Finally posting my Volcano Goddess design!! CW for mild blood and injury under the cut! :)

Bad first impressions.

Sooo, yeah! My headcanons on the Volcano Goddess are pretty fluid, but this is my design for her. I call her The Vengeance Specter of the Great Vowelcano, and she can shapeshift into a shrimp monster!! In most cases, I headcanon her first meeting with Magical John to have gone pretty poorly.

In this version, I think it goes something like this:

The Goddess was asking the village at the base of her volcano for increasingly difficult sacrifices, in the hopes of the village being unable to provide them and giving her an excuse to burn it all down. However, the villagers kept finding loopholes that technically fit her criteria, and she wasn't able to do anything without causing herself problems as a result. So, she asked for a willing mate, thinking that'd be impossible for them to find, only for the people to drag poor Magical John to her like this. She thought for sure that she'd be able to kill them for that, since she was very sure to specify WILLING, which the villagers clearly didn't listen to. However, since Magical John didn't want anyone else to die, even at the cost of his own safety, he stopped struggling when he figured out what was happening. And since she ended up being nice to him right away because she felt really bad about accidentally causing this to happen (not to mention that he also coincidentally thought she was gorgeous), he wound up being infatuated with her near instantly. So the magic she operated under technically considered him a willing mate. So she couldn't burn down the village.

Needless to say she was pretty pissed about that. Yeah... Things were a bit rough for a while after that, but she didn't actually blame him for it and she made that very clear to him. She just thought he had super bad taste. They actually ended up being really good friends... For a bit. :)

So, those are my thoughts on The Vengeance Specter Of The Great Vowelcano!! At least this iteration of her.

Hi, Yang! Great recommendation, thank you!! I hadn't heard the song before you sent this ask, so I'm happy that you did. I really like it!! The lyrics are really well-written and interesting, and the visuals are just gorgeous!! Here's a link for anyone who hasn't heard it:

I can make any song Magical John coded if I squint hard enough, honestly, lmao. But this one is definitely already in line with his vibes!! The flower imagery and failing relationship stuff is SUPER him.

Thinking about the lyrics and how they relate to MJ is genuinely devastating. The idea that people leaving the speaker is an inevitability? The late nights awake and the desperation for affection?? "People come and surely they go", which then changes to "People come and quickly they go" later??? HEARTBREAKING. I'm devastated. Great recommendation, my heart hurts now, 10/10.

My brain went to Chatical when I first listened to this, naturally, but the more I thought about after I realized it was about divorce, the more I realized it actually applies to his relationship with the Volcano Goddess as well!! I think that if Chatical WERE to divorce, it'd probably go a lot like the divorce explored in the song, with Magical John feeling neglected and unloved due to Chat's reluctance to express affection, but that thought makes me sad because I love them lol. I'd like to think Chat becomes more open post-canon and winds up being a loving partner in their own way, despite the more vitriolic viewers. But I've always really liked the idea of the Volcano Goddess and Chat being surprisingly similar. A lot of my Volcano Goddess headcanons are pretty fluid, but that's a pretty consistent part of my interpretation of her. So the idea that a relationship with HER would fail in a similar way to a hypothetical Chatical breakup is quite fascinating to me!! Poor Magical John though... Oof.

The imagery throughout this video is inspired by multiple other Therefore You and Me animations, and some of the backgrounds were HEAVILY referenced from Miitopia itself, so credit to those sources! Links to said animations will be in the description of the YouTube video. This AMV also contains some recurring imagery from my Breezeblocks AMV, but note that this isn’t intended to be a sequel animation.

The ACTUAL sequel animation is coming... Maybe eventually, or maybe never? Not sure lol. A storyboard IS actually drafted already, but please don't get your hopes up, because animating is exhausting, haha...

Anyway, surprise!! This AMV is also a small part of the reason I've been less active lately, lol. I've been too focused making frames of this to work on much other Chatical or RTMiitopia related art... Working on it was difficult, especially on top of the other stuff going on with me, but it was a ton of fun to make and I've been super excited to share it, so I hope you all like it!! Me too!! I've been thinking about that since the game got announced, honestly... We'll see, I suppose!! :)

Even if it's just briefly, seeing everyone again would be REALLY fun. The animation cameo was great for that, and I cherish it immensely (I still get all fuzzy just thinking about it!! The creatures!!), but seeing them in an actual stream would be absolutely wonderful.
