I had some trouble trying to do a literal translation, and decided to lean into simplifying the words to its barest meaning, as one should in toki pona anyway.

*I could not find a toki pona translation for “Old Church Slavonic” so I made my own. It’s basically “Slavonic of the old divine” in literal translation.

Translator note:

I wanted to provide two varying translations: the first more close to the meaning of the song, while maintaining toki pona’s simplicity; the second, being a more literal translation of how the elements represent each part of the body. I decided to leave out the “en” as it’s not supposed to be a direct replacement for “and” the way we use it, and it would ruin the flow of the song if I added it to the last three lines.

regarding the dramatic soweli post, the word "pi" is only used to regroup modifiers, it doesnt really make sense to use it with just one word after pi

moku pona mute -> a lot of good food

moku pi pona mute -> food of great goodness

you dont need the pi in that post, nimi soweli already means the animal word already

furthermore (assuming youre going of the meme template of [thing] doesnt exist, it cant hurt you) i think youd be better off translating doesnt exist as lon ala instead of ijo ala

lon means existance, real, true etc.

ijo just means thing so what you're saying here is the animal word isnt a thing. this does make sense but its not what i personally would do. its up to you to decide how you yourself speak toki pona, so ijo ala is totally fine!! just a little strange to me

Fiat Lingua (January 1st, 2024)

Today's Fiat Lingua is very, very special. Jessie Peterson (@quothalinguist) created a 795 page choose-your-own-adventure-style document that will allow the reader to create their own conlang (with grammar choices, sound changes, and vocabulary) simply by making choices at key points. The article is linked to above, and the accompanying .pdf is pre-linked, so you can jump between all the choices and see what kind of variety you get. It's a small number of choices, but the varying results are downright shocking! All the work has been done for you, but it's really wild to see just how different a language can end up looking and sounding with a very small number of changes.

This may be the best free conlanging resource a new conlanger can get. Check it out!
