@silvokrent None specifically for MH. I have a Twitter but I actively avoid using it unless I want to upload a video from my Switch that isn't locked behind Facebook. My personal Tumblr is @rinokami , but fair warning as I am very politically opinionated, block on sight, and cuss like a sailor lol. I'm also frequently lurking on The SwitchCast Discord and I occasionally guest host the podcast there.

My dudes, I have been flagged since last March. I have tried to contest it at least half a dozen times and nothing has happened. I don't even get a response outside of an auto-generated email saying it was received. It's why I posted awhile back that I wasn't going to bother making new posts anymore. This website is utterly incompetent.
Surprised this blog's still standing given what I've been dealing with for the past year almost. Although they apparently deleted my icon and header....... Apparently beige maps are far too sexy. :P
So the design of Xeno'jiiva is very unique, but I think that the most interesting design choice was giving Xeno 5 "Fingers" (I guess). I've always thought that every monster has had 4 digits, even Elder Dragons. Strangely enough the only other creature I've found to have 5 digits, excluding mammals (human, cat etc) was Zorah Magdaros. I dunno, maybe I've missed a really early monster in the series that has 5 fingers. Is there something to speculate about?
Kushala Daora has 5 digits, they’re just hard to see sometimes cuz one is a dew claw. Zinogre also has 5 digits if you include his back-facing claws. So no, nothing really new there. Velociprey/drome used to have something like 6 claws on their forelimbs. XD I think it got retconned down to 5 later, not sure.
hi! i've searched your blog but haven't been able to find it (though the search feature drops results like sprint drops calls) but do you happen to know the main catalyst for a basarios becoming a gravios?? is it soaking itself in more lava or just eating more rocks?? it's just hard for me to see basarios as a 'juvenile' form when it seems pretty damn grown
I don’t know of any catalyst, as far as I know it’s just a really big babby. I mean, I don’t think it looks all that grown up. I mean, on it’s own, sure, but next to a Gravios? It’s smaller than Gravios and tends to have lesser versions of Gravios’s attacks.A fact that Capcom routinely forgets, given that they’ve had baby Gravios and “full grown” Basarios in various spin-off games. :P
That sucks to hear about this blog getting flagged. But, I'm just glad you're still enjoying MH and answering lore :) . I too am glad they have anatomically correct Wyverians, but I do wish one of the main cast had a huge nose like the Jumbo Chief! Although, I think that the First Wyvarians have big noses, it's been a while since I last saw the mushroom one up close. Is there any info on the little guys? I'm gussing that they're natives? It would explain the clay pot that Kulu-Ya-Ku digs up.
I didn’t think you could see their faces enough to tell. o.O I need to do some digging on the First Wyverians. Design-wise, I remember seeing a very similar bit of concept art waaaaaaay back for the first game, so it would appear they decided to finally use it. But aside from that, I can’t tell you much.

Not on this hellsite. :PSeriously, I'd have to find a new platform to put it on, which is not something I really have the motivation for atm. I'm not wasting my time doing anything serious on Tumblr if Tumblr doesn't care enough to fix its system's mistakes.

I am still answering asks and such, and I am always happy to talk lore, but this blog is effectively dead and Tumblr killed it. :P
In what I can only assume was a moment of algorithmically generated stupidity, Tumblr has flagged this blog as explicit. Meaning that anyone with safe mode on and anyone not logged in to a Tumblr account cannot read my posts, which effectively kills the entire reason this blog was made in the first place as being an easily accessible place for learning more about MonHun’s lore. I have been reporting this to Tumblr through the appropriate channels as being wrongly flagged for the past 6 months. I have received no response to any of my emails except for auto-generated form emails saying they’ve been received and that @staff will look into it.
On a happier note, I was invited just yesterday to guest host The SwitchCast with my friend KC and talk all about Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate on the Nintendo Switch. Hi, Rin. Hopefully you're enjoying MHW as much as me. Have you finished the main story yet and defeated "???" ? I've been holding off asking more questions just in case I spoil a part of the game. Anyway, it seems that Capcom has finally shown us what happens to captured monsters! Do you think that this is what happens to all captured monsters (Disregarding say, "a King wanting a pet" etc) ? Or do you think that it's more specific to Astera?
I'm having a grand time with World on PC (is it weird that I'm very happy that they got the Wyverians' legs right for a change? lol). And yes, I did beat the big boi already. The Old World also stocked it's arenas with captured monsters, so it's not just an Astera thing. I like that World actually ties the two together though, you HAVE to cap a monster before you can fight it in the arena.
omg it's great to see you're around! world is definitely full of a ton of juicy lore bites, it's sure brought up a ton of interesting topics and concepts in my playthrough thus far. Don't worry too much though because all the good aside, the multiplayer implementation is a bit flawed xp hopefully by the time the PC version comes out that part'll be nice and polished, and you'll get all the DLC that will be released in the meantime… hopefully!
Here’s hoping! Though honestly as much as I tend to solo things the multiplayer probably wouldn’t effect me too much. :P As long as they can get the port running alright. wtb Switch version pleeeeez (I know, I know, they said they wouldn’t. I DON’T CARE.)
hey there its me again, so recently i noticed that a lot of people on youtube have started to make mh lore videos , i would like to know you're opinion on this subject cause i do fear that some of them might spread miss information with the community and lore?
I haven’t seen any, but point me to some and I’d be happy to do a fact check. It wouldn’t be the first time the internet got it’s lore wrong. But if they do it right, more power to ‘em, they might even make my job easier. ;PPPThat said, if they’re doing World stuff, I can’t exactly check that yet, so...

