Why did Raven Symone post this
Meet 63-year-old Lyn Slater, who has, until recently, been an ordinary professor at Fordham University. One day she went to meet a friend for lunch outside the Lincoln Center during New York Fashion Week. Foreign journalists suddenly surrounded her, mistaking her for a fashion icon and attracting spectatorsIt was a defining moment that turned Lyn into an āAccidental Iconā. Her blog of the same name, inspired by the experience, soon began making international waves. She is now a public voice against ageism in the fashion industry and the world.
āFashion and my style help me struggle against that invisibility that comes with age.ā
She was once asked about the old notion of ādressing for oneās age,ā and her response was clear:
āWe use language to control peopleās behavior. This phrase is a way of putting older women in their place. Iām certain that if you feel comfortable in your own clothes, itās completely irrelevant how old you are.ā
No one confused her for nothing. She is a fashion icon.
Beautiful.

10 Things.
1. I havenāt used Tumblr in over a year. I used to love this thing, i donāt know how this piece of me got lost.
2. A lot happened since my last ā10 thingsā which appears to have been written in September of 2016.
3. In the last year, Iāve accomplished a lot. Iām most proud that I graduated with my Masters in Human Resource Management.
4. Iāve dedicated my time to being my best and happiest self. Iāve done a lot of self reflection, practiced a lot of self love, and self care.
5. Iāve traveled A LOT, for the low. I think i missed my calling to be a travel agent.
6. I surprised myself and started a business. I offer affordable career development services, and i think the concept of my brand is really cool. You can check it out at shopwritersblock.com
7. Iām currently on a social media detox, Iāve temporarily deleted Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat.
8. Youāre probably wondering what Iām doing on tumblr right now then... Iām wondering the same. But seeing as to how i donāt even use the thing, i havenāt identified it as a platform that i need to detox from.
9. In lieu of being on social media, Iāve been reading a lot. Iām only on day 3 of my detox, and Iām already on my 4th book (itās amazing what you have time to do when youāre not squandering it on nonsense!)... in my reading Iāve come across the concept of being ālikedā i donāt only mean that romantically. Itās quite an interesting concept to dissect, especially as i reflect on the reasons behind by detox.
10. I forgot how therapeutic this is for me. My aim isnāt for this to be read, but if you did read, I thank you for your time. This is really just for me to release my innermost thoughts into the airā those quiet thoughts that i donāt know how to share with those around me, but I need to release. I always appreciated Tumblr for that outlet.
it always really bothered me when wait staff ignored me + my friends just because we were young bc we are all really respectful people but the assumption was that we wouldnāt tip
anyway so fast fowards to when i became a waitress and one day this group of scrubbyass kids came in and i had 8 other tables with other people to look to but i overheard that one kid wanted a milkshake but he couldnāt afford it and the other kids offered to pay but he was like ānonono itās fineā and i looked over and he just looked real run down and sad and stuff ā- later it just so happened that our kitchen had a mixup so we had an extra shake and since it would just be dumped otherwise, i snuck it out to their table and gave it to him for free
and his friends were so fucking impressed by this they pooled every fucking cent they had i got a $50 tip and later his friendās mom came in and said āi heard what you did for that boyā and gave me another 20 and offered me a better job working with her
and meanwhile at my other table a rich white guy i was serving complained bc he didnāt want to pay the 15% tip on a $8.90 bill and when his wife said āsheās been a good waitress, though,ā he said, ābut just plainĀ good isnāt worth 15%ā
āI got to sing to him so my sister can get some sleep šš¶š¤ā
