how insane must it have felt to be an actor table reading for bbc merlin. alright anthony this week, you are driven mad by memories of the children you killed in your genocide. next week? bald.
Someone is enchanted every other week in Camelot, could Merlin and Gaius not just try explaining the situation to Arthur? Arthur doesn't need to know anything about Merlin's powers, in fact it would solidify Merlin as an ally in the fight against magic, as far as Arthur is concerned
DTIYS: BAMF Merthur edition 🔥✨ Zero rules, 100% vibes – reinterpret it however you like! And please tag me so I can see!
All those posts about "This week on the writer's thinly disguised fetish..." apply doubly to the writing team for BBC Merlin
MERLIN PEOPLE!!
If there was a community watch-a-thon event, would you participate?
Yes
Errrrr….
No
"Just... just hold me."
I really needed these words in a happier context.
I know the scene where Merlin tells Arthur he's leaving for Ealdor has been analysed to death, but the acting choices are so good.
The way Merlin swallows hard and searches Arthur's faces before he decides to tell Arthur it's been an honour serving him.
The change in Arthur's expression as he understands the implications. His frown, steeling himself, then almost tentatively asking Merlin, "you'll be coming back?" The reversion to joking insults to hide his pain when he realises Merlin won't.
So good.
You're like two sides of the same coin
Could Merlin not knock Uther out with magic and give him his own crappy sword when he wakes up instead?
Listen to the dragon, he's right
OK I need to start a list of where canon could have diverged and destiny could have been fulfilled, with Merlin and Arthur uniting the land of Albion
Leave the bug in Uther's ear in 1x06 and let Arthur believe it was a brain haemorrhage (Edwin "left" and couldn't save him, what a shame)
Let an innocent child die in 1x08. I don't think any of them should have actually done that
Take back Excalibur or shove Uther out to fight his undead brother-in-law in place of Sir Pellinor as soon as Gaius explained the situation
The way that Merlin says, “It could have been me in that cage,” especially so soon after the witchfinder incident… yeah
@ifmagicexists i feel entirely normal about this
