"Because you are in my temple. Surely even the most idiotic of gods would know that temples are the most sacred of places."
"Temples are but you seem to be blind since I am outside a temple not inside it so stop wasting my time and go pester someone else" he spoke and waved his hand at him.
A day at sea [[closed]]
Loki gasped when Njord spoke his harsh words, and countered what he had told him, saying it was Loki who slipped and fell overboard. He could not believe how angry the sea captain was with him. Why could he not show him some respect, why did he hate him so much.
“Perhaps you should have then, Captain Njord,” he retorted, as he raised his chin in defiance and glared at the captain. “Since I seem to be nothing but a burden to you. Is this how you treat your own son? I think not! Why can you not show me some respect, if you ask for it in return,” he sassed back, and once again knew he was stepping over the line, but he could not help himself, he was a Prince, and he deserved better treatment. Still, he knew that he would be in so much trouble, but he could not control his own anger, at the way the man was treating him.
Loki chuckled at his triumph when he kicked at Njord and he stumbled and fell. He really did not kick him that hard, but he supposed because they were on a ship, that it rocked on the rough seas. He was about to sass the captain back, but then he yelped and cried out when the man suddenly regained his balance and reached for him, threatening to beat some sense into his thick head.
He cried out when Njord grabbed at his leg, and pulled him up off the bed, then kicked him so hard in his chest he gasped and lost his breath. He held onto his chest and sobbed and found he could not breathe properly, for he had bruised his sternum with the hard kick from his boot.
“Why - must you - beat me - Ow. I cannot - breathe - you insane brute. Oh-Ow! Take your hands off me you animal!” he screamed in pain when his head hit the wall hard. “You are hurting - me - please stop,” he sobbed, and held onto his head with his right hand, which came away with a lot of blood.
Loki could not see straight now, as his vision blurred, and his chest was throbbing from the kick the sea captain had given to him, along with the hard hit on the back of his head. He sobbed harder and curled his body into a small ball when he mocked him for wanting to see his Mother.
“I hate you! You are a brute and a bully, even worse than my Father, Odin!” he wailed, as he glared up at him when he called him a filthy mutt. “I am no such thing! I am a Prince, and you are just a sad old man on his ship of maggots!” he countered, and once again knew he was going to be beaten for his harsh words, but he did not care, he was in pain and bruised and bleeding now.
Loki just smirked at Njord when he spoke of breeding his daughter, oh, he knew it was wrong and so disrespectful, but he was not showing him any sign of respect, so why should he give him any in return. He cried out yet again, though, when the captain stalked toward him and grabbed him by his throat. He gasped for air and clawed at the man’s hands, as he legs flailed below him, and he tried to get the mad sea captain off him.
“Let - go - of me. I cannot - breathe. Please - let me be-” he gasped out his words, as he tried to hit the captain in his chest to get him off him, but the man was just too strong for him, and he felt his life slipping away from him. His vision clouded and his body stopped flailing, as he blinked his eyes and wanted nothing more than to fall into the welcomed blackness of either death or sleep - whichever the Norns brought to him. At least it would get him away from this angry sea captain.
Loki was just about to pass out, but then he felt searing pain on his face when Njord suddenly punched him hard - on his right cheekbone, he sent him flying over the edge of the bed, where he landed in a heap on the floor, his lip split and bleeding, his chest burning with searing pain, his head bleeding from the hit to the back of his cranium, and now, his cheek burned and started to form an angry bruise.
He lay on the floor panting and gasping and spluttering to catch his breath, as he clawed at his own throat to get some air into his lungs. He raised his head and with a raspy voice, he spat angrily at him. “You - are - mad - old - fool. I hate you - I despise you - I curse you, Captain Njord,” he gasped out his words, as he fell to the floor, sobbing and panting and spit out blood on the floor, from his split lip.
Loki kicked out at the captain one more time from his position on the floor, and he knew that it was the last straw for Njord, as he saw rage in his eyes. The next thing he felt was being lifted by the shipmates as they stared at him with terrified expressions. He kicked at them when he heard Njord’s words and saw him reach for that dreaded whip.
“Unhand me, you brutes! You cannot do this to me! I have rights! My Father will see an end to you - No! Please - don’t do this! Please, Njord! I’m sorry- Oh-” he cried out when the shipmates held his wrists tightly and tore the back of his tunic right off of him.
He struggled to be set free, but it was no use, the captain was already calling out how many lashings he would receive. 30. “No, no, no, please, Captain Njord, I am sorry. Please, don’t do this! Oh!” he cried out when the man let the whip fly, and he struggled to be free of the other shipmates hold on him.
Loki cried out and realised it was to no avail, for they were also much stronger than he ever could be. His body shook and he sobbed louder, as he bit his bottom lip and screamed in pain with each hit of the whip on his back and the back of his legs and bottom.
Loki sobbed for his Mother and Father and Thor to help him, as tears rolled down his pale, bruised cheeks and his body shook from each hit, he could feel the skin opening and blistering with searing pain. A pain he he had never experienced before, for not even Odin had ever done this to him. By the time Njord was finished with the 30 lashings, he had gone limp and was close to unconsciousness. He barely heard the captain’s words as he told his men to place him in a cell.
Loki sobbed and cried out in pain when they tossed him inside the cold, dark, dank cell, with no light and no windows, just the cold floor and possibly even rats and other vermin there. He curled his body into a small ball on the cold floor, and tried to call up some of his magic to soothe his bloody and battered body, but even that failed him.
He was just too weak and too beaten to even think straight, so he let unconsciousness claimed him. He sobbed and his body shook with pain, and a fever as he wished he were back on Asgard with his Mother and brother.
