The first micro:µ:tech album is now available on Bandcamp. I think of them as post-minimalist micro-symphonies.
I Am a Nice Pretty Girl from the spoken word opera SPAM Monsters. Texts from unsolicited emails. Title, SPAM Monsters, by Groc.
There are two new Tainted SOUNDscapes on the website. Both recorded in Lincoln, UK.
If you haven't heard of the OP-1 synthesizer then here's the place to look for a general introduction. Made by the wonderful Teenage Engineering in Sweden, I've been working with it for a few months and found the scope of the instrument is pretty astounding!
Spam Monster
I've finished a SPAM Monster! It has a spoken voice part (based on unsolicited email) through mini Kaoss Pad 2. Then Kaossilator 2 and OP-1 cranked endless sequencer part.
Game or Instrument?
I'm working with Electroplankton for the Nintendo DS. Combined with Kaossilators I'm producing some interesting music with random elements.
2 minute SOUNDscapes, geotagged and tainted with other sound in the SOUNDkiosk studio.
The tainting often involves use of battery operated synths.
Presets
Having spent hours trying to find the right bass sound for my 5 Aubades I've now returned to using a preset on the Korg DS-10.
Why is it that the purists are so against this?
Korg DS-10 x4
I'm working with four Korg DS-10 'games' (Nintendo DS) as part of the massive Waterways of Lincoln project. These 'Aubades' are for micro-Mµ-tech and live piano. An Aubade is a musical composition of the morning.
3rd Symphony. This is the score of the Korg M01 (Nintendo DS) part. The other instruments are Kaossilator 2 and Monotron Delay.
So I went for Korg Volca Beats after some experiments.
Symphony 2
I've scored the new symphony for Korg M01 for Nintendo DS, just like the first one (see below).
I'm now experimenting with a rhythm track. Possibly Korg Volca Beats; possibly ims-20 on the iPad.
Symphony 2 - The Notes
I haven't written anything this close to drone music before. I recorded a 3 minute track partly improvised on the Korg Volca Bass at BPM56 (lowest possible on Volca Bass)...
New track on SoundCloud using just the Korg Volca Bass.
Random Walks - spoken word opera
We've fixed a date of 24th May for the first performance of Random Walks, a spoken word opera by Jamie Crofts and Jason Kilburn Evans. Music supplied by Kaossilators and Kaoss pads.
Angel Coffee House, Lincoln UK
SOUNDkiosk and micro-mu-tech 25
SOUNDkiosk is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
As part of this there will be a live performance of the spoken word opera Random Walks in Lincoln in May at the Angel Coffee House.
The music, created entirely using Korg Kaossilators with Kaoss pads, will be a micro-mu-tech project.
