the trefle-picques veelas of versailles

↳ it is said that marie and their father frederic were destined to be together. some who believed in old tales believed they had to be veela mates for they were perfect for eachother. marie had been a daughter to a powerful figure in the monaco ministry, here in paris to meet with the french minister and so she had come along for fun, when they had first met. frederic ( a duke from birth, distantly related to muggle royalty from france ) had been in attendance at the ministry that day to see his father and they had instantly fallen for the other. their four beautiful daughters soon followed their marriage and they became a prominent family in both wizarding and muggle world alike, socialites invited to every party, non magic or not.

now the sisters live in the trefle-picques estate, aside from their now estranged sister victoire who married a man they could not respect. instead they tried to support and protect her children as much as they could, from the monster she now called husband. desdemona greengrass in particular took a great adoration for her aunts and happily spent summers there to avoid her father’s brothers, helping her through her worst times. they were her true family and support her in everything she does now. it was her aunts in fact that helped land her the position of intern to the french ambassador, where they hoped she would soon take over the said position. something that is now a dead dream. 

veronique trefle-picques, 46 (taraji p. henson)

eldest of the four sisters, you’d have thought she’d have been the most responsible but that was absolutely not the case. veronique was always bright, people drawn to her like a shining star. at every party she was surrounded by crowds of people who hung on her every word, easily the most charming of all the sisters ( a trait that her niece, desdemona, would also inherit from her ). this won her two husbands but both sadly died and now she lives happily with her two youngest sisters in the sizeable trefle-picques estate left to them by their parents.

victoire had always desired more than her sisters. the most beautiful of them all, and yet the most reserved. she never felt like she fully fit with her sisters, couldn’t take part in their antics that she only viewed juvenile. always scolding veronique for being too brash, vivienne for speaking her mind, and vilette for her coquettish behaviour. why couldn’t they all behave as good girls should? did they not want a husband? in truth their parents never pushed their girls into anything, only wanting them to do what made them happy. victoire thought her parents too relaxed, they were already judged by some pureblood families simply for their veela blood. the moment she met louis greengrass, she saw an out, a chance to climb higher than her siblings. get into the social circles with women that would be like her. she married and never looked back, and she detested how close her eldest became with her sisters. even her own daughter could fit in with the family she had left behind.

vivienne trefle-picques, 40 (kerry washington)

vivienne was a perfect middle, a mix of all her sisters. she had the assertiveness from veronique, always ensuring her voice was heard over the men who wished to silence her. from victoire she took her calm nature, often working to resolve any arguments that were so frequent between the fiery sisters. and from vilette, she had the soft innocence although she was not anywhere near as naive. she was the most intelligent of the sisters, preferring the company of a good book than a party. she knew many ridiculous facts that she would often spout at the dinner table, something her father found the most amusing. she didn’t marry and instead devoted her time to learning, now a professor at a wizarding university after teaching history of magic shortly at beauxbatons.

the baby of the family, vilette often got into trouble for luring in the locals. muggles who had seen her ( walking the streets of paris in pink satin dresses perfectly outlining her figure, smile brighter than sunlight and with a veela glow to match ) had even taken to calling her angel, the siren of the city. whilst her sisters tended not to use their abnormal magic charms to benefit them, vilette couldn’t help herself for she adored the attention she garnered. it was all innocent fun for that was exactly what she was. very naive in comparison to her sisters and ignored the evil in the world. vilette also chose not to marry, preferring to keep many partners instead.

andrien greengrass, 53 (brad pitt)

the eldest of the five brothers. his charming demeanour and intelligence was enough to keep him out of azkaban and bed duchess victoire trefle-picques of versailles, his brothers wife. after the death of their father, andrien became the new patriarch of the greengrass family and louis resented him for it.

louis greengrass, 43 (leonardo dicaprio)

being always second to andrien had taken its toll. despite never participating in the deeds of his brothers, louis almost felt compelled to join up in the building war. with only the pleas of his cheating wife to convince him otherwise. he feels a need to prove himself to a man that had always scared and bullied him, belittled his every move. everything he did, andrien did better and that included romancing his wife.

cyprien greengrass, 37 (tom hiddleston)

he quickly followed his brother sébastien into prison, although this was unexpected for the family as he always had seemed quite level headed. had a settled family job and was really the quiet one in the family. the children missed uncle cyprien coming round, but were never told just where he went. the greengrass children always so sheltered, even from the dark deeds their family committed.

twin to cyprien, the only daughter born to master greengrass and the only one to escape the vicious cycle her brothers were trapped in. after marrying someone she deeply loved ( and having many sons ), louis was secretly envious of his sister who had found happiness in a life that mirrored his own. they’d both found someone they cared deeply for and had many children, yet louis could not yet be content which forever haunted him.

sébastien greengrass, 38, (bradley cooper)

the first of the greengrass brothers to be sent to azkaban and is now completely deranged. with no children or family of his own, all the children find him terrifying and used to hate when their unpredictable uncle came to stay. namely mona who always found his leering gaze too much. it was he who abused his own niece, having always found it disgusting that his older brother had married a veela.

enzo greengrass, 33 (chris hemsworth)

enzo had always been strange, taking all too much after seb who he adored. even as a child he was the one pulling legs off spiders. so it was no surprise that he was sent to azkaban for murdering a family of muggles for fun. of course, all the greengrass brothers prison sentences were quickly covered up to save the reputation of the family. but the world had to whisper about just what had happened to the three youngest greengrass sons.