Every time Loki woke over the course of however long he was left in the dungeon, he sobbed in pain, but never once called out for his Mother, as the captain thought he would. He stayed strong, well, as strong as he could, for he did not know how long he was in that cell, it felt like days, even months to him.
He was so hungry and so broken, and his body was on fire with a fever, as he felt a rat crawling over his back, and he yelped and pushed it off him. He looked up to see its red eyes as it skittered to the corner when he blasted it with a small burst of his emerald magic, and it never bothered him again.
Loki had slept on and off during his time in the dungeon, and a horrible sickness began to grow over his body, from not having any of his wounds treated properly. The wounds were left alone to fester. He was shaking and sobbing and so hungry now, his wounds pained him, that he kept waking up and falling into unconsciousness. It was later on when he heard the sounds of the cell doors being opened, and he cried out when the bright light blinded his eyes, he placed his hands over his eyes to block it out.
He sobbed when he felt strong hands lift him up off the floor, and whimpered when his open and untreated wounds stung with more pain, as he felt himself being carried out of that horrible place. He kept his eyes closed though, and did not open them until he found himself back inside the sea captain’s chambers again. He frowned and bowed his head to the floor, feeling ashamed and cowered when he saw another older man sitting beside the captain.
Loki grunted when the lieutenant dumped him onto the floor and he cried out as he curled up into a ball again, the light burning his eyes after being locked away in the cold, dark cell for so long. He whimpered as he listened to Captain Njord speaking his condescending words to him, but he was in too much pain to sass him back, and his mind wandered from the fever he had from his sick wounds, which had festered even more with disease. He could smell his rotting flesh where the lash had beaten him, and it made him sick.
He remembered Njord tell him to just apologise and he could be treated by the ships doctor for those festering wounds. So he slowly raised his head, and through his closed up and bruised eyes, he stared off into the direction of where he had heard the sea captain’s voice speak from a few minutes prior.
“I - am - sorry - so sorry - for - all the - the - things - I - I - said and - and did - I - apolo-apolo-gise to you - my captain - and to - to your - your - your family - and to your - to your crew. Please - forgive me - for my - my horrib- for my - my terrible trans-trans-gressions….” he gasped out his words and whimpered when even speaking for that short while winded him.
Loki started to retch, but stopped himself from being sick on the captains floor, as he swallowed it down and moaned and sobbed miserably,. He curled his body into a small ball again, and sobbed as his body shook and his teeth chattered from the fever he had and his festering wounds. He hoped to the Norns that his apology was good for the sea captain, as his body just crashed onto the floor and he lay there breathing heavily and trying to catch his breath and not be ill.
When Loki kicked him in his privates and made him fall to his knees Njord looked at Loki with the same look he looked on his father and grandfather before him , wishing him the slowest and most painful of deaths. "Your pleas fall on deaf ears boy" he spoke and stepped on Loki's calve on purpose as he headed to grab the whip.
"You disrespected this ship and it's captain , given more chances than you deserved to redeem yourself but you have proven unworthy of forgiveness or kindness" he spoke loudly as the shipmates stopped their tasks to watch.
The whip swooshed through the air, thirsty times it swung and nine knots hit Loki's back with each swing leaving his back not only bloody but bruised."Your father will not do shit boy, you are on my ship, a ship you you trespassed on and you are under my jurisdiction to punish. " The shipmates carried him off to the ship's dungeon, it was filthy and the wooden floor full of grime. Njord left him there for a day and a half with no food nor water to teach him humility.
Njord had him brought to his cabin and watched Loki sob with closed eyes. He grabbed him by his jaw "Look at me when you speak to me mutt" he ordered and let him go gesturing to the doctor to see him. The ship's doctor was nothing like the healers of Asgard, he was rough like all the sailors he cared for, forcing Loki out of his clothes and leaving him in only his undergarments , Njord restraining him from attacking the doctor.
The doctor spoke of the dirty wounds and ordered for them to bring in hot salt water to clean them and with a clean cloth the doctor started cleaning the wounds with the warm salt water than was bound to sting but it would clean the dirt and filth. Then Njord and the doctor proceeded to pick Loki up and force him into a bath , washing him clean from all the dirt from head to back to torso and limb to limb, the water barely luke warm. After than the doctor rubbed herbs on Loki's back and forced him to eat a bowl of beef stew making it even clearer that Loki would not be allowed to hold on to even his barest of dignity.
The doctor left as soon as Loki ate. "Don't move" Njord ordered and started wrapping gauge around Loki's chest and back to keep the wounds from getting dirty again. "You had to go and be arrogant like your father" he spoke although his tone was more loud talking rather than barking at him. "You could have just kept your head down , apologised and accepted you mean nothing to this ship and right now you would be scrubbing the deck looking forward to going to sleep" For a mere second Njord's blue eyes looked almost sympathetic to Loki , like he felt sorry for him .
Njord dressed Loki into clothes they found in Loki's bag and then placed a blanket over him. "Go to sleep , your fever will die down during the night" Njord ordered him and picked him up putting him to bed , still not showing gentleness but it was more heavily laying him rather than tossing him on the bed.
Njord stayed up for hours setting a course and studying it, they would be passing the edges of Jotunheim and Vanaheim for a whole day before reaching Alfheim but it was the fastest route. He went to bed just after midnight , laying down on the other edge of the bed and keeping distance from Loki's body.
A storm brewed, heavy rain and wind rocked and plagued the ship making it rock on the water, thunder striking the sea repetitively yet Njord was still happily snorring away taking zero notice of it. Up until the moment he felt arms wrapping around him and a small body clinging against him.
"What--what are you doing?" Njord asked sleepily.

