i just did some Quick Math and uh

the Funny Valentine fight is more than ¼th of steel ball run

If we count every chapter from D4C part 1 to Break My Heart, Break Your Heart part 2 it’s 24 chapters out of 95, which is already 25.2%

that doesn’t account for the fact that the first 23 chapters were released weekly and as such are shorter

also: it took 2 years for that fight to finish from start to end at least, and even then it still took Araki 6 more monthly chapters to finish the part

okay so turns out not only was araki able to consistently put out 30-32 page chapters while SBR was weekly, he also put out 58-62 page chapters monthly fairly consistently up until the Funny Valentine fight, where chapter lengths dropped to ~45 pages on average, so the Funny Valentine fight is actually slightly less than 25% of SBR’s page length. but 24.5% is still a bit ridiculous

now im gonna load up a website and figure out what percentage of SBR’s publishing time was spent fighting Funny Valentine

Steel Ball Run ran for 2634 total days. The Funny Valentine fight ran for 731 of those days. That’s 28.9% of SBR’s runtime

From the start of the Funny Valentine fight to the end of SBR is 943 days, or 35.8%. When the first chapter of People Fighting the Big Bad was published, Steel Ball Run still had more than a third of its duration to go through
