KPDH Gambit Trivia: 18
Fun fact about Korea! Korea was actually not part of any of the Opium Wars; both the First War (1839–1842) and Second War (1856–1860), but was still affected by it all the same. During the time when both Opium Wars were going on, Korea was actually under strict isolationism and national seclusion by their current kingdom/government. Because of this extreme isolationism, Korea had managed to safely bypass much of the conflicts.
When the Korean government began to watch China's struggles with the opium trade and the devastating impacts of addiction following suite, Joseon rulers enacted a ban, strictly outlawing opium, classifying it as a dangerous, punishable contraband long before it ever began starting officially opening its borders to the outside world.
However, upon China's defeat in the Opium Wars, the rule of the Qing dynasty was drastically weakened. This loss of Chinese power had allowed for Korea to eventually assert its own independence (though it soon fell under Japanese control).
Though Korea avoided the British-driven opium trade in the 1800s, it later faced a different narcotics crisis under Japanese rule. By the 1930s, the Japanese Government-General heavily promoted poppy cultivation in Korea, operating factories to produce and export morphine and heroin across the region.
Korea produced a small amount of opium during the earlier years of the colonial period, but by the 1930s, Korea had become a major exporter of both opium and narcotics, becoming a significant supplier to the illicit drug trade, specifically to the opium monopoly created by the Japanese-sponsored Manchukuo government.
The sale and consumption of drugs were considered pervasive in Korea, where the country faced a substantial domestic drug abuse problem, appearing in the form of opium-smoking and morphine addiction.
It is because of this history, that today South Korea maintains its status as having some of the strictest anti-narcotics laws in the world, treating the historical legacy of the 19th and 20th-century drug trade as a crucial lesson for modern societal health.
Now be that as it may, the Underworld does not follow the same rules and over time various narcotics have long since been cultivated from the various plants scattered throughout, from various pipe-smokes, to more recognizable tinctures.
At some point in time, being one very proficient in tranquilizers and pain meds, Moonassi had eventually come up with what was hell's version of laudanum; with him originally having his own variant when he was back down in the underworld.
Often produced similarly much like how old-style laudanum once was, hence the name of some of his more popular combo's; Laudan; it consisted sometimes normally of 10% powdered (whatever the fuck he decided at the time but what was basically the equivalent of 1% morphine) by weight mixed with often high-proof Alcohol, though his most popular was usually bottled Rice Wine or something similar like Liquor.
Originally created as a way to get demons to take certain concoctions without having to hear consistent complaints about the taste, Moon's Mixtures became popular for its sedative effects and it wasn't long before Demons had actually begun taking it to help with the voices and nightmares. It was noted, upon consumption, that while it never silenced them, Moon's concoction had actually made the one whose drank it feel so relaxed and steady that anything Gwi-Ma said apparently didn’t matter for a certain point, which thus had made it popular, especially for it's varying degree's of potency.
Even Jinu had begun taking it at some point…
and that it’ll continue to be there too

happy pride month everyone! i made this piece specifically for june and it means a lot to me, especially for pride
kpop demon hunters had a very complicated relationship to me, but it was refreshing to see the directors and writers not shy away from its queer themes especially in today’s climate
Mira's artistic skill ft.mayonaisehong
Derpy tiger cub! Alternatively, Jinu could just be bad at making appropriately sized hats. 🤣
Compilation of all the times Huntr/x all wear the exact same facial expression/are all being goofs
(btw the entire sequence before this is them wearing the exact same expression, so I just picked a few, so as not to, like, just show the entire movie in screenshots)
I know it's animated and easier to do if they all have the same expressions and stuff, but they do each have their own mannerisms, so the fact that they share so many and are so silly together idk just... polytrix, y'all.
(I had way more screenshots, but then deleted the ones that weren't almost exactly all the same expression since there's a 30 image limit per post)
I feel INSANE

This whole time, my preferred story if things HAD to go the way of Celine actually being responsible for Miyeong’s death, I wanted it to go more or less like this (and I am SO happy how close I got)
They may choose to delve into this in the sequel, and it could be a good source of conflict. To have Celine, who fucked up. Like really fucked up. But her love for Rumi is undeniable, even with her reservations about the patterns. (And god, Rumi fully demoned-out taking swings at Celine and Celine not fighting back despite the threat because the threat is RUMI. I need that scene properly animated. Like NOW)
Huntrix is so cool I wish they were real
Original
rumi no baby let's not do that
i find it funny if after the events of the movie zoey & mira still didnt give a fuck abt Jinu dying like Yeah Rumi we're sad that you're sad but come on the guy was killing people :
