50 years ago today, Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. gave his iconic “I Have a Dream” speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, calling on every American to recognize the immutable truth that all of God’s children are created equal.

ok so. there’s an office administrator at my work and she has this cute little 2 year old named William. he calls me “Nick so tall”. like that’s my name to him, but he says it like it’s one word. “Nicksotall”. and i love it so I’ve taken to calling him Will So Lil’ and we get along like a housefire. i haven’t seen him in like two weeks, but his mom comes in to work today and tells me that recently he’s been telling his own bedtime stories, and he starts them all with once upon a time and everything. cute right? well to me it gets cuter, because he has been telling stories about Batman, Spider-man, and Nicksotall. and we have these adventures and climb buildings and fight crime together and i have to be honest, it warmed my heart so fucking much it’s ridiculous
tl;dr I’m a superhero to an adorable 2 year old
yessssssss

Shoot Shoot Shoot
I hear the choppers coming They’re flying overhead They’ve come to get the wounded They’ve come to get the dead Refrain: Airborne (shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot to kill) Ranger (shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot to kill) * My buddy’s in a foxhole A bullet in his head The Army says he’s living But I know that he’s dead I ran to tell the C-O About my buddy’s head But when I got there The C-O was dead And now the battle’s over The smoke is all around We wanted to go home But we’re six feet underground Deep in a battlefield, covered in mud Lies an Airborne Ranger dying in blood Refrain: Airborne (shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot to kill) Ranger (shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot to kill) He fought to keep America free He was a soldier like you and me Those silver wing upon his chest Tells America that he’s one of the best
Rick Riordan and Polynesian Mythology
OMG I just saw Moana and all I could think about was WHAT IF RICK RIORDAN HAD A SERIES ABOUT POLYNESIAN GODS AND DEMIGODS AND IF THE KIDS STAYED ON A TROPICAL ISLAND TO PROTECT THEMSELVES FROM NON-DEMIGODS
The Polynesian war dance is the symbol and identity of these islands. Even though they all share a similar purpose, the war cry tells the story of its people, each island and their distinct history. The adaptability of the dance to modern time shows that this tradition has not yet lost. For example, the war dance is a sport ritual in World sport, more specifically rugby. Many island nations in the Rugby World Cup adapted the concept of battle, challenging, intimidating the opponent before the game. Its easy how we see the transition from challenging the enemy in battle, can fit into challenging an opponent before a rivalry game.
The Polynesian War dance has also been found on the modern Battlefields. The Royal Tongan Marines, in their deployment to Afghanistan performed the Sipitau while on tour, to show their pride, strength, and their culture. Its use in American football also shows its integration into the American culture. However, the introduction of the War dance to modern societies has been criticized several times. For example, the NCAA banned the University of Hawaii from performing their traditional Hawaiian Haka before football games because some of the movement included “Slashing of the throat,” considered by others too violent and too barbaric. The idea of “Orient” and “Occident,” the viewing of the Haka produces stereotypes of the Polynesians as violent, uncivilized, and barbaric people.
The modernization of the war dance however threatened the true meaning and history of the Polynesian people. Many of its ancestral importance have been replaced in modern time with just random movements for just a sport ritual before games. However, the War Dance will remain truly the heart and soul of Polynesian people, it is The True Pride of Polynesia
