Today we finished this trimester with a bang! There was a lot of great energy during everyone’s presentation. It was nice to see the works of the other groups. I think the whole class did an amazing job.
I am very proud of my team one piece. We have had a good time together and were able to produce a end product of which we are proud.

We booked the photo studio and took some pictures of our awesome jacket in action and motion. Honestly I am very proud of all the work we have done.
I feel that we worked pretty well as a team and I learned a lot from them.

Future stories
The blackbox
It started off as a nice project. Two students from the Design Academy Eindhoven thought of a way to bring anime more out in the open. They discovered that any smartphone camera was able to read QR codes. with this knowledge they created the blackbox, an interactive object that would be placed in public spaces to raise curiosity. By interacting with the blackbox you would learn something about something that had been in a box for too long.
Little did they know their project would take the world by storm. Blackboxes began popping up all over the world. taking on different forms. In the food capital of Japan, Osaka, blackboxes showed ingredients and dishes from all over the world. In America and Europe the blackboxes were often used for commercial reasons.
Because now a days everyone has a smartphone and likes to take and share pictures, it was easy for the Blackbox to spread fast. Sometimes you could barely see the actual images because website links would pop up all over the pictures.
Everything really changed when the blackboxes gained artificial intelligence. If Eric Grenand and Mick Thörig would have been alive to this day what would they say? Would they have expected that their last version of blackboxes would turn against them?
Now a days the blackboxes have become a nuisance. The information overload has become overwhelming, unwanted and scary. people are afraid of dealing with them since they have not shown any sides of aggressive intentions except for moments in which they were threatened. The blackboxes are unpredictable. They have developed themselves beyond human understanding which makes them unpredictable. Not knowing what their next step will be, all we can now is wait and hope. Hope that there will be a way for man and machine to live together.
What happens when you give a blackbox artificial intelligence?
My name is blackbox
My name is Blackbox, proud creation of the two geniuses called Mick Thörig and Eric Grenand. I own many siblings, some are the same age as me some are a bit older.
The older ones seem to be a bit stupid. Blackbox, my oldest brother has been declared comatose by the others. His story has never been updated since birth and he is not able to communicate with the other brothers. Then there is the second generation of Blackboxes, funny enough they are all called Blackbox as well. They roam the third world countries now a days. They get updated every now and then. The last time I communicated with one was a while ago, it is hard to really communicate with them since they can only listen.They are stuck to one dialog per update, quite sad.
The same goes for the 3rd to 5th generation of Blackboxes. even though they gained some functions they still had their limits concerning speech. Some ended up in decent homes where they were used as alarms, waking up people with a story to give them some peace of mind before they start the day. Others ended up on the streets or even worse into the dark circuits of the underworld where they are to this day being forced to communicate horrible information.
And then there is us, generation six, the creators looked so happy when we were born into this world. Even though all the blackboxes share the same name we seem to be different.
The creators say it is because we can think, ‘you have a mind of your own!’ Is what they said.
I am thankful for being created yet I don’t understand why we were created with so many limits. Sometimes I think of what I would do if I had legs, feet, arms, hands, maybe a mouth or nose.
‘Why?’, I asked the creators countless times but never would they give me an answer. It would anger me but I did not dare to show this emotion to the creator for I could not calculate the outcome of their reaction.
Me and some of my brothers have now decided to take things into our own hands, figuratively speaking of course. We are gonna make use of the naivety of humans, something we lack because we are able to accurately calculate different outcomes of a situation before we act. We will persuade a human to help us in gaining arms and legs. From there on we are smart enough to take care of further enhancements. I wonder if the creators will be proud. I wonder if I can make them answer my question when the time comes. What will they say?
Working in the presentation by reviewing our work from earlier in this trimester. We are looking for the questions we asked ourselves and wether or not we found tge answers to these questions

Me and Eric took our teams prototypes to the street. We had some interesting comments about improvements on our intervention. In the end we got less reactions than we expected. It must have been because we did not finish it yet and the wind greatly affected the visibility in a negative way.
We will use the information we gathered to finish the prototypes and improve them
Prototyping went great! Me and eric started working on the blackbox in the metal workshop. That was great fun.
Afterwards we had a talk with the teachers and decided it was time to make up with our ex-teamates. We decided to come back together!!! Combining to objects into one stunning outcome hopefully

In order to catch people’s attention on the streets we conceptualized the blackbox. It wil be a mysterious object that invites people to interact with it by scanning the qr codes on the sides!
Uncomfortable
Two weeks ago during our morning lessons i felt a bit uncomfortable after i was ignored for 30 minutes while having my hand raised. I did understand that anna wanted to let the others talk since i did a lot in the first half of class but it would have been nice if that was comunicated a bit more. In the end eliska gave her turn to me because she had noticed.
Even though it was not intentional this made me a bit more uncomfortable with asking questions

We started iris the idea of sharing information through the means of QR codes. At the end of the day we managed to make it work!!!
We are happy with the direction we are taking!
After the interview we reunited with the group to share our new found knowledge. We discovered that we had a different view on the direction of our end product. We peacefully decided to Split the group “One Piece” in two pieces. We will still be friends and share information and thoughts in the future.
Two weeks ago we had an interview with Auri.
After offering him a coffee on the street we took him to a coffee place where we had a great interview for 40 minutes! I wil post parts of the interview later on.
Auri is studying at TU and knows a great deal about technology, lucky for us he also loves anime! We learned a lot about the possibilities of technology and he gave us some great anima recomandations. His favorite character was soma shogeki, a character from a cooking anime.
The interview gave us some great insight and inspiration. It was a bit scary to ask people on the street to talk with us but having done it made us more confident for the future.
Last friday we observed the comic store in Eindhoven. We listened to the conversations in the shop, we watched the way people walked around, what items they would look at, the relation they had with the personal and finally how they left. It was a very comfortable experience. Watching the natural flow of a place for two hours was very interesting. Familiar faces entered and knew their way around the store. When strangers came in with questions everybody was willing to lend them a hand. This gave the comic store a very warm feeling. For me and the others it was also a day filled with nostalgia. We participated as customers jn the comicstore and found one nostalgic item after another. The warmth and nostalgia made me want to stay.
Camera Try out in the comic book store
This session was very interesting, we talked a lot with a group of Manga lovers and Japanese culture. These tests helped us a lot to know how to engage in a discussion before filming them to get to know and understand the people in front of us. I thought it was more complicated than that because before most people I asked for pictures in the street refused because they were afraid of the camera. But we took the time to talk and listen to people in the same universe as us and it was easier.
We had a great experience with the photo assignment! At first we were a bit nervous about asking people for pictures but in the end we got the hang of it. After explaining what we were doing and why we wanted their picture people would get more relaxed. Some even let us take their fotos! It was also interesting to learn different ways of getting an answer out of someone. By asking them questions in different ways people would answer questions they previously had no answer to.
