Mel nodded as Mia gave her all the practical instructions for what it would mean for them to leave the city. The fact that Mia had thought through all of this made it more real. And yet, having details like this was obscurely comforting. Mel understood practical details. Coupled with the sheer relief that came from the fact that they were going to keep the townhouse and keep some of their stuff here, it made it easier for her to straighten and let Mia go as she stepped back. “You know I bug Vaughan and Diana almost as much as I bug you, I’ll make sure your garden is good. Not that I know what good looks like, but I can use my annoying for the greater good. And yeah. I’ll tell you everything. You’ll be so clued in on the gossip, it’ll be like you’re still here.”

“You don’t even want to know how Vinnie took the news,” Mia said with a fond roll of her eyes as she thought about the lunch she’d had with her brother about a week ago.  Not to mention the conversations with her grandmother and then with her parents.  “There are enough people around here that will know how to keep it up that as long as you pester, I am sure it will remain beautiful.  Lord Capulet even offered up the gardeners from the Estate, but please, I don’t want to overstep, so only as a final resort.”  The Domme finished the last of her champagne and smiled at Mel.  “I’m counting on it.  And I’ll be sure to keep you in the loop with us as well.”

“I don’t know if I can be allowed on a farm. I’m pretty sure all the animals there will take one look at me and sense weakness they can attack,” she joked weakly, trying to lighten the tone. But her thoughts were whirling. Mia had been so much a part of her life, Mel had just assumed she always would be. And yet, with everything that had happened and all the ways they had been pulled, Pan and Mia would probably be happier outside the city. It was just. Hard. She’d have to think it through later. “But yeah, if you even thought you’d get away from me being obnoxious I’d have to correct you, so I’m glad we cleared that up.” Still, she couldn’t stop herself from leaning into Mia for a hard hug, face pressed against the woman’s shoulder. “I’m gonna miss you anyway,” she mumbled.

“You seemed to do just fine at the claim ceremony,” Mia teased.  Already her eyes felt heavy and wet.  “I promise I never even thought of such a thing.  But I’ll be back in the city for different things if nothing else.  Meetings with my publisher, family events, and maybe I’ll even drop in from time to time for lunch.”  The Domme wrapped her arms around Mel.  “I’m going to miss you too.  And I’m going to leave you a key to the townhouse.  I’m hoping Diana, or someone she trusts can keep up the garden for now.  Maybe Daisy.  I won’t be needing a lot of my fancy clothes in Aberforth, so you and Posey can feel free to raid my closet as needed.  And if you find anything you shouldn’t,” she laughed, “well, I’m sure you’ll tell me all about it.”  Mia pulled back, tears glistening in her eyes.  She’d always loved Mel like a sister, always had, but it never felt more important than right now.

Mel was halfway through taking a sip of her champagne when Mia revealed her news. “Wait, you’re leaving the city?” Mel vaguely understood everything else Mia was saying, about how busy they had been and how the farm could use help. But the crucial bit was that the woman who had been like a sister to her was thinking of leaving the city behind. It came as such a surprise she wasn’t sure how to react.

Mia frowned, nodding her head.  “For the summer... at least,” she admitted.  “We are going to keep the townhouse here.  Which was part of the reason why I wanted to talk to you.  But also I couldn’t just...leave Mel.”   Again her thumb playing with the ring Pan had given her.  “I’ve already promised Lord Capulet appearances at family events.  And Aberforth is not so far away for visits.  You could come visit us, when work is getting you down.  There is also the phone,” the Domme said her voice breaking on the last bit.  Leaving Verona wasn’t so hard.  Leaving the people she cared about so much... was.    She looked up at Mel.  “I promise I’ll be here, no matter what happens. Especially for you.  And whatever happens with you and Nic.”

Mel grinned as Mia came over with the champagne, taking a sip as she looked around the after party. “Well, I didn’t want you to feel unappreciated. And just think how much you can do with all that new free time.”

“Me, Michaela Capulet, feel underappreciated?” The Domme asked, fluttering her lashes, “perish the thought.”  She laughed then, moving the champagne flute just enough that the golden liquid inside rolled pleasantly inside it’s glass confines.  “Well, we might not have all that much free time actually.  Things have been busy this spring, for both Pan and I, and while the summer would undoubtedly be even busier for him, we’ve decided to spend the summer in Aberforth.  His family there could use the extra help and I think it would be good for us as a couple as well.”

“You’re welcome, Mia,” Ty said, enjoying the lunch she’d prepared. “Whether it is temporary or becomes permanent, you have my support. As long as you do not disappear entirely. Aberforth is not that far, I would expect to see you at some family functions.” He smiled, not worried a bit about Mia’s loyalty to her family.  “I don’t believe I’ve ever seen it. But I’m sure if Diana or Vaughan are too busy, we could have the Estate gardner check in occasionally.”

“Thank you again,” Mia repeated.  “And yes, it would be hard to stay away completely.  After all my family does mean a lot to me and as you said, Aberforth is not so far that it’s a hassle to come in for special family functions; especially if we keep a residence here.  But also far enough to ...”  the Domme paused, carefully considering her words, “to give us the needed space and peace.   To perhaps start our own family without the microscope that is Verona.”   She nodded her head, setting about to clean up from the meal she’d prepared.  “Thank you my Lord, I’ll let Diana know that as well.”

I’m not sure.  I would suspect with Pan’s family though that we better start looking at boys names and pick out a handful we like.  I think Gallo could make a wonderful name first or middle name.  As would Montague.
