.. she longed to go alone far into the fields and hear the birds singing, the brooks tinkling and the wind rustling through the corn, as she had when a child. To smell things and touch things, warm earth and flowers and grasses and to stand and gaze where no one could see her, drinking it all in.
Flora Thompson : Lark Rise to Candleford (via pagewoman)
I went on a journey of self discovery today
adjusting the top of her string bikini, addison let out a small sigh as the wind hit her and she suddenly regretted wearing minimal clothing to this stupid carnival thing. luckily, sheād shoved a hoodie in her backpack so quickly telling sunny to sit, she pulled the fabric over her head. she wasnāt necessarily a big fan of events where the general public were crawling the already narrowed streets of surfside but sheād gotten okay tent-mates and she figured if she brought her dog along, itād give her an excuse to bail and go back home at any given moment. plucking a corona from a small cooler, she handed the vendor a five dollar bill, taking a seat right on the sand, watching as a few different people walked past her and over to the boardwalk.Ā āitās gonna be a long week, bud,ā she mumbled as the black dog took his spot next to her, a look of excitement on his face.Ā āat least one of us is excited.ā
not unlike any other day, prince spent their hours in a paradoxical situation. while they were an introvert, & preferred keeping to themself, they took great pleasure in learning about the intricate lives of others. while they loved being outside to breathe in what mother earth has to offer, they were often too busy looking down at a book to grasp the full visions the world had to offer. their own inability to keep some of their mind aware of their surroundings, is how they ended up running into a person, then a dog. an apology came tumbling from their lips before theyād even righted themself, but a shock upon seeing who theyād run into stopped their words cold. in lieu of anything else to say, they held out the cotton candy in their hand in silent offer.
āA good book makes you want to live in the story. A great one gives you no choice.ā ~^-^~
sheād never had a rough childhood, never had anything to complain about, never had something to tie to her constant anger and the raging hurricane inside her. addisonās life had been normal; two loving parents who might have been a bit on the blissfully ignorant side but sheād never truly had a reason to be so miserable. and yet, she battled with these inner demons on a daily basis- picking herself apart, pulling at her ends until she fell apart. maybe she was sick. maybe she was mentally unstable. maybe she was crazy. maybe somewhere down her bloodline, this disease that ate away at her was somewhere in the family. she hated everything about herself and then sheād met prince. someone who genuinely saw past the darkness surrounding her heart and hadnāt run away or let her push him away. and she cared about him, she felt so strongly about him and her heart beat so rapidly against her chest when he was within mere feet of her and she didnāt know why she was wasting her time fighting with him. all prince had ever wanted was for her to get better, to face her demons and get help. and she panicked and pushed him away and messed everything up.Ā āus always fighting. this little song and dance might work at parties and keep people entertained but iām not doing this at my fucking job, prince. so, go. talk to cassia and leave me alone.ā
even now, not talking to addison for a long period of Time twisted life into another universe. a dreary, grey-scaled dream universe. āthis little song and danceā were the only reprieves from the exhaustion that came of holding their head high every day. in the moment,Ā they couldnāt (wouldnāt) tell her that they missed her.Ā āfine.ā they walked back towards the entrance door, & turned back, mouth open. the moment lasted all of a second, until princeās brain caught up with their physical form, that they didnāt have anything to say. the door shut with a sliding click.
āand thatās why i think you should stop using that shampoo.ā zena finally finished ranting, now attempting to catch her breath from talking so fast.Ā āsorry, not to hate on your shit, but iāve just heard horrible rumors about it.ā she fumbled over her words, not bothering to make eye contact with the other.
prince generally didnāt put much thought into the shampoo they used, beyond what was cheapest & preferably organic, but they had a sneaking suspicion this encounter wasnāt actuallyĀ about hair care.Ā it would have been difficult to not notice zena avoiding eye contact. āwe have no obligations to be awkward with one another.ā their smile suddenly fell. āunless you would prefer such interaction.ā
iām so excited for the best week of the year! so⦠are you going to play pranks on other people with me or are you gonna risk being one of my targets?
... i donāt think itās very nice to go around pranking people.
