"First and Last Light" unlike most of the morning paintings I do- this one took a couple of days to come together- so I just decided to let it have its way and flow. In the end, there are a couple of things I would have done differently like adding more light magenta on the upper left side. But ultimately as my views of life evolve, I find myself more and more paralleling life with my art techniques. In the case of this painting- I let it flow and then let it rip at the end with the splatters. One thing I love love love about getting older is the new found depths of self-love that I’ve been able to discover within myself. Over the past couple of years I’ve allowed myself to feel- to really feel all the ranges of emotions that life gives us. What I’ve found is that, tapping into those emotions has made my life that much richer. I’ve learned to listen to my intuition more, that still small voice that isn’t really a voice at all.   But rather a soft, subtle feeling - a knowing. It is that feeling that tells us to turn right when the directions say left or to go when everything and everyone says stop. It has made the way I approach creating art totally different. In my 20′s, I always felt like I had to have an idea or something to say. But now, I can put a blank canvas on the easel and just let it flow. I tap into my emotions and let whatever energy is inside of me to translate itself on the canvas in color. Last year in April- I found myself on a long road trip at a time when everything in life just seemed so uncertain. But even in the midst of such inner turmoil, there was one thing I held tight to and that was the vision that the creator gave to me all those years ago. Every time I think about, I get an overwhelming sense of peace that truly passes understanding. It is a feeling that reminds me that no matter what I see with my natural eyes in this realm that #all is not only well but that #all is #alwayswell It amazes me still to see a thought turn into a sketch and finally into a color work of art full of texture. This painting is officially one of my new faves!

Merry Christmas to allllll my family and friends all the way from NOLA. I woke up this morning really really in the Christmas Spirit as I watched my sister and nephews sleep. Here's my gift to the world this morning. A Christmas Painting! As I looked at this piece, it reminds me so much of the this one Christmas when I was in college. My sister and I Begggged my parents to come home. The flight we wanted was at 7 pm on Christmas Eve. ... they didn't pay for the flights until 5 pm.
