Some inedit notes of the original screenplay by Vladimir Nabokov 4 Stanley Kubrick’s ❝Lolita❞｡ However, the script used by the director only for 20%, as stated by the Russian author, Lolita’s father, at the time of the shooting and output of the movie｡ The protagonist actress, a young Sue Lyon, 16 year old at the time, did not convince the writer, who would have preferred another player｡ We remember that the character of Dolores Haze is very different from that proposal by Kubrick｡ A small nymph that, after many years, corresponds better to the prototype of the Adrian Lyne’s movie remake｡ Nabokov's screenplay has been translated and printed in a second normal book (perhaps, a little rare to find)｡

Who is her?

Her name was Joan Caulfield, art name of Beatrice Joan Caulfield｡ Film, theater and television US actress｡

Born in West Orange, on 1 June 1922, Joan grew up in a rich family｡ Since as a young girl, she is delighted to be an actress inside the prestigious school she attends, before in New Jersey and after, following a transfer due to a reversal fortune of the father, in New York｡

In the early forties, after having established herself as a model and photo model, she was discovered by producer and theater director George Abbott and hired as a chorus girl in the musical comedy Beat the Band at Broadway｡

Blonde, delicate and elegant, the Caulfield imposed for her beauty and glamor among the main stars of the Paramount｡ Among her most famous movies is ❝Welcome Stranger!❞ (1947), with Bing Crosby in the role of a teacher of name Trudy Mason｡

Peaked in popularity at the end of the forties, Caulfield did not obtain the renewal of the contract by Paramount Pictures Studios and then she went to work mainly for the small screen｡

Joan was married twice and had two children｡ The second husband was dentist｡ Both marriages ended in divorce｡

She died in Los Angeles, on June 18, 1991, due to a tumor｡

It is no coincidence if Adrian Lyne has added this image in his Lolita movie｡｡｡ Dolores Haze browse this page when Professor Humbert appears in her garden: ❝ Welcome Stranger!❞, title of the movie were the co-protagonist Bing Crosby plays the role of a professor｡