"That doesn’t explain why you are in my bedroom. Or how you even got in."
"Do you suffer deafness?" he asked irritated. "I am here to warn you that your mother is having a hissy fit. You are here hence why I am here. If you were in the throne room that's where I would be"
"I know why most people don’t go to the underworld… It’s not exactly a welcoming place." Melinoe said in return, trying to keep herself calm, losing her temper over something as silly as this would be pointless. "Why is Demeter unhappy now? Mother is suppose to be going off to the mortal world in a couple of days, she should not be angry,” She gave a shrug of her shoulders at his question. “I suppose it does….For now.”
"It's not meant to be a welcoming place otherwise everyone would try to walk in and out and thus all the peace the dead require would be disturbed" he answered and took a seat. "Since when does Demeter need a reason to be angry young one?"

“Get out. Before I decide to pick you up and throw you into a lava pit just to watch you sizzle.”
"I would be amused to watch you try and then drown you in a puddle of your own urine. As barky as your father you are" he muttered and looked back waiting for his companion.

”——Oh my, what a surprise; what brings you to my domain, Poseidon?”
"Why is my visit a surprise to you Athena?" he asked and sighed "Your father, that's what brings me to your domain, we caught word of an unpleasant incident between you and Hephaestus and your father send me to find out if it was true"

"And what makes you think you are welcomed here?"
"And what makes you think your opinion matters?"
Adulterer's fee
The gods merely laughed amused at the sight of the naked lovers trapped in the net, some of the goddesses merely looked away or left the room , others shook their head in disappointment not to the adulterers but to the scheme of trapping them.
"Let them go , Hephaestus. You have proven your point but you are better than this. Let them go and he will pay the adulterer's fee, they both will be punished" Poseidon spoke calmly to the God. "Are you not above this?" he asked.
Another child
The wind blew harsh as Njord sat on the shore wondering if he would ever see home again, his exile from Vanaheim starting to get to him. "Hello?" he asked s he sensed someone near him , someone with a strong life force much like his own as he made his pear appear. "Show yourself" he growled.

"Uh..hello?" Persephone looks at the man standing in her bedroom. Which should be impossible. Hades allowed no one, besides them and a couple of servants to enter this section of the house. "How did you get in here?"
"I sneezed and the wind brought me here" Poseidon answered a bit sarcastically. "Your mother is having one of those moods where she is really unhappy and lashing out and I thought I ought to warn you and my brother to prepare for her demeanor." Poseidon shook his head "You have grown rude little one , a trait I never thought would plague you"