Honestly, I haven’t been bit by the MonHun bug for awhile, Generations didn’t do much for me and XX never made it over here. And especially since I don’t have anything to play World on until it comes out on PC and I’m a bit loathe to make posts only to have to change them if World changed/retconned things (since I hear World is story-heavy.) These posts take a lot of work! XD I’m still on Tumblr, just on my personal blog rather than my sideblog. So feel free to keep sending Asks, I will see them. (I reserve the right to not respond for any reason, especially if it’s something I’ve already covered, but I will see them as long as Tumblr doesn’t screw up. :P)As for the dragon war, it’s still exactly as I said in my original post (unless World has changed things): nobody knows. It was something thrown out in concept work that Capcom has never actively confirmed or denied as being canon. It explains a lot of things, and it would be cool if it were canon, but we don’t know.
Hello the only reason I ever use my Tumblr account! I hope you're still around, because I have a question. Again. What's the deal with canonicity and Monster Hunter games? The main games are obviously canon, but what about Frontier and Online? What about X (Generations) and XX? Could I get some sources as well? Thanks. (and please, tell me those aren't canon. I can't live with Frontier's hunters, Hardcore monsters, Transcend, Adept and aerial style, anime-esk hunter arts and similiar stuff lol)

Canonicity: There’s not much from Capcom themselves as far as the side games go, they’re not generally considered canon (or at least not entirely canon) by the fandom. I don’t think the Encyclopedias have ever included anything that wasn’t from a mainline MH game, so that’s largely where the idea of canon comes from in MH. X and XX are kinda weird in this regard though, because they do feature so many canon characters and places from the mainline games, despite not having an Encyclopedia for them. Although if you’re crying because it’s too over the top, you might be playing the wrong series, darlin’. :PPP I think hucking about a sword the size of a small car is the very definition of “anime”, and hunters have been doing that since day one.As for the others:1. Airships, sand skiffs, boats, aptonoth/popo wagons, gargua carts, hoofin’ it. It was a running joke among my friends during the Tri/3U days that whenever we started a high rank quest on the deserted island in the water, that we would yell “GUUYYYSSS! I FELL OFF THE BOAT!”2. Hey, I have a few questions I'd like answered (if possible). First of all, was it ever stated what's inside a guild ration? Is there any lore regarding the "Lone Species" from Monster hunter online? Any clue why the ancient civilization built giant towers? And lastly, what do you think of the XX trailer? Do you think that the last teased monster could be the equal dragon weapon?
Rations - No idea! I’m going to guess it’s jerky, considering hunters’ love of all things meaty and the fact that its icon is a meat haunch. mmm, monster jerky…“Lone Species” - I’ll confess I don’t know a whole lot about Online. Like Frontier, it’s a spinoff and they’re generally not considered canon, so I haven’t bothered delving much into it.Towers - probably for much the same reason that any civilization has built large towers in the past: the ability to see over large distances for defensive purposes (ie tracking monster movements) or simply for prestige. Lesser towers are not an uncommon sight in the modern Monster Hunter world for much the same reasons. The fact that The Tower has become such a den for Elder Dragons and powerful rare species is interesting and makes me wonder if it was designed for that purpose, or if it was an unintended consequence of mankind’s vanity to build The Biggest Thing ™.XX Trailer - I have seen it, typically awesome MonHun cinematic, me likey. I don’t know if the new monster is an EDW or if it’s just Capcom getting more and more illogical with their designs. :P It does seem awfully… shiny… for something that would be so very, very old. There was an idea running around awhile back that I quite liked that Gogmazios was an EDW, that it was raiding fortresses for gunpowder as a poor substitute for whatever it once used for fuel, and that it’s lack of proper fuel and it’s sheer age was the reason it’s organic parts were decomposing into oily goo, and it’s metallic parts giving it its distinctive creaky rusted metal sound.
Do we know the evolutionary history of the monsters? Like whether the groups the guild classifies monster in are monophyletic or paraphyletic?
There is ~some~ information on the taxonomy of monsters that’s been provided by the various Encyclopedias, but of course they are all in Japanese, and there’s quite a few monsters that aren’t included, and even those that are don’t usually list the full hierarchy. (I intend on doing a post about them eventually, but watching one’s country go to hell in a hand basket does have a rather negative effect on one’s ability to write semi-serious posts about fictional lore. If you were wondering why I haven’t written a post in quite a while, life is giving me bigger and uglier fish than Plesioth to fry. :P)Suffice to say, most wyverns appear to share a common ancestor (with Fanged Beasts being descended from them via Fanged Wyverns), but things like the proper dragons and odd-ball creatures like Yama Tsukami are up in the air.I need to do some research because I’m sure they’ve released some 4th gen and Generations related stuff since I last looked, but I did hypothesize that Gore/Shagaru Magala could represent a link between 6 limbed Elder Dragons and 4 limbed Wyverns, with their front legs becoming more vestigial until they completely disappeared as their wings took over for terrestrial locomotion.
