Mickey Milkovich is proud of the life he’s built for himself now that he’s finally out from under his father’s thumb. It’s not much, but he works himself to the bone to make sure he can keep it. Still, the only thing that makes him feel free is playing guitar, and he’s gonna be the best guitarist in Chicago someday.
Then there’s Ian Gallagher, a reclusive new student with a mysterious past and a guitar he doesn’t even know how to play.
Keeping his distance proves fruitless, and soon Mickey is in so much deeper than he’s ready for. But the more he gets to know Ian, and the more they learn from one another, the more Mickey realizes that he may never have tasted freedom before at all.

It's that time again, time for the Gallavich Summer Writing Camp!
What is it?? Writers and artists will team up in “bunks” and write a story together, paired with accompanying art (if desired!). Stories will post the last week of July - during our week long virtual campfire.
What kind of stories can we write? Anything you want, as long as it meets the following criteria:

Story word minimum: 10K
Please make sure your stories and art are tagged properly
How do I join a bunk?
You can form one with your friends! Each team can have any combination of writers, artists, and betas - we recommend 3-4 people per group.
You can sign up and be assigned to a bunk by the Camp Counsellors! If you would like to be assigned to a bunk, we’re excited to find the right one for you!
Got my group, now what?
Once you have your bunkmates assembled, please fill out this Google Form by April 10th to let us know your plans.
* If you are signing up as a team, only one member of the team needs to fill out the form - they will give us all of your information! * If you are signing up solo and would like to be assigned to a team, you can indicate that on the form too + your preferred role.
The week of April 13, we’ll contact each group to confirm your bunk members - and then you can start writing and creating!
June 29 - Posting Dates assigned
Posting Week: July 25-31; we will have two check-ins during the event to make sure you’re on your way and see if you need anything as you work toward your posting date.
We’ll have a Collection on AO3, so at least one person in the bunk should have an account.

General rules:
You’ll be asked for a prompt for the gift you want to receive. Please notice you will also be required to make a gift for someone else (hence the word exchange). Absolutely no use of gen-AI allowed! Having a Tumblr account is not mandatory, though it does make things a bit easier.
Once sign-ups close, I’ll be making a list of all the wanted prompts for you to choose what you want. This will be done in a first-come, first-served basis (if by any chance the prompts left are somehow not possible to be completed by the authors/artists left, the people who’ve requested them might be asked to make some changes).
If by any reason you think you won’t be able to finish your gift, let me know as soon as possible so I can find someone else to finish in your place. Please know that in this case it’s possible that the gift being done for you isn’t concluded either.
One last thing: you’re allowed to send anonymous messages to the person whose prompt you’re fulfilling to ask for more information (or just to be cute :) ), as long as you don’t disclose your identity, of course. If the person doesn’t have anonymous messages enabled or isn’t on Tumblr, let me know and I’ll send them the messages on your behalf.

Since there was some interest for a fanart-only masquerade on the last poll we ran and some people actually mentioned they'd have done something for the all-inclusive masquerade if they'd had the time, here you go, now's your chance! I want to see everyone participating, so go ahead and bully your favorite artists, hehe.
Reminder that this is a fanart-only event, so no fics this time. Also, sadly things like photo edits, graphics and gifs are not accepted for this kind of event, since there's no "trace" of the artists for the fans to try to guess who made what.
Quick recap: the artists will post their fanart anonymously on AO3. Posting will be done up to the end of February and the fanarts will be revealed on March 1st. Fans will have two weeks to attempt to guess who made what (less time because there's no reading required). Artists are encouraged to try to fool everyone!

Sign-ups
Signing-up is required and can be done here up to February 27th. For this event, sign-ups can be done up at the time of posting. Unlike other events, this is one where you will need to sign-up only at the end, after the fanwork is done. You'll be required to add your AO3 username and the title of your fanwork.
What if I don't have an AO3 account?
Then I'm very sorry, but in this case, you won't be able to participate (as a creator). For this event, having an AO3 account is mandatory so that you can post in the collection. That being said, a lot of people have AO3 invites, so ask right now and someone may be able to send you one.
Posting
Posting will be done on AO3 and AO3 only! This is because the Masquerade Collection will be unrevealed and anonymous. All posting must be done until February 27th. On March 1st, all fanarts will be revealed. (The one day difference is to ensure that everyone has posted before I reveal them.) The fanworks will remain anonymous until March 16th, when the game ends and the artists' identities will be disclosed (and your fanwork will appear under your account just like any other).
As an artist, all you have to do is, when posting on AO3, choose to do it under the Gallavich Fanart Masquerade 2026 Collection (info below). I'll take care of the rest. It's important to do so when posting and not after, or it won't work. You can go to My Works > Works in Collections to confirm that it worked.
There are two ways of posting directly to the Collection. The easiest one is opening the collection page and choosing Post to Collection.
The other way is, when posting, choosing the collection under the tab Associations > Post to Collections/Challenges.
Voting
Voting will be done via a new form, which will be disclosed only after the fanworks are posted. All titles will be displayed and fans will choose from a menu who they think the artist is. Voting is mandatory in all three guesses. If you don't know who to vote for, just take a guess. Also, you might as well guess three different creators to increase your chances, even if you think you're sure who it is.
Points
There are two ways of winning this game: as an artist and as a fan.
Artists are awarded 1 point for each person who correctly guesses their fanart on the first try, 2 for correct second guesses, 3 for correct third guesses and 7 points for each person who wrongly guesses it (that is, matches three different creators to your fanwork). That's right, you get more points if you're actually able to deceive everyone.
Fans are awarded 5 points for each fanwork they guess correctly on the first guess, 3 for each correct second guess and 1 for each correct third guess (obviously the points are only awarded once, so there's no need to guess the same work more than once).
Artists can also be fans, so they have twice the chance of winning. There will be separate winners for artists and writers as well.
Prizes
Winners will get boasting rights! XD Plus, of course, a special post for them.
