Crawlers Care: Miami Crawls joins 100 Black Men of South Florida Thanksgiving Basket Food Drive effort!
Please consider committing to 1 family by agreeing to donate $20.00.
You can contribute using your credit card at www.100blackmensf.org.
For the holidays, the 100 Black Men of South Florida launched initiatives to spread the joys of Thanksgiving to economically disadvantaged families and children. Since 1989, the 100, through its Thanksgiving Food Drive, has purchased and assembled "baskets" with traditional Thanksgiving meals for needy Miami-Dade County residents. The 100 delivers the meals to various social and Community Partner Programs. The agencies identify the families and distribute the meals. This year 1,500 families will benefit from the program through the 100's partnership with PUBLIX supermarkets. The 100 serve Thanksgiving meals from as far as Florida City to Miami Gardens.
This year, Kappa Alpha Psi Richmond Perrine Alumni Chapter has partnered with Representative Dwight Bullard along with the Agape Family Network and other community based organizations located in and serving South Miami Dade County. We have identified 200 needy families in the South Dade and Liberty City Areas that together, we hope to provide Turkey baskets.
Miami Crawls has joined in on the effort and hope that you will lend a hand as well.
Each family will receive the following:
The baskets consist of
- 1 can of Cranberry
- 2 boxes of Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix
- 2 cans of Corn
- 2 cans green beans
- 1 Gallon of Punch
- Dinner rolls (Brown & Serve)
- 2 lbs bag of rice
- 10 -12 lb turkey
Each basket is being provided to us for $20.00. We have raised enough for 155 families, but we do not want any family to go without this holiday season. We therefore need your help to meet our goal of helping 200 families.
Please consider committing to 1 family by agreeing to donate $20.00.
You can contribute using your credit card at www.100blackmensf.org.
Please email any receipts to [email protected] so that the 100 can designate your payment to the program.
Please also feel free to assist in the packaging or distribution of the baskets on November 19, 2011. Packaging will take place at the Overtown Youth Center located at 450 Northwest 14th Street, Miami, FL 33136-2636 starting at 7 am.
Distribution will begin at 11 am at the District office of Dwight Bullard at 10720 Caribbean Blvd., Cutler Bay, FL 33189.
Our Crawlers Care about the South Florida community and we hope that you will join Miami Crawls, the Kappa Alpha Psi Richmond Perrine Alumni Chapter, Representative Dwight Bullard, the Agape Family Network and other community based organizations located in and serving South Miami Dade County in this Thanksgiving food drive effort!
