I doubt mercury would go all out in a fight with emerald. if they do fight in vacuo i think it’ll be because mercury is trying to figure out what’s going without actually asking and to make it seem like he’s still fighting on salem’s side to buy enough time to rethink his position and deflect

so I just realized how much of a wild card mercury is at this point in the series like rwby and ornj (and tbh the viewers too because he doesn’t get much screen time) know so little about what he’s capable of and I highly doubt emerald told them anything about him

they‘ve never seen him fight all out, they don’t know he doesn’t have a semblance so in a fight they’ll be trying to figure out what his semblance is, they don’t know how his prosthetics work so they can’t use that against him in a fight, they don’t know why he’s siding with salem or any of his motivations in general, they don’t know how he would react to emerald

all they know is the he is the enemy and he has metal legs (and as I write this I’m realizing how little they know about emerald as well)

I am very afraid that mercury is either not going to get a redemption at all or that he is going to die as his way of getting redeemed

If it is the latter I will be very mad, but if they do that I want emerald to keep something of his (kinda like how jaune has pyrrha’s crown in his shield) so that he’s not just gone from the show.
