[some lore to go along!]

she was cursed as an infant when her mother lydia pissed off a witch of the Dark Magic variety. alice basically hosts another demonic entity, which presents itself in the form of additional eyes and mouths and spooky blackening her fur (and possession but sh). for the MOST part, alice has some extent of control over these extra parts so long as she keeps the demon sated, ie she can Hide the parts effectively enough to chill in public.

How does she keep the demon sated? eating lots of meat! the demon prefers very rare meat. alice is primarily carnivorous and eats a LOT. if she doesnt eat enough, she tends to have behavioral shifts, more aggressive, acts instinctually, etc. the less she eats, the more the demon acts up as well (although her behavior is also bc of the demon) so she has less and less control over the Extra Parts and they tend to get “angrier” (more obvious and Out There)

i have Yet to figure out what specifically causes her possession. one of the triggers is definitely hitting a certain point of hunger, and likely extreme emotional outbursts. anger is a big trigger for it, as is fear and panic. i think she can willingly give in to possession as well but, like, Why Would She,

due to her demon’s carnivore/scavenger tendencies, she has a heightened sense of smell and a much more ambiguous sense of taste. she can eat garbage. she also has an extra sense that helps her hunt down paranormal entities; she can sense them more easily, and follow a trail if she knows who/what shes looking for, similar to how hounds can follow a scent trail if theyre given the scent of who they’re looking for

“..Most people like makin’ a huge deal out of it, so I try to keep it quiet, at first.” She rubs the back of her neck, brows furrowing before she goes on, “The doctor I live with-- she knows. Helps me keep it under control, so I don’t have to tell people. Don’t have to warn people if it’s not an issue.”

Her expression sours, scowling with the last bit. She turns away before answering, “No, I haven’t unalived anyone.”

What's this "curse" of yours?

“Oh, that? I dunno the details, since, y’know, the asshole who cursed me didn’t really provide a user’s manual, but.. Somethin’ demon related, sometimes I get extra eyes ‘n mouths poppin’ up, something something ‘heightened senses,’” she puts the words in quotations, then pauses to squint in thought. “..And y’know, sometimes I black out and come to in an entirely different place doing fuck knows what.”

She shrugs. “Probably pretty standard demonic possession shit.”

heres a recent redesign doodle while i infodump under the spoiler]

alice is goddess of shadows, darkness, and mischief, essentially the inspiration behind the monster that bumps under your bed, as well as a Number of “ghost hauntings” that take place behind doors or in the closet at night. basically she has a blast fucking with people.

powers wise, alice can suck the light out of enclosed light sources and make it pitch black (temporarily), create monsters made of shadows, and manipulate and hide in any shadow. she can change her form in a number of ways, from a dark cloud of mist-like stuff, to a full on shadowy figure, to something more human (pictured above), and can manipulate individual parts of her as well

now STORY wise. she was born to lydia, goddess of greed, wealth, and power, and is basically a product of lydia’s ill will and darkness in her. alice basically dicked around and did whatever she wanted for a while, until her mother got pissed that she didn’t have control over her daughter, so tried to limit/control her powers by trapping her in a collar of pure light (them glowy orbs). it backfired severely when alice blew the fuck up, using her mother’s own trap to add to her own powers, exacting her revenge by trapping her in, a shadow realm or something,idk. in the process, However, she ended up permanently absorbing the collar into her, and while this limits her powers in some ways, specifically in how far her shadows can reach, and how long she can maintain use of her powers, she can also control these lights to an extent, capable of moving/dimming/brightening them. so basically, she can stealth mode, blind you, or spin them around her all spooky like. she cant turn them off Completely though. the process Also added those white streaks in her hair

nowadays, her hauntings have turned more to spooky “shadow lady with a necklace of light lurking in the woods” and such
