this idea's been floating in my head since months go, few times after i finished HoT (to cope haha.. ha)

what if trahearne doesnt get mercy killed, and somehow seed of mordremoth bloomed anyway, but it is purified version?? it bloomed into shape of vinewrath bloom but in colors of pale tree

going forward he was chilling in the jungle (cause he got bound to it) with what basically blooming mordremoth seed on his face.

Yeah the system we have now is objectively better, but I do miss the sheer comedy of your character’s armour breaking when you died enough times and didn’t repair it. There was nothing like fooling around in dungeons with friends, dying in stupid ways, and then you respawn to find your pants have been forcibly taken from you.

my take on a post-heart of thorns trahearne! a companion piece to my commander twins, posted here and here.

many design notes under the cut:

not shown here, but he is missing his right leg, just above the knee, and has lost some strength in his left arm-- both due to dragon corruption. he is visually impaired in his left eye due to an injury from the pact fleet's destruction.

the design for staff!caladbolg is a fusion of the scepter and the defiant glass staff skin! the broken glass and metal grip from the defiant glass skin felt fitting-- both the blade and trahearne himself have lost pieces of themselves in the jungle they may never get back but, against all odds, they are still standing.

the floating crystals at the top of the staff are chunks of aurene's first brand crystal, empowering the blade! he wears a smaller piece of the same crystal as a necklace under his clothes, (yvette wears a matching one).

in my heart of hearts caladbolg can change at will for him! it can be either a greatsword or a staff depending on what he needs the most.

he has a wedding band (^: (unfortunately covered by his gloves )^:) lukas wears the other half.

i have half formed thoughts about the maguuma's mantle being symbolic of how the jungle has changed him. do NOT ask me to elaborate i only have the vibes.

he is still a reaper, but he multiclasses with druid after heart of thorns. since pact brass have stuck him behind the desk in lion's arch a majority of the time, he learns healing magic so he can help beyond just logistics and paperwork.

a fun fact specific to this art and my drawings of the twins: its hard to notice since they're mostly covered up, but in the background there's the major arcana i associate the most with each of them! trahearne has the star, lukas has the moon, and yvette has the sun.

Thinking about interspecies families

Some very rough sketches. Been meaning to finally sketch out some concepts to make a ref sheet in the future for my lad, Aurenthir

I wanted him to have some of Ceara/Scarlet's face markings (specifically around her cheekbone/lower eye region, which I did poorly on him orz) since in my AU, he's her Podtwin

Thinking of giving him some reddish-leaved hair in his Sapling years (a bit based off the Ipomoea hederifolia aka the scarlet morning glory), and then his colors shift more to the Ipomoea indica (aka the blue morning glory) as he grows older

Still got a lot to work on, but I think this is a good start to the year, since I haven't drawn much in 2022. I do feel more inspired and motivated lately :D
