Someone asked me what I think about Alonzo and Munkustrap's relationship (ty very much) and here is my incredibly straightforward answer:

My brain insists that Alonzo is aroace and Munkustrap just doesn't have time to date anybody but I do think that, as a result of how much time they spend together, they would accidentally fall into a QPR. The old cats think they have a strong bro thing going on, the kittens think they're dating, but at the end of the day, they're just the folks that need to massage the knots out of one another's backs while sharing deep conversations they'll never have with anybody else

Maybe it's because I've been watching Interview with the Vampire, but I want there to be a horror non-replica of Cats.

Everyone jokes that it's about a cult anyways, maybe someone should embrace that and make an explicit version that's about cats wanting to be ritualistically sacrificed. Vampire AU, Werecat AU, Cannibalism AU, IDK, just something horror.

The Deuteronomy brothers and more

As stated in previous part - I believe that 'Cats' would work great as an animated series. That's why for my own amusement I started this little project for now called 'Cats! Animated'.

Will I ever truly animate anything with my character designs?

Yes. Most likely. But of course, for fun only. This idea has been in my mind for years now, but that's all you need to know for now.

This series is going to take place in 1980s, so I am going to try to incorporate bits of 80s culture into designs. It is going to depend on the overall vibes certain characters give me, theater costumes and the poems.

For example, Macavity is heavily based on 1880s fasion instead of 1980s, because the cat in the poems is inspired by Professor Moriarty. There's visible contrast between nice clothes and unkempt, sharp fur that shows his two-faced nature. The stripes are a reference to his electric powers. And he has irregular whiskers (4 & 3).

Munkustrap's concepts also show how his hair normally looks like. But as a Jellicle Ball organizer he cannot afford to look wild like one of his brothers, can he? I went for a softer approach with him, a bit preppy. His stripes are incorporated into waistcoat (and as you'll see later, he matches with his bestie Alonzo), his belt is based on his collar and, since there was a lack of chains after Tugger, he got one.

You can also see here very rough sketches of Demeter & Bombalurina. These ladies have much more 80s to their designs. You'll read about them in my next post!

Aaand Tugger was changed a bit. He has now *rock*star shaped fur, his colors were toned down a little, his shapes sharpened. In the beginning I gave him gold accents to contrast with Misto's silver, but unfortunately that didn't work for him. I also had to erase his dark eyeliner like stipes (simply, because he looked too old). 'Cat Call' is the name of his rock band (I know. I outdid myself on this one).

Here's some very dumb concepts. Yes, I really work like that.

Both Munkustrap and Macavity are Turkish Angora mix (kudos to anyone who guesses the second breed, it's really not that hard). They're aged 33 and 36.

Tugger is a Maine Coon. He's 21. Misto's 19.

Munkustrap. is the jelicles protector. But who protects him.?. Safe. Is. an emotion he hasn’t felt in many many years. Not since he was a kitten and macavity. When there was still a smile in his eyes would tell him and tugger scary stories. Then comfort them both when he went too far. Not since he felt. like the world didn’t rest on his shoulders. That his brother would be there to help carry the weight. Has Munkustrap felt protected.

A "vibe swap" between Misto and Tugger *exploding head emoji*

Mistoffelees is now very picky and tricky; he knows he's magically talented and wears the title of Original Conjuring Cat *another exploding head emoji* with pride (GAY PRIDE, HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!). He loves putting on a show and annoying the older toms by playing tricks on them. He's a very noisy presence within the junkyard, and has probably had a number of shoes thrown at him.

Rum Tum Tugger is now more reserved and prefers to spend most of his time off on his own (he already spends a lot of time in the actual show off on his own, so this works out just fine). He has a tendency to assume that people are talking about him, and often ends up mildly embarrassed to discover that they were not. He very much enjoys watching Misto get up to his magical shenanigans, and is always there to cheer him on. He takes great care in his appearance, and flaunts it upon being given enough encouragement. Munkustrap is so proud of him!!!! He's excellent on the bagpipes and knows just when to play them!!!
