At SCMA, we strive to be the best. Professor Carlos Farias led our BJJ students to numerous 1st and 2nd place wins at the NAGA tournament. Way to go champs. You guys rock! www.standcommand.com
Muay Thai kickboxing is one of our many programs at SCMA. However, this isn't your gym or cardio kickboxing class. Taught by certified MT instructor Joel Mercado, this class focuses on footwork, technique, combos, and defense, as well as being a kick-butt workout. We have students ranging from stay at home moms to cage fighters benefiting from this class. In addition, we also teach Karate, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Combat Hapkido, Tai Chi, and personal training. Come train with the best! www.standcommand.com
We are so proud of our leaders! Our teen and adult classes are slammin'! Here you can see simultaneous Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Karate classes working hard on two of our three training floors. While others were stressing about Monday, these students were beginning their week relieving stress. Great job guys. www.standcommand.com
You Get What You Pay For!
Not all martial arts schools are created equal. Just as well, not all schools charge the same for their programs. You may just be paying too much, or too little, for your tuition.
Let's start with the "too little." And, yes, you could be paying too little for your training. There are a lot of after school programs, city programs, YMCA programs, etc. that offer a martial arts program on a budget. However, most of the time what you are getting, is a budget martial arts.
These programs are usually ran with limited class times, combined classes, limited material of what they can teach, and often led by someone doing martial arts as a hobby or part time. This is a great example of getting what you pay for.
Does Denny's have steaks? Of course they do. Are they cheaper than Outback Steakhouse? Much cheaper. Are they as good. Absolutely not. You get exactly what you pay for at both of these places.
Another way of looking at it is this. These programs are basically telling you what their program is worth. They are not worth industry standard tuition prices. Martial arts can be a priceless tool in your life, but only if you are learning from a professional, legitimate instructor, which are usually not found at these city and school programs.
What about paying too much? Although each school charges something different, there are industry standards just like any other type of business. Most legitimate schools charge between $90 and $160 for a single program, taking into consideration the area you live in.
Schools charging $175 - $200+ for a single program are most likely trying to accomplish one thing...make a lot of money. There's also the up-front cost. Again, it's standard for there to be an enrollment fee and uniform to purchase, however, there are some schools that will try to charge you for 3 years in advance, or demand first month, last month, and an incredibly expensive amount of gear to get started.
Bottom line, do not choose a martial arts school based on price. You should watch classes and ask if you can try a class out. Look at their websites, facebook pages, and twitter. Get a real sense of what and who they are and if it's the right fit for you. Then you can decide if the cost of tuition is worth the training.
Awesome!!!
Freaking Awesome!
To be the best, you have to train with the best. SCMA has numerous programs led by legitimate experts in their fields. Master Daniel Spalding - Karate and sport-karate. Coach Joel Mercado - Muay Thai and personal training. Master David Rivas - Combat Hapkido and defensive tactics. Professor Carlos Farias - Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Sensei Gail Cross - Tai Chi. Humility
Don't be bothered when people try to convince you of their lies. It proves they are pathetic lost souls. Be humble and happy in your own reality.
You are not the contents of your wallet.
Society has brainwashed men into thinking that their self-worth and confidence is tied to how much money they make, how big their house is, and what's in their garage. However, those are all physical things that can be taken away or lost. So, take away one's money and things, and you take away one's self-worth and confidence.
You cannot, however, take away experience and knowledge. There is unique, real confidence that comes from training in combat arts. In my opinion, a man should feel confident that he could defend his family if the situation ever called for it. That is a feeling that cannot be taken away.
SCMA's Sensei Spalding in Black and Blue video's App. This was shot for VHS a long time ago, but has made it to the new App age. If you were in NASKA in the 90's, it may be fun for a little nostalgia.
Just search Black and Blue Martial Arts in your App store. Go to browse and it's in alphabetical order. Enjoy.
