't sure why she did so. It probably looked awkward, so she snapped it back up the second she realized that. "It's nice to meet you." She lied. It felt like she lied, even though she wanted it to be the truth. And he probably noticed too. Oh, boy.
"I uh.." Not only did she lie, she was being rude too. All this judgement inside her head.. "I'm sorry, I've never met a.." A pirate. She nearly said that word. "--a sailor.. before." She thought that might not be true either, but it was a lie that wouldn't hurt anybody's feelings. It wasn't that bad.
Making conversation. That would distract from the social disaster she currently was. "Where did you just sail from?"
@merchantofwhispers
If there was any offense caused it certainly didn't show on the large man's face. He just smiled brighter, crows feet forming at the edges of his eyes as he rumbled a soft laugh. "France." He hummed before leaning over to kiss Gemina on the top of the head. "Glad t'be 'ome at least f'r a couple weeks." He started pulling away, his touch lingering on Gemina until he was finally just out of reach.
"Apologies f'r interruptin' the tea. I'll go clean up, you pretty ladies enjoy the rest of yer' evenin'. I promise not t'make too much noise." Cinead playfully offered a bow of his head just as Jasmine did and then gave his chest a soft pat with his head. With that he turned and started walking towards Gemina's bedroom door before pausing to glance back over his shoulder. "It's nice t'see ya makin' friends, Minny. I get worried about ya' holed up 'ere all alone. Don't ya' know the sailors wailing wife trope died years ago?"
Immediately Gemina puffed up with annoyance as she fumbled over her retort. It was very much like him to kite his way through an interaction before testing the line in the sand. While the comment would be lost on anyone else, she knew damn well what he was playfully jabbing at.
"Oh go shower. You smell like low tide." She finally huffed and waved him off rather enthusiastically while his laughter faded behind the bedroom door. Gemina lingered watching it, her head shaking as the smallest smile returned to her lips.
Wasn't it always the cliche of love making someone feel alive? Yet there she was; the very embodiment of such an overdone, basic story device. A stoic, proper woman re-animated in the presence of some dirty brute whose presence came and went like the waves.
Inhaling, she turned to Jasmine and then let out a short breath. "I'm so sorry, my dear. I didn't intend to.. I'm sure this must have been startling, but I can assure you he's mostly gentle." Mostly. "Please, where we we?"
@worldofsenelfy
He raised an eyebrow at her comment and the possible tone or meaning behind it, as she seemed to study him almost. Remmick was dressed in a simple manner, and while he noticed her look to the shadows he spoke "Can assure yous I'm alone darlin" he commented before she gave him permission to come inside, which was what he needed to step over the threshold into the shop.
"Ain't got no need to shite normal folks enjoy or think is so valuable" He commented quietly knowing she could still hear him no doubt "Just pass'in through" remmick settled his hands into the pockets of his pants, just casually moving but only as far as she'd take him within the building for the time being.
"yous have a habit of letting people in sweetpea?" He asked with a charming grin
"Not much these days."
Gemina watched him carefully, tracking his movements and where his eyes fell despite what he'd uttered beforehand. "Just an old habit left over from my previous career, I suppose." She swung the door shut with a loud slam and then let the noise reverberate through the shop.
Listening.
Waiting.
When nothing beyond themselves seemed to be present within the shop she finally seemed to relax just a little. "Do you have a habit of following strange people into their homes?" She responded with a smile that finally flashed her almost-to-large fangs, but the vibrancy of it didn't reach her eyes.
"Mina, by the way." Her hand was offered out for him to take should he so choose. "You're lucky you wandered to me doorstep. I'm about as close to neutral ground around here as you'll find." Even if that neutrality came at a heavy blood price. "You are?"

despite her short stature, amelia followed mina like a towering shadow looming over the other as the vampire lead her through winding paths within the cemetery only for them to pause occasionally when the latter linger before several graves. she merely inclined her head in a polite bow of sorrowful acknowledge because she losing cherished ones wasn't easy to overcome or get accustomed to their absence.
now, as they both stood before five graves with weathered headstones, amelia kept ever so silent while she observes the names etched upon the stone. then, a minute frown was beginning to form at the edges of her lips the longer her eyes lingered. oh...
lia caught mina's own smile just as she lifted her gaze from the headstones only for them to descend once more as they followed the vampire's movement. this was her family... this scenery vaguely reminded her of the one back within her estate, where her children's mausoleum stood and shadowed by a centuries old oak tree. it made her heart clench in sympathy. even the sight of mina's and nikolai's graves made it all more melancholy.
folding and resting her hands at her abdomen, amelia asked quietly as if to not shatter this... silence amongst them. " tell me about them ? "
Grief was a difficult beast to tame.
Centuries had passed and their faces had blurred in her mind, but the feeling of their loss was clear. "Our home would be near here." She muttered and looked off past the graves. "The streets have all changed and the port is laid differently. I don't think I could find it again no matter how hard I tried." Taking a moment, she cast her attention back to the graves.
"My father brought my mother to the new world. He craved freedom from the Russian monarchy, same as the Englishmen who came here. He brought with him our family's money and spent it all settling in. He began a naval mercantile company and helped fund half the city before the revolutionary war. I was born just before that war started and he did everything he could to keep us safe. He even moved out, leaving us alone in the home while he worked with the military to supply goods. Nikolai and I caught a fever - some disease that was killing the soldiers, he blamed himself. Said he'd brought the horrid air with him."
Slowly, Gemina eased herself to the ground and sat down beside the grave properly. "Nikolai got better, but I-.. I didn't. I was frail, mostly deaf, and even a light breeze left me fevered for days after. Our father doted on me, provided me education and wealth when other young girls were busy learning how to be women of the house. He raised me as a son. If thrones can be sat on by Queens, why then should his daughter not know how to read?"
Her tone turned sour as the happy memories of her father began to bleed into the trauma's that drove her towards the hands that would both bless and curse her with her immortality. "I'd only just hit puberty and the revolutionary war was only freshen ended. A loyalist to the crown opted to have one final act before he departed for England and that was throwing an oil lamp through the window of our home. Our father carried us out and laid us in the grass, but went back inside to retrieve our mother who had gone to wake the maids. They-... They didn't come back out."
Gemina reached forward to run her fingers over the grass. "He died a hero. Our mother a martyr. Both killed for a war that had already finished as the hands of one man who bet his life on the losing side." Her lip quivered. "Nikolai had run to get help that night, but I remained in the street with my little brother in my arms. He buried his head into my nightgown and cried as I watched the house crash into the ground. I swear that beyond the sound of the roof falling in I could hear my parent's screaming with the flames."
