Cillian is so team Grace you guys I’m dying.  In this bloody interview  he said he was heartbroken when he read that Grace was going to die because he loved the character so much. He talked about how she revived some of the light and joy in Tommy that he had left in the trenches. He talked about how he loved Grace’s duality of being a loving wife but also a strong and tough woman. Basically Cillian was hoping for all the same things we were guys and that kills me. It’s so apparent in this interview and although he would never down-talk SK’s writing (don’t bite the hand that feeds you) you can tell he was hoping for all the things that got taken away from us. Which honestly, makes me love him so much more. 

He even said “Tommy needs a good woman doesn’t he, really, to keep him together.” Which rips out my heart because there will never be someone as perfect for Tommy as Grace. She was written as his soulmate. It’s literally mentioned several times that they understand each other on a level unlike anyone else. “You’ve seen me” “And you’ve seen me” “We can talk, we’re the same.” etc. and SK blew that all to shit. Cillian also mentioned that the thing he hoped people would notice that he had been trying to play in undertones was the soft/sweet side of Tommy, which was clearly mostly brought out by Grace. Now that she’s gone I’m afraid my favorite aspect of Tommy will be too, his softer/gentler side. :(
