You know how I said last week that I’d basically sell my soul for a full concert recording from the Tunnel of Love tour?

Well, the lovely and wonderful @zeroaddzero found THIS, in all its three-hour-and-fifteen-minute glory.

So this seems to be the only recording available of Leap of Faith from the MTV Plugged show (it wasn’t included in the broadcast and was considered lost for a while). As someone that absolutely adores this song, I’m so happy this exists, despite the quality being low as hell lol

My favorite part is at 5:30, when he’s being lifted out of the pit after the first crowd surf — you see someone smack his ass! And immediately after, he turns around with a big delighted grin on his face, points at the person who did it, and jumps RIGHT back into the crowd in the same spot!

Seems like somebody likes their ass smacked a little bit….. 😏

for the found family dynamic I think it would be fun to see max and Fernando as like father son vibes. Another one is I find interesting is max and Lewis’s dynamic because there’s pictures of them interacting positively and then there interactions of them that are negative and I was reading something on ao3 it made want to see more of that dynamic. (You can tell I love max lmao)

Father–Son Energy Activated

It starts as a joke… until everyone realizes it’s not a joke.

Max listens to Fernando like he’s the wise old wizard of F1, and Fernando talks to him like he raised him himself.

Fernando: “I am your father.”

Fernando absolutely slips into dad-mode without noticing.

“Did you drink water?”

“Eat something that isn’t Red Bull gummies.”

“No, MAX, don’t do that.”

He also gives unsolicited life lessons every 5 minutes. Max eats them up like gospel.

He’ll pat Max’s helmet before the race like, “Good boy. Go hunt.”

Max: Certified Golden Retriever Son

Max follows Fernando around the paddock just a little too naturally.

Someone once said: “Max, where’s your dad?” meaning Jos— Max turned around looking for Fernando.

If Fernando says something is smart, Max will 100% do it.

If Fernando says something is stupid, Max 100% stops doing it.

The Grid Notices Immediately

Lando calls Fernando “Father of Dragons” because Max is the final boss child.

Charles whispers: “I think he imprinted on him… like a duck.”

Yuki calls them “Dadnando and Baby Verstappen” on stream.

Everyone cackles when Max gets scolded and just nods quietly like “yes father 🙏 I was wrong father 🙏”

Team Radio Chaos

Max, mid-race: “Fernando said braking later here gives more exit speed.”

His engineer: “…we’ve been telling you that for four years.”

Fernando watching Max on track: “That’s my boy.”

Aston Martin: “…he’s not?”

Fernando: “Shh.”

Off-Track Moments

Fernando teaches Max “proper Spanish attitude.” Max ends up saying “por favor” (please) with perfect accent and Fernando looks SO proud.

Max buys matching Aston and Red Bull hats “for the family photo.” Fernando almost cries laughing.

Fernando shows Max old race clips of himself like a dad forcing his son to watch VHS tapes: “Look, in 2005 I overtook Michael here.” Max is genuinely impressed every time.

Silly + Wholesome Extras

Fernando absolutely calls him “chiquito” (little one) at least once. Max pretends to hate it. He does not.

If Max wins, Fernando congratulates him like a proud dad at a soccer game.

Hair ruffle? yes

Shoulder squeeze? yes

“Muy bien, hijo.” ("very good, son") YES, and Max nearly melts.

Max once introduced Fernando as “a mentor” but then corrected himself to “uh—well, basically family.”

Fernando denies adoption rumors, but also: “If I had a son, he would drive like that.”

And, of course, before I was in Formula 1 — might sound a bit funny — but, you know, when Fernando was fighting against Red Bull, I was cheering for him to do a good job.
