Oooooo questions~ I love learning more about you and your dms little guys™️. I would say a blanket question for each of npc would be: What question are the npc asking the players with their existence? And a less intense inquiry: what would their drink order be at a cafe?

“Short answer: I was competing with Tav x Bg3 companions so I had to go sicko mode
Big blanket answer: Knowing that everyone was using an oc from BG3 I focused on what part of that companion complimented their story and what parts made for a fun narrative.
Example: our first canon couples in Sola x Alvarin and Dev x Dorian.
Both Tavs romanced Gale but both npcs are different enough from each other and Gale. Sola is bringing out the kindness and optimism the Gale often boosts about the Tav and Dorian is smart, quippy and direct. Bringing out an ambitious and directness to steer the hero minded Dev to a kinder, well deserved future
Cafe part is easy:
Nero: says he wants nothing but secretly orders some sweet bullshit coffee
Sola: Hot matcha any weather it’s hot
Symon: black coffee and if he’s feeling special, a bread to go with it
Callum: orders the special bc he wants to know why it’s special today
Dorian: as a former barista something totally off menu but can be made with what they have
Giles: a water”
