A Four Toed Salamander out and about in a CT vernal pool. You can see that he is working on regenerating his tail. Many people have heard about reptiles regenerating tails but far fewer know that salamanders take regeneration to the next step. Salamanders are able to regenerate not only their tail but organs, their spine, and even whole limbs. Scientists believe that further study into this phenomenon will be beneficial to the development of treatments for individuals with brain damage. Who knows perhaps we will be able to regrow limbs soon.
