Some little things I've learned over a decade of witchcraft:
If you are feel called to work but are tired/drained, sit outside. Take in all the energies around you. Nature can help charge you
Every witch does a little bit of a bunch of types of magic but sticks mainly to one or two in general. You usually won't be eclectic forever. You'll find what magics work best with you.
Never be lazy or cut corners with spirits. Always be respectful and always tell them to leave when you're done
When you see a plant or ingredient with a long list of properties, there are different things at play. Season of collection, the part of the plant, the health of the plant, etc all play a role in impacting which properties it will carry.
Don't call on spirits unless you have confidence and control
Be careful with sea/water magic. Get into it gently and slowly until you have the energy figured out because it can get out of hand quickly.
Adding a little pinch of magic into your breakfast can make a major difference in your day.
Your personal emotions/feelings over something will impact a work
Planting some plants is good, not only to have a garden, but the dirt helps cleanse you too. Get all dirty and muddy. It's good for ya
Not all trees are nice
The more you listen to your intuition, the easier it will be to tell it apart from your anxieties and worries
Incense is very easy to make which is why it's usually cheap to buy. But you can find a million tutorials online on how to make your own personal incense which is great if you want a spell to take effect over a while but also want to infuse the fire energy in it.
The more you work with something the better feel you get for it. Cinnamon goes in almost everything i cook and most of my spells because me and cinnamon just get right along
Your path is yours and no one else's. It will look like yours and no one else's
🌞 Sun magic 🌞
Correspondences
✨ The sun is associated with success, power, empowerment, ambition, health, vitality, joy...
🌱 Plants: pine, walnut, witch hazel, sunflower
🌿 Herbs: chamomile, yellow Roses, marigold, eyebright, laurel
💨 Scents: amber, cinnamon, citrus fruits
🔮 Crystals: tiger’s eye, citrine, gold
🍊 Food: Sun tea (that's tea that's been warmed in the sun's heat), cider, orange juice, sunflower seeds
-- -- --
Simple ways to work with the sun
💛 Prefer practicing at sunrise. For extra magical intent, wait until the sun is at its peak in the sky.
💛 In the summer months, try to sunbathe every day, even if it's just for a few minutes. It will help you absorb the sun's energy. You'll be able to redirect it in spells or rituals.
💛 Research what kinds of offerings are most appropriate for the sun, and leave them outside for a blessing.
💛 Make sun water by placing jars of water outside at midday.
💛 Wear its colours: any shade of yellow or orange will do.
I can't believe this needs said, but spirituality is not a competition. you should not be throwing around years of experience in an attempt to pull rank on another practitioner. truly experienced practitioners are seen without the need to boast
So You Want To Use Fruit In Your Spell Work

Blackberry: Lust, protection, healing, prosperity
Blueberry: Protection, peace, calmness
Cherry: Joy, love
Cranberry: Protection
Grape: Dreaming, prosperity, fertility
Grapefruit: Cleansing, healing, purification (eat with caution if you're on meds!)
Lemon: Purification, cleansing, removing blockages, energy
Lime: Love, peace, protection, cleansing, purification
Mango: Protection, lust, affection, love
Melon: Purification, healing
Nectarine: Love, affection, intimacy
Orange: Purification, healing, luck, love, prosperity
Peach: Longevity, wisdom, joy, fertility, love
Pear: Longevity, lust, love, prosperity, luck
Pineapple: Love, lust, protection, prosperity
Plum: Protection, love, lust
Pomegranate: Creativity, luck, prosperity, wishes
Raspberry: Energy, joy, love, protection
Strawberry: Success, romance, love, luck
Watermelon: Healing
Remember, everyone, always dig a little deeper if you're struggling and never accept the first answer you find as ultimate truth! Knowledge is power, and power is control. Safe practicing and blessed be!

