Chelsea, even though she was still learning, was willing to try anything. SHIELD seemed like her best option, and while she could have gone into the private sector, it wasn’t of interest to her.

Her attention was quickly drawn back as Agent Sterling leaned by her part of the desk. “Oh, thank you sir. I definitely feel better about this position than the last One. I don’t particularly enjoy chaos, though.” Opening the file, she grabbed a sticky note and jotting the name down, so she could step back, and still remember who she was looking for.

Tedium she could deal with. Details were one of the things she thrived in, which was exactly why this job was so good for her. “Ah, I see. Old school paper. I know a few people like that, sir.”

Taking the deep breath as suggested, she clicked the pen open, and took a sip of coffee. She could absolutely do this. “Understood. That’s why I’m here. Also, sir, does Bancroft have an agent number like other field agents, or alias we should be aware of?”

It was a bit overwhelming to see all the boxes, but she knew there was plenty of them, and it wasn’t all on her. But every piece she found would be helpful.

“Chaos is not… typical here? However, it should be something you should expect around every corner. It doesn’t matter what department you’re in, what position you hold, what job you’re doing. Chaos finds us. Both out in the field and here in the offices. I’ve had almost as many incidents on base as off. I don’t mean to scare you, but I need to know you’re prepared. But, let’s put a pin in that for now. Shake that off. I’ve got you covered til you’re up to speed, ok?”

It was something Sterling prided about their department. Despite being mostly desk agents who never went into the field, at least not for anything too dangerous, Sterling made sure each and every one of them knew basic self defense. He ran drills, he went over evacuation protocols, he covered every situation he could think of in meetings so that his team wouldn’t be caught off guard and would know what to do in crisis situations.

He’d been through too many in his years in SHIELD. He didn’t want to see anyone else get hurt.

“This is a unique case. We’re just helping another department out because of the backlog of work Bancroft created. Fortunately, he has no known aliases. Any file containing the name Elijah Lawrence Bancroft, you flag and place in this pile for Internal Affairs.”

Hearing that chaos wasn't typical, Chelsea relaxed slightly in her chair. She liked order, and generally she kept things all in their place. Order and systems kept her life operating in prime function and she liked it that way. Everything was in her schedule, laid out specifically in 15 minute increments. Of course, things happened, like wars, and attacks - she knew that - those were never scheduled. They just happened. And she hadn't been ready before, but she was now. “Thank you, sir. I appreciate that.”

All they needed to do was sort, flag and set aside? That was easy. And far easier than she had imagined an all hands on deck situation would require. Flipping open the first page, pen in hand, and sticky notes at the ready, Chelsea knew they had a long day ahead with the amount of boxes she had seen. “Okay. Sounds easy enough!”

She dove in, looking for anything relating to Bancroft. Though, still not having much reference for who that was, she did start to ponder on what he looked like, and what he would have done at SHIELD. “Did you know Bancroft personally, sir?”

“Because three agents in Intelligence are out sick and we are extremely shorthanded. Grab a stack of paperwork, at least three pens, a cup of coffee, and a bottle of aspirin. We’re in for a long day.”

Chelsea stared at him, blank eyes for a moment while she processed what he was asking of her. This was the first time she’d been called for a ‘all hands on deck’ kind of situation, and since she was fairly new to the department, she was still learning the ropes of the intelligence side of SHIELD.

All the young woman could do, was silently grab the stack of files, and the first couple of pens in reach before she sat down and opened the first one.

“Uh, sir? What am I looking for in these files?” Definitely a fish out of water on this one. Maybe she’d learn lots form Agent Sterling, who she’d heard was very good at what he did.

The deer in the headlights look was all too familiar to Sterling. He even remembered it from his own early days. Despite how chaotic it was and how he had initially swept in in a flurry of fast paced business jargon, his features softened now as he watched her suddenly fumble for some grasp on what was happening.

He smiled warmly and breathed out some of the frantic energy the day had thrust upon them as he sat down beside her and leaned over the file to gently guide her.

