Hot take I feel like people who say they wish spamton and tenna were still together or still "married" do not understand their characters very well

Sometimes it feels like people see them as two halves in this fandom especially when they're shipped together, instead of recognizing they're individuals with their own desires and feelings that clash sometimes

They both sucked for each other really bad in the end. Spamton kept secrets, Tenna was manipulative, both of them prioritized their own financial and social gain, etc. I don't think it's unreasonable to imagine they could be happily back together but they need so much character development before that could work.

Spamton probably goes through it, I think. When he gets defeated he gets time to reflect in Kris' pocket. I think he learns to be content with what his life is now and that gives him the space of mind to reflect on who he was as a big shot, too. Also, he gets to see how fucked up Tenna still is to this day, making him reflect and realize he deserved better. But he also learns Tenna didn't screw him over on purpose despite being a manipulative asshole.

Tenna could go through it, but only through staying in Castle Town. He needs to learn to find his own self worth and to let people come AND go. He needs to hear the truth about what Spamton was going through - but probably not from Spam himself - and consider how his actions made that worse, and how Spamton's success wasn't Tenna's to take in the first place. No way he can go through that if you feed his ego by giving him to Mettaton, who is bound to abandon him as well considering the internet will come back eventually. Battat gives him an earful about his treatment of his staff, and I think that's the first step he needs towards becoming a better person.

Maybe then they can get back together. That is if we get to keep Castle Town lmao.

Forgive my yapping, but I gotta yell about Spamtenna for a sec

For big shot Spamtenna specifically, something that makes me incredibly soft is the idea of Spamton spoiling Tenna with absolute over the top opulence.

Of course, you don't need money or material goods to be happy, or show your affection.

Tenna is honestly happy just being around Spamton no matter what.

But I'd like to think, for Spamton, spending money on Tenna is about more than material wealth.

He's an Addison. His whole purpose is to advertise, and make money. It's not just a dream of his. Status and wealth are etched into his purpose as a darkner.

And on top of that, my version of Spamton had already been homeless before his big shot era, in his Addison days, before clawing his way up to stability.

His dream to be big, it's not just about money, it's his purpose, his reason for existing. And on top of that it's about being comfortable, being unable to fall back into the struggle he faced as soon as he entered the world.

So, when Spamton spoils Tenna, it's not just to flex his wealth. Not just to prove he's valuable to him.

It's also his love language. Spoiling Tenna. Pampering him with luxuries he once couldn't afford. Giving him the comfort and relaxation he always dreamed of and craved as an Addison.

It's his way of sharing everything he spent his entire life working for with the love of his life.

And as an Addison, it's one of the most meaningful things he can do.
