Dust to Dust
Okay, so let me talk about this for a bit.
I’ve said time and time again that Modern Warfare 2 has one of the best soundtracks in ALL OF GAMING, and i still maintain that opinion.
Set during the “Enemy of my Enemy” mission, where Price and Soap fight through a field of “dead” airplanes, trying to make it through not only Makarov’s ultranationalist forces, but General Shepherd’s villainous Shadow Company, to reach Nikolai’s C-130.
Prefaced by the previous events of the game (No Russian, finding Price in the Gulag, Russia’s push into the United States, Shepherd double crossing Roach and Ghost), you’ve already got a sense of the stakes entering the mission, but it’s music like this, that puts you right in the center of this massive-scale conflict.
It’s stuff like this where COD doesn’t get enough credit for.
COD - Makarov by the-evil-legacy
Call of Duty: Ghosts by DevilKazz
Makarov's Demise (CODMW3 Alternate End) by Hangmen13
Ghost/GIGN Spec Ops Shoot 10th Feb 2012 by Hangmen13
COD Modern Warfare 2 Ghost - RAGE 2012 by Hangmen13
Captain «Soap» MacTavish / Simon «Ghost» Riley
>sticking a gun into someone's mouth
>not even having any trigger discipline
yes because that's exactly the sort of professionalism you'd expect from special forces operators and what with all the shit Ghost went through in Mexico I expect he'd be perfectly OK with this

Usually, I only reblog things that I like, but I saw this and made an exception, because I don’t like it. It’s jarring.
If you want to make us of this particular quote from the game, you could at least do so with a design reference to the actual clocktower, which I’ve covered as being a classic design of its era previously. I just think that if you’re going to use the clock as a reference, the design should reflect that.
Secondly, what is going on with the justification of the words and format of the paragraph below the picture. Those words aren’t even connected in any meaningful way, yet they’re dressed apart. I mean “names, “honor” and “memories” I can understand, but all this now reminds me of is the sequence in Heathers where Keifer Sutherland’s character is highlighting random sequences in books to make it appear that some of the other characters were suicidal prior to him murdering them.
Thirdly, not really sure what’s going on with the terrible shade of grey.
Y’know, there’s constructive criticism and then there’s 2 paragraphs and a bit of unnecessary trite.
The design really doesn’t need to have a reference to a clocktower - just because it’s mentioned at the top doesn’t mean it has to explicitly be there. As for saying “which I’ve covered as being a classic design of its era previously” well that’s great but not everyone reads your blog.
If you don’t like it don’t reblog it. Or make your own edits the way you want them. We have so few people making edits - and damn good ones thank you very much - for the cod series, we need don’t people “making exceptions” to add a rant like this just because they don’t like it and discouraging them.