“My apologies. Sometimes I forget you’re new. That’s a good sign. It means I’m already comfortable with you here. It can be rather terrifying when you first start out. Hell, still is for me sometimes. You’ll get used to that feeling in your veins. You’ll learn to thrive in that chaos, I promise.” He took another deep breath, blew it out, and pointed to the file. “We’re looking for any mention of Agent Elijah Lawrence Bancroft. Internal Affairs is backed up so we’re helping them look through every file he’s touched since his recruitment which is…” the look he gave Chelsea was a good indication that the man was ancient. “…a long time. A lot of his work was before the switch to digital and even then he preferred physical paper files so… A lot to comb through. It’s tedious work but it’s important. I promise.”

He took a moment to look Chelsea in her eyes so she knew he meant what he was saying.

“Even the tedious work, even the paperwork and the filing, the things the field agents scoff at. Everything we and you do here is important and helps save lives. Maybe not today but somewhere down the line what we do here is going to pay off in a big way for someone. Never forget that we are the shield. Now… Take a deep breath, take a sip of coffee, and dive in with both feet. I’m right here if you need me.”

And it was true. Rather than working in his office he had moved to a desk among the rest of them, taking a more direct role in this man hunt and painstakingly going through every file with them from the massive pile of boxes around them that had been brought up from records. At least, the ones that had survived being set on fire when SHIELD fell in 2014. Some of them still smelled like smoke.

It was oddly comforting to him because he knew who had set them ablaze that day.

OBI WAN WAS JUST AS TIRED. They've gone on for days. Bail trusted him with his child. Anakin's child. Seeing him stand there before him brought tears almost to his eyes. He lived! He was alive! This whole time he had doubted until now. His old friend had not betrayed him like he thought originally. That was until he had learned there was some hope left. Here Skywalker was, alive and breathing.

This changed things. Leia was his daughter. It would be up to him to explain. He would tell her when she finally rested. "I hope I haven't kept you too long, old friend." He smiled as Anakin came over and hugged him finally. Oh, this was a good thing. With him alive, they could set things right finally. Sith was their specialty after all.

After they parted, he saw Anakin's eyes go to Leia. "Whose this? You brought a child with you?" Kenobi looked behind him and motioned for the princess to come beside him. "This is Leia Organa. Leia, this is my dear friend Anakin." Pausing so she could say hello, he smiled as he placed a hand on Skywalker's shoulder. "We have much to speak about. Shall we go inside? I'm afraid the situation is a bit dire and she needs to rest and maybe eat too." Seeing as the other nodded, he watched him point to the homestead off to the side after kneeling down to get at Leia's eye level.

"Hello, Leia. I bet you are starved. I have plenty of rationing and food for everyone. You can sleep in my bed if you choose, okay?" He knew Anakin had a way with children. They always had flocked to him during the war and a few times he commented on how he would have made a good father if he chose that lifestyle. "Sounds good honestly. We've been going nonstop for a while now."

Something felt familiar, but Leia still couldn't place it. At least this time, Obi-Wan was correct that he actually had friends here. Finally. It meant she didn't need to be on extra high alert, and she could actually rest properly. That sounded so nice. She watched the interaction between them, silently thankful for it. Old friend or not, there was no hostility, and there was no need to look over her shoulder, at least for a couple of days.

When Obi-Wan motioned her forward, she climbed the rest of the small dune from behind him, bowing her head politely. "Hello Mr. Anakin." The nagging feeling like she knew him really bothered her, because she would have remembered his face. Leia really needed to ask Obi-Wan about it later, privately.

When he came down to her level, she smiled softly, and nodded. "That sounds nice, sir. Thank you. I did sleep a little on the speeder, but not much..." Her tummy grumbled at the mention of rations, to which she frowned a little. She thought she had done pretty well at spreading out her own, but obviously not.

Following them to the homestead, Leia squinted, trying to take mental notes of where things were, and places she could hide, if the need arose. "Why did you decide to live here, Mr, Anakin? It seems really remote..." maybe that wasn't a bad thing but to Leia, it seemed excessively far from any settlement, or port.

"I certainly hope so." The familiarity beckoned him like a bright light. An old friend he once knew was there, he had to be. Anakin. They were once two halves of the same whole. Two warriors that knew each other better than they knew themselves. Skywalker and Kenobi. Anakin and Obi Wan. The younglings used to cheer their names. Adults were the skeptics, but never the young ones. He had a feeling the one he met on Mustafar was not his brother in arms, but a dark twisted being that knew no different.