at age fifteen, maya started dying her hair pink, something about it sticking despite her job as a lawyer. the colour reminded her of sunsets, kindness, and riley, so she’s always just kept her hair pink as a way to keep those things close to her.

everything for maya is basically the same but here’s some new things underneath. 

maya is now twenty because her birthday was the 24th of june

she’s really invested in the muggleworld

she started studying environmental law in her sixth year, her parents completely unaware that’s what she was doing

she worked in a law firm during her summers as an intern to get a hands on experience 

she’s now an environmental lawyer for a pretty big firm and is gathering popularity among other firms

she’s still bi af and still really focused on making the world better

her parents disowned her and now she works with the order, not caring about who she upsets in her family about it

she’s been at a lot of activist protests on animal cruelty, equality and the environment

she’s seen the back of a police car quite a few times but she’s never gotten arrested as they were always peaceful protests

her older sister and brother still means the world to her and she still does everything to keep them safe

still completely in love with riley

no longer sees the good in people, finding that she just wants to see them for exactly what they are except the ones she loves, she’s always biased towards them ( ie the malfoys who she still sees as good people )

also still stubborn, gets into fights occasionally and argumentative as fuck

as soon as maya left hogwarts, she got two tattoos. one on the inside of her left arm that is the shape of lavender and another her ribs that is three small outlines of the moon, sun, and a star. she’s going to be getting more as she figures out things that are importance to her and she certainly wants something literature related but she hadn’t found the right thing yet.

a little piece of gossip ;; tidbit

maya spent her time at hogwarts orchestrating a number of clubs, however, there were only two that she stuck with. the first was an environment club in which they would try to find ways to make hogwarts more economically friendly and to spread awareness of the things that were killing the earth and it’s creatures. the second, was a club on the inequality throughout the wizarding world and how their generation should be doing something about it and how to stop shunning femininity and to change society’s view on which it meant to be feminine and female. these two clubs meant a lot to the witch as they were both strong issues she felt affected her and her fellow peers greatly and she wanted everyone else to be more educated on these issues.

girls like girls like boys do, nothing new ;; self para

her sexuality was something she had never truly thought about until she was sixteen. maya had always been smitten by girls, always found them to be pretty and wanted to hold their hands, spend time with them more than anyone else. the raven haired girl had never been able to figure out the source of her feelings, she assumed that they were how every other girl felt towards their gender, maya assumed every girl was fascinated by their girl friends. maya thought that her feelings were normal until she reached sixteen. 

her entire life she watched her girl friends obsess over boys, especially in beauxbatons and she would try to fit in, it just wasn’t something that she could understand. she liked boys, maya did really but most of the time she drifted more towards girls. they were softer, kinder, and far prettier. they were everything maya admired about nature and girls were like flowers or the sun or stars, they were always beautiful. of course, throughout her life she dated boys but she was never invested, never wanted to actually be with them. they were passing phases that she’d get bored of after the first month, they weren’t interesting enough, in fact, boys just weren’t enough. she was infatuated wherever girls were concerned, always thought them to be goddesses of this earth, the ones that were going to save them all, they were there to stop the wards and spread positivity, even the ones that didn’t seem all that kind. 

the first time she realised that her feelings towards girls might be a little different than some was at a party in her sixth year at hogwarts, a party for all houses that the gryffindor’s had thrown and for once, she decided that it might be a good idea to go. parties weren’t things that she always enjoyed but she went this one time because of all the stress that came with being a greengrass, it was her first year at hogwarts without desdemona and it felt a little too much. it was the first time at hogwarts that she had gotten purposefully drunk, a way to forget all the troubles at home and the troubles inside her mind. 

sometimes she would think hard about how she felt towards girls but it would lead towards her being confused and just deciding that it was normal for everyone else around her. maya believed that every other girl felt the exact same about their friends as she had throughout her life. it wasn’t something that had never been clear to her. of course, she knew that that you could be attracted to both sexes, all sexes, her brother was and it was something that she knew it was something there was no shame for but she didn’t think that was who she was. 

that night it became clearer. it became so strikingly clear that she was attracted to girls that it was hard to see how she hadn’t known it the whole time. there was a game of spin the bottle and maya was drunk enough to agree to play. she was drunk and it seemed like something silly, something that she could play to forget something for a short minute, maybe longer if she was lucky. it was her turn and when the bottle landed it was some girl in ravenclaw that honestly she didn’t know the name of but it started causing butterflies to form in her stomach and it made it something exciting for her, especially as she leaned forward and brushed her lips against the other girls. kissing girls, maya noted, was far different than kissing girls, it was better, softer and she wanted it to last forever. the second it was over, the slytherin girl had felt an overwhelming feeling of something that she couldn’t place, it took her a few days to realise exactly what it was. 

it was at sixteen maya lily greengrass realised that she had an attraction to girls, a strong attraction. she was someone that had numerous crushes on girls and hadn’t realised it until she was looking back on her life, she realised what she felt for boys was smaller than that but it was still there but her heart knew that she would never end up with a boy. that was the year she realised that she had been slowly falling in love with her best friend, that everything she felt towards riley was more than a best friend. that she had felt more for girls than she would ever have thought but it was something she would wear with pride. 

maya liked girls, if it was okay for guys, it was more than okay for her to want to be with riley, with a girl. it was okay for her to want to hold a girl’s hand and kiss them and tell people that that girl, was her girl.
