I think the borrowed time is for sure a reference to his time in the military and the presumed traumatic event that caused him to lose his leg. And how he survived something he didn’t expect to just to lose his wife down the line too… yep definitely thinks he’s on borrowed time lol

Also love how he mentioned Jack is dorky as fuck!!

so I was let down by season 2 in this aspect but please let jack have a horrible time in season 3. His wedding anniversary? Her birthday? The day that she died?

Or it is just another shift, until a woman comes in with the same hair that she had, and dies the same way she did. What then?

Or his former in laws come in, and turns out they haven’t seen each other since her funeral, where some very heated words and more were exchanged.

The lowest point we’ve seen Jack is on the roof after an unsuccessful code of a veteran. If a veteran that he has no personally connection with have him feeling like this, I can’t begin to imagine cases with direction association with his dearly departed wife will be like.

my only complaint about Jack in the finale is that saying “my wife” instead of her name felt awkward (to the man who he is the emergency contact of nonetheless!) and felt like only did it in order to directly address the dead wife for the first time in show. I WANT TO KNOW THE NAME OF MRS ABBOT SO I CAN STOP CALLING HER MRS ABBOT. But also after the free birth pt I’m especially interested in the hc of his wife dying because of birth related complications/the abbots have lost a kid before she died. There’s some acting choices shawn made that could absolutely be seen that way. Regardless, GOODBYE JULY 4TH JACK ABBOT AND ILL SEE NOVEMBER JACK IN 2027!

Edit : apparently this is not true but keeping this up because of my headcannon for how she died 🙃

There’s so much potential and possibilities they have with Jack being a widow that I’m honestly really sad they most likely won’t use any of it. Because what do you mean Robby is crashing out, fighting with everyone, and if he fights with Jack, Jacks not going to mention how he lost everything too with his wife? Who should’ve been forever but no now he’s listening to police sirens at night, standing on the roof, and swat is his hobby because he can’t stand that empty home.

The possibilities are also endless with how she died. Like was it an unexpected diagnoses but expected death? Did she took her last breath being the shell of a person she once was after cancer took over?

Was it unexpected? Did they say goodbye one morning and the next time Jack see her, she was zipped up in a body bag?

And my new head cannon… did they lost a kid together? Going through the unimaginable, and then when it all seem slightly better she ended up killing herself. What now? Jack Abbot who lost his leg, his kid, his wife.

But no apparently Jack and Robby fight, Robby said you haven’t lost anything and Jack only said no I lost my leg. Maybe I’ll change my mind once i actually see it but MRS ABBOT YOU ARE REAL TO ME AND I WILL AVENGE YOUUUUU it didn’t even need to be that much I wanted to learn her name :(
