Jane Austen - "Sense and Sensibility"
What's the difference between being unattunted and being dissociated? The two seem very similar.
(Context)
Dissociation is a very broad term that can be broken into two categories. Compartmentalization and detachment.
I believe detachment can be further broken down into categories based on what you're detached from. In this case, it's types of nerves.
In our body, there are afferent and efferent neurons. Afferent neurons carry information from the body to the brain while efferent neurons carry signals from the brain to the body.
I would propose then that there are also two forms of detachment. Being unattuned is what I would classify as afferent detachment. You're detached and dissociated from the sensory signals being sent to the brain from the body.
Another form of detachment exists though where you feel everything, are completely attuned, but aren't in control. Tulpamancers refer to this as possession. This could be classified as efferent detachment.
And switching out completely utilizes both forms of detachment.
In short, being unattuned is a more specific and exact form of dissociation that cuts out a lot of the ambiguity in the existing terminology.
Being able to specify that you feel attuned but not in control, or that you're in control but unattuned, can communicate your experiences better than just saying you're dissociated.
Cooking is alchemy. Singing and dancing are prayers. Speaking is casting spells. Silence is the sound of listening. Going to sleep is going to awake. Taking a shower is a ritual of cleansing. Drawing is animating imagination. Completing tasks is completing quests. All is divine.

Before & After
Sometimes a room needs to be darkened so you can appreciate the light.
Do you ever wonder if we could still be friends? Like if nothing had ever gone farther than hugging would you be coming to my wedding? Would you be in it? I understand now why we didn’t work out, and I’m genuinely appreciative for it. My only thought on the subject is if there was ever room for us to be great, life-long friends.
