Baby Life Quilt
Pattern by Vanessa Christenson
Second quilt made with hubby's old work shirts. I love how the top turned out, but new sewing machine and I probably should have done some more practice before committing.
The last picture was my original attempt at making a binding. Know how you think, "surely this piece is long enough, im good?" I gambled, and i lost. Lol.
Baby quilt for my cousin's grandbaby. Using the gridded fusible certainly made it go together quicker, but it's a little stiffer than I would like for a baby quilt. It did soften up considerably in the wash, thank goodness!
MY son (23) and his girlfriend are MUCH too young to have a baby (if that's what they decide), but I will confess to feeling a little gooey about a new baby in the family 🥰
I thought i was being so smart to use a gridded fusible to knock this baby quilt out quickly.
Mother's Little Helper here doesn't seem to realize it's a one person job....
One thing they don’t tell you about sewing is that it is actually ironing
Snow Geese by Jean Nolte
I decided to recycle some of my husband's shirts to make this. My first time using no waste flying geese blocks. Turned out ok! I've got more fabric left and a plan for another one.
Our Flag, Our People
The quilt was my entry in the 2024 Cherokee Nation Homecoming Quilt show. The theme for the weekend was "Weaving our Future."
I used the colors of the Cherokee flag - orange, yellow, brown, green, white and black. The extra red stripe was in honor of MMIW. You probably can't tell, but the white fabric actually has symbols from the Cherokee Syllabary on it, which I ordered from Spoonflower.
Pattern was Plaidy Cake by Allison at Cluck Cluck Sew
Welp. Sewed one block wrong. Probably a sign to quit for the night.
Quilt #2 of 2024 is done! No real pattern, just alternating hourglass blocks and solids. (It was supposed to be a stash buster, but I swear I have more fabric than when I started! 🤣)
Bonus picture of my neighbor's outdoor cat, Sonny. (His sister Cher is the indoor cat).
Ahhh, the age old question - how the #&!#? to quilt it?????
I actually finished this last month, but I didn't get any decent pictures until this weekend.
Pattern is Corolla by Sew Mariana.
1st quilt of 2024 in the books!
Still needs borders and I have no idea how to quilt it, but lookit! I actually made something!
crochet, knitting, sewing... any kind of fiber art given to another person is just so indescribably filled with love. and i think part of that is bc it is a process. the gradual nature of creation. the stitches you create with yarn and your hands is replicated in your heartstrings. every stitch was made with consideration, counted and recounted. by the time the gift is complete it is heavy with love. it says: this is the part of my heart that you reside in, please handle it with care.
I've been quilting for almost 20 years. This week I finally bought a design wall. I could have sat in front of this sucker all day, just moving blocks around. Didn't decide on a final layout, but that's neither here nor there.

Greek Cross Quilt
I've had this top done for awhile. Finally decided this was the time to get it finished. 🥳
Star Pop II - by Emily Dennis of Quilty Love
Second quilt of 2023!
My word for 2023 is "Light" - I want to shine, to glow, to ignite, to sparkle, to illuminate. To lighten up and lighten my load - physically, mentally and emotionally. So I'm collecting images of stars, sunflowers, candles etc to remind me. This would make a cute baby blanket, but for now its going to grace the wall in my living room.
First completed project of 2023!
Pattern is "Chips Alignment" by Sally Trude. Her version has a low flow white background, but my stash is overflowing with darks, so I changed it up.
