We're so back
Reading tcf again and I had a realization that blew me out of the water.
Not only is it an unreliable narrator story, the narrator simply... Does not spell things out. You have to pick things up from context clues and body language, like this is some kind of game. It's crazy.
Like, here's some stuff that's NEVER EXPLAINED (in the parts I read, which was up to chap 600~)
Cale's trigger is whenever any child is in danger or hurt. His behavior immediately changes, even if he doesn't acknowledge it to us. It's especially obvious when he finds the crown for the first time.
Cale's gets self destructive when he's stressed. If he starts being weirdly self sacrificial or vindictive? He's stressed out of his MIND.
He's extremely petty about anyone who looks down on him. He convinces himself he's not, but it takes *ages* for him to forgive that kind of slight. And in some cases, it's enough to damn a person for good.
He actually has very obvious emotional tells that other characters have picked up on + they have already realized the points above and act accordingly when they see them.
Like, seriously. I thought I understood the subtleties of the story, but it took until now to see these traits. I was always kinda confused why he acted the way he did.
I can read Cale coughing up blood and him fainting, but Cale CRYING?! That, I canāt handle! In this chapter Cale was trying to prevent a large tsunami from destroying Hainan, the island where The Blood Cult headquarters is and everything was going ok so far, Cale was reaching his limit however he had to buy Raon time to sealed the power of the world tree the Purple bloods left behind. The crybaby informed Cale that he hadnāt reach his limit yet so he keeps going when all of a sudden his head starts to hurt! Heās in such excruciating pain that heās barely keeping it together, but he keeps going!!šthe pain was so bad that heās crying and biting his lips so he doesnāt make a sound!! I just canāt handle seeing him in pain!! Heavenly Demon explains that Cale was sort of absorbing everything around him and it was more that he could handle, and that if he kept doing his head will explode!!!! Ancient powers are going crazy cause they donāt know what to do!! Cale kept fighting the tsunami while he was in pain! And leaning on Beacrox so he doesnāt fall. He was like, āLetās endure it. Arenāt I pretty good at that? Iāll get used to the pain if I keep enduring it.ā Like what?!š itās too much!! Choi Han, lil Sui and Beacrox are all showing different reactions and donāt know what to do, itās a mess!! š
Book 2, chapter 192, āMy goodness. The sea, the sea!! (18)
Holy hell- I just got a realization!
Choi Jung Gun- Nelan Barrow- He hates the Hunter and wants to end them. I always wonder about the reason, have thought it was something personal after he became a Wanderer.
But I got blindsided.
One of the reasons has always been there, hasn't it?
The Ancient White Star and the current White Star āCale Barrowā.
The Hunters are the ones behind both of them.
The Ancient White Star is the cause of all of his friends' deaths. I think that CJG has grown to love the Nameless 1 World a lot after he got dropped there. And the Ancient White Star and the Hunters were ruining it.
The current White Star, his supposed descedant, broke an Oath that he made with his friend, Sheritt because of the Hunters's plotting. He took away the eggs of her kids whom CJG might have a chance to call his ānephewsā.
Choi Jung Gun must hate both of them so much and as a result, also hate the Hunters.
Of course, the Hunters also are just very awful in general. And there might be more to his desire to end them.
Yes!
Happy Christmas to all of you!
Part 2 got me like: What in the A03 is this? š
Ohh, just a contractā¦. š
Anyway, 10/10
I love this part in part II because:
Cale, thinking about the past before he transmigrated, which is *technically* his past: I used to be trash, a total alcoholic.
Everybody: !!!
And you can easily see how OG!Cale Henituse (now Kim Rok Soo) could potentially talk about *his* past like that too.
Kim Rok Soo, talking about a past that is *technically* his: ah yes, I guess I had an abusive childhood, but at least the orphanage where I was left was ok, nobody was breaking my bones.
Everybody: !!!
Headcanon:
Raon (who I believe has a little bit of separation anxiety) wakes up one day asking himself āwhat if the human is sent back to his original world?ā
Of course Raon would never let that happen or if it did, he would go to that world and bring the human back, but he needs to know: how would he look like over there?
Raon: Human, human! What if you get sent back? Human! How can I recognize you?! Human! Tell me! Human, was your hair red too?
Cale, resting on a hammock: What? But, Iām staying right here????
Raon: Human, tell me! Iām just curious! Were you cool like me?
Cale, getting flashbacks of him using Instant: Not really?
Flashforward to an art commission to paint KRS
I imagine Eruhaben (ancient Dragon with about 1000 years), watching and supporting Cale and Raon the same way a seasoned elder would care for a rebellious runaway teenage single father and his energetic toddler son.
This teenage child that is barely 19 years old (compared to his almost 1000 years(!)) is now the guardian (?!) of another baby (how?). Of course he would tag along, these children would be lost without him!
Iām dying, I love Cale being a little bitxh ā„ļø
Same energy š
Spoilers on the White Star below
I was thinking about the curse on the White Star, which affected KRS.
Do you think he had insomnia? I remember that he did not take his days off as a team leader and kept busy. Maybe the curse made him not being able to sleep properly? To rest?
People want what they canāt/donāt have, if I had such problems, I would absolutely dream about being a slacker too!
Sorry guys, I love this part, but at first I read this:
But all I could think about was this:
.... dear person, how convoluted is it to make the honorable you to lost track....?
Humbly allow me to visualize the chaos currently festering in my brain
stop treating killing dragons as this act of bravery and valor. maybe ou should be kissieng and loving the dragons instead. and be more niceys
Starting to re-read TCF and I noticed how every time Cale earns an ancient power, he starts calling them out like āhow annoying/I wouldnāt do thatā, and etc. HOWEVER, he never says anything about the Super rock because they are the same!!!! (At least until this part below šš)
Vewy self-indulgent