He wasn't trying to push Leia more than she could handle. Obi Wan had hoped this would be the last stop until he could figure out his next move. Once he had her in the speeder, he took off and aimed for the sun. In the distance, he felt the pull again. Bright and lingering as if ushering him home again. Anakin. Brother. Friend. How the years had been cruel to him. The Empire had taken everything from him, but so far he knew Organa's daughter was safe. The Grandmaster's order had not failed. He just hoped Luke was safe with Owen.

Once he stopped the craft, he hopped out. There was a figure on a tall dune dressed in sand colors and a muted grey. Unlike the black color of Anakin's robes, he had once known. He knew Skywalker was smart and if it was him, then he would have adapted to this world. It made sense really for him to be on a Hutt controlled planet. At one time, that was all his padawan had known. He had gone back to his roots and what he knew. If it was him indeed. Telling Leia to come along again, he lead the way up the dune and to the top he stopped a few feet from the figure. Staring at the man, he looked on with new hope. "Anakin... is it really you?" A few heartbeats later, he saw the man pull his poncho hood off to reveal his old friend standing there with a comforting small smile on his face. "Obi Wan. I've been waiting."

Leia was so tired of travelling, so tired of not being at home, tired of secrets, and tired of being scared. She knew she was safe with her parents' old friend, and she knew he would do everything he could to keep his promise to Bail and Breha. She missed her good night stories, and sleeping in her own bed on Alderaan, she missed her friends. There was just so much uncertainty, all of the time, and she was exhausted.

She was only a child, what did she know...

Anakin? She'd heard that name before, but couldn't remember where. Maybe it wasn't important. Something about him felt familiar though, not that the young princess knew why. A deep knowing hit her in the stomach, and she normally ignored those feelings, this one was hard to ignore.

Silently following him up the dune, Leia tried her best to keep pace, but her shorter legs proved that impossible, but she did her best, falling in behind him a few seconds after he had climbed the dune. The young girl looked up at Obi-Wan, then back at the other man, lacing her hands together in front of her patiently. Besides, Obi-Wan had asked her to stop asking questions, didn't he?

While it all felt very familiar, it felt strange too, and Leia couldn't place what that feeling actually was. She really hoped that this was the outcome that Obi-Wan had been hoping for.

"This- this is the shit that..." She stopped, biting her tongue for a moment. What was it that Steve told her about her temper? Be mad after the problem is solved. "I need to blow something up..."

“Eira.” Natasha calmly said the other woman's name, before tilting her head slightly, to decern what was bothering her. If swearing didn't help, there was likely something just as productive that could replace blowing something up. “Talk it through with me?” Nat may not have been a genius, but she kept up most of the time.

Time wasn't anything the vampiress ever usually concerned herself with. The benefit of immortality was that it would never quite touch her, but she still would track the weeks that passed in an idle manner if she ever was corroborating with mortals. There was much to keep her occupied in the meantime, the covens demanded much of her attention, as did their new Elders. Treaties had to be drawn up, old grudges buried, and history properly recorded.

Natasha contacting her and informing her that she had done it, and the cafe's location, had been a welcome reprieve from what the vampiress considered to be glorified babysitting. She had arrived first and had ordered a coffee to blend in and to be polite to the workers and not simply occupy a table, even if she would be unable to consume the beverage.

Sonja had brought a book with her, and had been slowly leafing through the pages while she waited. She looked up upon hearing Ntasha's voice, then smiled in a satisfied manner. Eve was with her, and appeared to be there of her own free will--not that it would have been easy to bring the young woman if she didn't want to, her strength far surpassed even that of her own.

"A woman of your word, I respect that greatly." The vampiress stated, setting the book down and rising from her chair to greet her niece and exchange a few quick words in Hungarian with her. Updates on the covens, and how Selene was settling into her new role. She turned back to the other woman, appraising her as she settled back down in her chair.

"Well, you made good on your half of the bargain. So, what would you like in return hmn?"

Natasha was pleased to see that Sonja was happy with both their returns. She ordered herself a coffee while the other women discussed things in Hungarian to catch up on who knows how many years of work Sonja had been doing. 