💫 Why Protection Magic Is Useful (even if you have no enemies)
A lot of witches will tell new witches (baby witches) that they should start by learning and using protection magic. However, I've started to see a lot of witches say that protection magic is not as important as other witches claim it to be. Saying that they don't have anyone coming after them or an enemy in real life to warrant a spell of protection.
I think this may also be due to how I've not personally come across anyone really explaining why a witch may want to use protection magic all the time.
Now, it is true that there's no need to be paranoid all the time and have protection up 24/7. But here's a list where you may use it, find it useful, or haven't thought protection magic could be included.
An actual person -- This one is obvious, you have an enemy in real life or on the internet and you need protection magic to protect you from their curses.
A malevolant spirit -- They can come from your windows, mirrors (including tv screens, computer screens, and other reflective surfaces maybe), they seep through floor cracks, hanging onto your coats from outside, etc. Just like how you'd use garden gloves to avoid dirt up your nails being trapped there. Protection magic is just like putting on those gloves.
An energy -- Say you have a neighbour who's arguing with someone. They're yelling and screaming and it can be heard through the apartment walls. That negative energy is seeping into your home and your energy. So it may be worth protecting your home and energy from that sour neighbour's energy. (ever been scolded by your mother and your mood is sour? it's kind of like the same here.)
Your own spell -- Now a self-love spell is probably not something you should protect yourself from. But let's say you're doing a curse. It would be a smart idea to make sure you're protected before beginning such a spell. Much like how you'd wear an apron to protect your clothes from stains when cooking food. You may not always spill your food when cooking, but damn it is it annoying when you do and the stain won't wash off. It's the same with a spell.
Unintentionally -- Sometimes things can happen that's out of our control and it's a good idea to be a little prepared. A black cat suddenly running across the street? Bad luck. Someone got jealous when you told them something good? Evil Eye. Think of it as going to the store with an extra bag for your groceries. You may not need it, but isn't it handy when you at one point do need it?
Protection magic doesn't have to be elaborate or grand or be convoluted. Protection magic is powerful but also extremely simple. All you need is a horseshoe above the door, a little talisman in your pocket, a sigil for your car, etc.
So don't dismiss the importance of protection magic. It may help to improve your spellwork and your energy.
This is your regularly scheduled reminder not to fuck around with using herbs OR crystals in or on the body without doing your research. I'm talking actual study of both body and the herb/crystal in question.
"this herb is supports menstrual health!" Cool. what does it DO? Like physically, what? Be specific.
How do your bodily organs function? Could you identify the individual organs? Can you explain how they work? If that organ is ill or not functioning correctly, do you know exactly what's going wrong and what needs to happen to fix it?
What component of that plant is affecting the body and how? Does your body need extra support in that way? How do you know? What other effects can this plant have on other parts of the body? Will it have chemical responses to other medications, herbs, or foods you are putting in your body?
Some minerals can start sweating sulfuric acid in high humidity, did you know that? Other rocks and crystals can contain toxic elements and heavy metals like mercury that can poison you. Sometimes they will straightup just dissolve in water — that doesn't mean they disappear, that means the water is contaminated with whatever elements and chemicals were in that stone, and it is probably not safe to drink.
Look, I'm all for herbal medicine. Crystals and stones can have really interesting uses for magic. But you can't just start smoking random plants or throwing things in a tea based on correspondence lists, or you're going to poison yourself or your loved ones.
If you want to be a healer, start with learning about the body. Not tea brewing.

friendly reminder that your practice doesn’t need to be aesthetically pleasing or perfect in any way
sometimes your spell bottles will look like brown sludge
sometimes you’ll offer your deities a sour patch kid
occasionally your tarot readings will be nonsensical
often, you’ll get things wrong and make mistakes
you are only human, and i love the “witchy” aesthetic as much as the next guy, but it isn’t about appearance at the end of the day!
your practice can be messy and strange and imperfect!! don’t feel pressure 🩷🫧
some simple subtle every-day worship I do as an Aphrodite devotee!
always using rose-scented body soap
showering every single day to honor my body, even when i have no spoons left (i always feel better after, anyway)
lighting Her candle and facing Her altar as I do my nightly skin care routine
writing romantic scenes or poetry dedicated to Her (hear me out, writing is my comfort and coping method, it's not for everyone but i've been writing every night since i was 10)
wearing subtle makeup from Her altar that draws attention to my natural features (it's sparkly blush and eyeshadow bought from a local apothecary)
painting my nails a gentle sparkly nude color (Her favorite color nail polish sitting on Her altar!) and looking at them in the sunlight every day
paying attention to my body's needs throughout the day, being kind to myself by drinking enough water and eating even when i'm not hungry to keep my body healthy and happy
noticing romance in strangers, like a girl on the phone with her boyfriend on the bus after a long day; finding love and its energy in all that surrounds me
trying hard to fight my excoriation disorder and not pick at my face or head and each time i pull my hands away from myself, i thank Her!
avoiding putting labels on myself and letting myself be open to changes in my sexuality or romantic preferences—love knows no bounds and is constantly changing

Daydreaming about houses overgrown with climbing plants
Witch Tip: Learn which plant species are invasive in your area, because you can harvest as much as you want without worrying about the local ecosystem.
