We honestly doubt FRART is going to get any more updates. the retcon killed a lot of our plotbugs, sadly. That’s not to say it’s impossible, but it’s not something we’re planning on, sorry :(

I'm pretty sure you won't, since it's been 3 years, but might as well ask: Do you ever plan on updating or finishing Fruity Rumpus Afterlife Roadtrip? It's one of the best, most in-character fics I've read. Loved the sulky Dave parts.

we saw your questions but have been kinda irl busy the last few days! the short answer is ‘kinda’. the longer version is that we both still want to add to the ‘verse, especially some post-retcon stuff, but we’re just super busy! we still love it and still enjoy discussing potential ideas, but i’m always working on perfect little freaks and lyra’s taken up streaming a lot so it’s a time thing these days, unfortunately.

I think we intentionally left the Dave<>Karkat confession offscreen. partially because we figured it was up to interpretation, and partially because I’m sure they were both so pathetic about the whole thing it’d be embarrassing to watch.

I think Terezi does pitch flirt with Aradia, but aside from Aradia being like “That’s sweet but I’d rather not commit to anything until this whole thing is over” it doesn’t go anywhere - if that did show up, it’d be maybe a page or two at most. Gamzee though - that we could probably go somewhere with, and honestly need to. We know it happens just after Terezi’s wriggling day in this version of things...

I’m about 3/4 of the way through a fic that helps fill in the gaping hole, meteor-side (there’s so much prospit cuteness in our series right then) between High Bloods and Frond Blood and Cultural Exchange. I’m pretty excited to have it be our ~triumphant return~, and by pretty excited I mean I’ve got 7000 words already :D It’s something that helps piece together the sparkly trail, while also giving us a look into Kanaya’s state of dealings.

I do so want to get more things written with the girls, but I’ve got nothing substantial T_T

we’re still working out how to play around with the retcon! we want to keep the pre-retcon timeline we had going, but we also want to explore how vriska fits into the picture and how the relationships are all so different post-retcon. we’ll definitely have some vriska in future! -orange

Yo, hey, so.

Lyra here to state the obvious: 90% of what we wrote now takes place in a retconned universe (the remaining 10% being stuff that could still feasibly take place in the new, but.) It’s Homestuck, this kind of shit should come as no surprise.

We certainly may continue writing Fruity Rumpus Afterlife Road Trip, when we’re not distracted by other things (I’ve firmly thrown myself at other fandoms, while Orange is back into the swing of Perfect Little Freaks). We definitely still have a few ideas written down. We’ve already come up with ideas for the new timeline (which I’m debating calling Fruitier Rumpus Afterlife Road Trip), and with Homestuck once again fully in swing it’s probably going to take up enough of our attention spans for fic to happen.

In the mean time, I wanted to make a masterpost. One nice image at the top and a brief rundown of each fic after it. Ideally I’d like that image to be a cool piece of fanart relating to the story, but since neither Orange or I can really draw, if left to us it’ll just be a cropped panel with some text thrown over it.

In other words, I’m making a call for fanart.

If you’re someone who’d like to do it for the fun of it, please contact us and we’ll talk to you about what you’d like to do. If you’re someone who does art for pay and are genuinely interested in FRART, still contact us because I do have a small budget I could use toward people who really do like our fanseries and would like to see their art in it.

And by that I mean, while a title card is the one thing we need to get out of this, spreading more art into all of FRART would be a dream come true.

If this is your first time hearing about Fruity Rumpus Afterlife Road Trip and you’re a fan of the meteor crew or golden ship derps, I’ll insert my bias here and say you should totally go read it.