When she was part of the conversation again, Natasha took a sip of her coffee, and leaned forward. “I've heard rumours that someone was trying to dig up old Soviet Red Room connections again, and I've also heard there's been a few young women gone missing in Belarus. With your contacts, would you be able to help me find out who it is? They cannot start working underground again. I can't let that happen.” 

While there had been lots of work to shut them down, she knew there had been defectors, escapees like she was, and she couldn't bear the thought of anyone going through that now. Rumor may also have been of someone trying to find Zola's research into the Winter Soldier program, and she knew that Bucky would go on a warpath to stop that. 

Natasha just wanted to take it all down quietly. It was safer that way.

Was anyone truly safe? In this galaxy, a Jedi was never safe for long. If Anakin was indeed Jaxxson Turner, he would have stayed hidden successfully for ten years. Which was impressive in itself. He wouldn't put it past his old padawan if he had. "I understand. I am trying, Leia." His mind was preoccupied with thoughts of Leia's father. He couldn't sense his Force signature which was all too familiar to him. It concerned him that if he was here, he could have cut himself from the living Force. It was possible.

Conversing with the pad owner, he gave up the credits to the small-statured man and then went over to the speeder he was borrowing. He lifted the ten-year-old up and went to strap her in. After he placed a helmet on her head that was offered to him. He told the other thank you and looked at her again when she spoke. "Because this time my feelings serve me right. Though I do not know how time has treated them. So please be kind and try to not ask too many questions at first." He instructed her. Obi-Wan did not want to overwhelm his former pupil. Kenobi rounded the corner of the speeder and hopped on. Starting up the craft, he revved the engine before taking off in the direction of where he hoped Skywalker would be. "Force, please have been kind to him." He said under his breath as they raced towards the sun.

It took twenty minutes before they came to a compound or the outskirts of one. He saw a figure that was darkened by the suns light. Stopping the speeder near the home, he shut off the engine. Rounding it, he went to help her out and then offered his hand to her. "Come along. Can't keep him waiting." Please be Anakin.

Something was nagging at the back of her mind. She didn't really know what it was, but something felt strange. Almost familiar. She decided that, for the time being, she would keep this information to herself though. No need to worry Obi-Wan more than he already was. She could feel that much. “I know, I'm sorry.“ She uttered again, a defeated tone in her voice. She was exhausted. Her tiny body needed far more sleep than they had gotten in days, and Leia was trying her hardest to be understanding, and patient. She could hear her mother's voice in her head, reminding her of her manners and to treat Obi-Wan with the utmost respect.

She adjusted her straps and her helmet a little so she felt like she had some small semblance of control of something in her life. “I'll do my best. I hope you're right this time…” The princess still held her reservations about where they were, never mind whoever they were going to meet.

As the speeder took off, she watched the land move past them, and she drifted off into a short nap. The movement of the speeder, and the rumble of the engine just seemed to lull her, though it didn't last long. Leia woke again, bleary eyed, and slightly confused before she saw the hand being offered. She quickly unstrapped herself, and took off her helmet before grabbing his hand to climb out of the speeder.

That strange feeling of familiarity hit her again, and she glanced at the figure waiting for them, then back at Obi-Wan. She tried her best to shrug it off for the time being. “I'm coming.” Leia replied, but it was barely louder than a whisper, as she tucked in behind him, keeping quiet unless he asked her to speak this time.

She did not sleep like she used to. In fact, since the magicks took hold of her, she could not remember the last time she had actually slept. A lot of nights she spent reading, and she tried to rest her busy mind. Lately she found that difficult. 

Though she was still young, and she ought to be able to enjoy that, Hela found that these days, she could not. Since the magicks took hold of her, the young one found it difficult to leave her chambers. She felt like a monster, from the tales in some of her books. When she gazed upon herself in the mirror, she did not see the whole of herself, she saw the death and decay, knowing her appearance sparked fear in many around her. 

Not her father though. He only knew one thing, and that was how to comfort her. Hela quietly curled up in his lap, tucking herself as small as she could. “Papa, I know no one will get me, I think the others fear that I will get them….“ If she could cry and shed real tears, she would, but, alas, she could not. “Would you teach me your magicks, so I can look normal again?“
