Like a month ago I messaged a craft group about accessibility for wheelchairs and the answer I got was “there’s a lot of stairs but we have cute boys who can carry you”. And it’s…not good. As a wheelchair bound person I largely depend on people when I want to go out and do *anything* so I’m used to it, I laugh it off, make an annoyed post about it and off I go. But I wanna just say a thing real quick.
Even if I wasn’t gay, wasn’t a survivor scared of men, getting help as a disabled person is just…Not a pleasant thing to us! Imagine for a sec how you’d feel being carried up a flight of stairs. You’re a grown person. You’re being touched in an awkward way. You’d rather do it yourself. You’re So Uncomfortable. It’s not where I look for the beginning of a romantic relationship. So like…could abled people stop doing this thing where they think helping us in a condescending and infantilizing way is cute? Cause I’m real tired. Just get me a ramp or lift and I’m cool. I don’t need a dating service when I’m just trying to go about my day

i get that americans love their cultural imperialism, but it really does piss me off that june is “international” pride month just because something happened in the united states.
in aotearoa, june isn’t our pride, it’s theirs. marsha p johnson and sylvia rivera are their historical figures, not ours. the phrase that “you owe your rights to Black trans women” is true there, but here we owe our rights to (mostly) Māori historical figures. i have the freedoms i do because of the legacy of an entirely different set of people operating in an entirely different context at entirely different times.
But because of american cultural imperialism, most queer people in Aotearoa don’t even know our own queer history. Carmen Rupe, Ngahuia Te Awekotuku, the Dorian Society, Gillian Laundon, Georgina Beyer, and the Wolfenden Association are some of our queer history. We should know their names! we should know what they did for us! but because of the power of the american imperial machine, we don’t.
our national pride month should be july, the month that the Homosexual Law Reform Act passed in 1986. our two largest cities hold their pride festivals in february and march, respectively. american queer history has very little (or nothing, depending on who you ask) to do with our queer history. anecdotally, from my own queries, queer youth in aotearoa know more about american queer history than our own.
anyway, happy pride, americans. i’m truly sorry that most of you don’t see the negative impact your nation’s culture has on the rest of the world. and to the rest of the world reading this, try searching for your own country and culture’s queer history, don’t accept the american narratives as your own. we deserve our own histories divorced from the cultural hegemony of the USA.

Hello all, hope you'll enjoy the upcoming Pride month content! This year, I'm planning to post comics every single day until the end of June. If you caught a glimpse at comment sections under recent strips, it has already pissed off thousands! It's just the beginning.
It's been a while since I gave you any life updates. My husband and I are still on the IVF train - it's slow but steady. We are being crushed under the weight of debts because of it, but at least we got to keep our car after this spring's threats, for those who wondered. Such is the price for growing our little queer family! At least we've got health.
I'm still trying to make a living from my art. I believe covering the internet with queer and trans comics and making bigots foam at the mouth is an important job, and you can help make it happen by getting me a coffee or by subscribing on Patreon. Every bit makes a huge difference!

Massive Video Game Buyout Deal Sparks Protest
From drug store closures to video game mega-deals to overpriced bowling, the role of private equity can often be found lurking behind the headlines. In this month’s edition of BUYOUTS, let’s take a look at just a few of the most important stories about private equity’s excesses over the past few weeks – and the efforts to rein in the industry.
Massive Video Game Buyout Deal Sparks Protest
The Players Alliance coalition recently organized a protest outside the headquarters of EA, the video gaming giant that is being acquired by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and Silver Lake and Affinity Partners – the latter being the investment firm headed by Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.
The LA Times noted that the coalition “believe the deal will likely lead to layoffs and other major cuts to the company, including replacing employees with AI technologies.” They also argue that EA’s debt will ultimately be paid by consumers.
CEPR’s Daniel Stone has written several pieces about this deal, which represents a striking combination of private equity greed and political corruption. As he wrote:
The deal marks the largest leveraged buyout in history, and while it will have adverse ramifications for gamers and the industry, the details of the acquisition reveal larger concerns around how President Trump’s son-in-law is monetizing his political connections while selling domestic industries to foreign interests.
Stone goes on to explain Kushner’s role as the bridge between the Saudi fund and US corporations, and that Kushner is seen as “providing political cover and regulatory protection in exchange for guaranteed fees.” It is encouraging to see the opposition to the deal is increasing.

Private Equity’s EA Takeover: Corruption, Contradictions, and Exploitation
I was excited to play Battlefield 6, the long-awaited update to Electronic Arts’ (EA) most popular military shooter series, this weekend after its launch on Friday. Following the disaster that was Battlefield 2042, this new iteration is promised to be “a return to form” with dedicated servers, destructible environments, and a campaign that might actually justify the $70 price tag.
Then Saudi Arabia and Jared Kushner bought EA, the very publisher behind the Battlefield franchise.
The whopping $55 billion acquisition announced on September 29 marks the largest leveraged buyout in history, bringing together a peculiar consortium of financial entities: Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), the kingdom’s $925 billion sovereign wealth fund with direct ties to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman; Silver Lake Partners, a large private equity firm in the technology space that is also involved in the ongoing TikTok negotiations; and Affinity Partners, the investment fund that is run by key Trump confidant and son-in-law Jared Kushner.
The EA acquisition is the latest example of how US oligarchs like Jared Kushner are selling out domestic infrastructure for personal profit, using Saudi capital as their vehicle. We see the full playbook through EA: private equity’s debt-fueled financial engineering destroys jobs and creative capacity while elites like Kushner use their political pull to circumvent security reviews by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the US (CFIUS), collecting millions in fees in the process. This represents not just financial extraction from the gaming industry, but a broader pattern of connected elites circumventing oversight mechanisms designed to protect workers and consumers.

All eyes are on Nebraska this week as it becomes the first state to implement a policy taking Medicaid coverage away from people not meeting
Nebraska is starting work requirements for Medicaid. They are pushing work requirements forward before it is required, and before guidance is released. This will likely cause more confusion for Medicaid enrollees, which may result in even more eligible people losing coverage.
And somehow a MAGA white racist will find a way to feel they are the "oppressed".
Black history is American history, and it absolutely needs to be documented and taught in schools.
Some say, “Well, I don’t want my child to feel guilty or uncomfortable.” Learning honest history isn’t about assigning personal guilt to children. But if discomfort comes from confronting ugly truths, that’s still far better than ignorance that allows harmful patterns to repeat. We don’t protect the future by sanitizing the past.
