As he approached the crossroads, the air changed gradually. It became denser, more humid and metallic. That’s new. The silence grew thicker.

The left path was the obvious choice.

The shadows cut deeper. The ink stuff was weird to the touch. The knight continued walking in pitch black, keeping one hand on the wall. It was hard to breathe. He wasn’t scared. Not at all.

The golden gates stood tall and alone. He slipped into the opening and looked at the Inside. The Inside looked back. D3rlord3 felt like he was in a dream: the kind of dream where your parts don’t listen to your brain; where you are deathly slowed, as if submerged in water. The eyes and limbs of the Inside crawled closer, waiting for an invitation. Time stopped its run to watch.

It knew it. God, it knew it all. The answers were laid right in front of the knight, like cards on the table. He just had to flip them.

He felt raw, violent, naked. Fear and excitement clogged his ears. Doubt blocked his throat.

He was curious. The Inside was curious too. So he gave in.
