i’m only going to say this once. the existence of seaborn mers wrecked the entire canon of the show for me and it’s 99% of the reason i don’t accept mako mermaids as canon.

i love the idea of the only merfolk existing being ones that the moon pool chose to create. ordinary people transforming into merfolk is such a romantic and fun and silly idea. it’s special and incredible. the powers choosing the person. the idea of people inherently being born with those abilities and the potential of hundreds of mers just living in the ocean with every power and magical moon rings is boring and makes the specialness of turning into a mer on a full moon just feel useless.

A while ago, our Discord server (lead by yours truly) reached out to JMS productions hoping to have Jonathan answering some unanswered questions regarding the shows and our beloved mermaid characters - and to our surprise, he was more than thrilled to do it! The Water tentacle's real name

So I was watching the behind the scenes of Season 3 and decided to pause when they showed the storyboards and as I was reading, I found out the production team gave the Water tentacle the name of Harry.

“Have you picked up everything?”, asked me Bella, standing next to the car door while watched me checking if I was ready. I took a last look in the glove compartment, looking if I forgot something.

“Yeah, I think so”, I answered, sighing as I lean back on the bench. “By the way, where Rikki is?”

“She said she needed to step out for a second. But I don’t think she will be long”.

I looked to Bella, being worried suddently.

“Rikki don’t like farewells.”

Bella nodded silently.

“I know”, murmured her. “But she will come. It’s your parting, after all. I'm sure Rikki don’t want to lose that”.

Bella had a kind smile on her face, the hands crossed in front of her body. She chose a amazing white dress for my farewell today.

The day arrived. I was finally going to the college.

“Well, how do you feel now, college student?”, continued Bella, with a malicious smile. “More intelligent then us?

I laughed a little, even haven't last long.

“Nervous, I think.” So I took a break, lowering my head. “I will miss you both.”

My voice it became a whisper when I finished.

Bella took a time to answer.

“We too, Cleo. But... but don’t be sad. It’s an amazing opportunity. You have to enjoy that. Being happy to yourself.”

I nodded my head, trying to not left the sadness affect me.

“I know, but... but it’s hard to think the dives is over. And I’m not going to have helping with the tail's problems anymore, and... and everything will change.”

I raised my head again, looking worried to Bella.

Now, she had the same expression that me, with the frawning brow.

“It’s normal to think that, Cleo... but, you already forgot that you get an amazing opportunity? You get a vacancy on an incredible college! And everything because of your grades on the school. You get a full scholarship! Do you realize how amazing this is? Stop to being worried with us. Me and Rikki will be fine. Follow your dreams, Cleo. Please. You know me and Rikki are rooting for you from here.”

I cracked a sad smile, feeling better with Bella's words.

“Yeah, you're right”, I said finally, tooking a deep breath.

Bella smiled, agreeing.

The things, whether or not, it were changing. That, probably, it would be the last time I would see Bella and Rikki for the next weeks. It was sad, but, the life is about that. People grow up, and the responsibilities change.

I just hoped that haven’t included my best friends.
