look at me. hey. the real reason morgana starts being terrible to gwen is that she learns of gwen and arthur’s secret romance and she just can’t accept it. don't look at the screen look at me. she didnt just Turn Evil. morgana comes back to camelot only to find that not only does she not get to be with the one person she's always loved and trusted, but that person is now romantically involved with arthur. I love this scene so much! Everyone always talks about Leon here taking the pitcher from Merlin because these love struck idiots are too busy looking into each others eyes to notice the rest of the world. But when Leon takes the pitcher and Merlin quickly looks away Arthur takes that moment to look at Merlin’s face, you can see his eyes trail down to Merlin’s cheekbones, and probably wanting to look down at his lips, but he’s not granted that time as Merlin looks back to meet his eyes once again, so he quickly looks back up.

bbc merlin is a fun silly show that begs the question what if you were given a destiny you didn’t understand and you betrayed yourself time and time again in what you think is a selfless act of love that will serve a greater purpose, only for that to be the exact reason you fail and the undoing of the person you love most. and then the random filler episodes are like this witch is doing terrorism in camelot by sneaking magic mushroom bombs into the soup and merlin has to gaslight arthur into thinking he doesn’t like mushrooms or something idk
