Its my friend fwugradiation’s birthday! I covered my favorite track from his game UNDERTALE, which you should ABSOLUTELY PLAY!
Toby has been a talented composer as long as i’ve known him, but he has been a very good friend to me over the last year or so, and I hope he’s havin a good day!
ah I made this silly sketch animation.
if you’d to imagine some music going along with it, I have a suggestion: http://kanotunes.tumblr.com/post/20064951547/galosengen-galosengen-really-good-midis-a
♫ Don't they know, it's the end of the world?
It ended when I lost your loovee... ♫
..I suppose this probably would’ve been a better post to make back in April when the game turned 4 years old. I felt sentimental though!! Leave me be!!
I can’t say I’m entirely too familiar with FNF and whatever orbits it. I had a brief stint with it back a few years ago where I spoofed around with the modding side of things with a few of my friends at the time, but nothing truly out of the box, per say..
..Which makes it weird that I’m so familiar with this specific, niche fangame that had such a (tragically) short lifespan.
FNF Free Download (or FD, which I’ll be referring to it as from this point) was an fangame for FNF that in short took each element of the game, whether that be its characters, story, music and whatnot and spun it on its head, resulting in this beautifully weird game I’ve been head over heels for for the past few years.
The game follows Dude and Lady, parodying Boyfriend and Girlfriend, and their various mishaps through their town and set of characters, with a surprisingly complex (and admittedly out there at points) story backing it. It was unfortunately canned back in 2024, leaving its story only 60% realized, but what’s there is still a fun little experience regardless.
I probably couldn’t definitively put my finger on what makes the game so good if you sat me down and told me to; I could probably go on about its cast of characters, music, story and whatever..
..But if I had to give an answer, I think the biggest thing it has taught me whenever I look it at compared to the likes of its game of origin is probably how you can carve out your own thing from a pre-existing mold, and that’s something that has mattered to me so much as a creative as I’ve grown and refined my own skills.
It’s a beautiful thing that such a simple little fan project that spoofs on a DDR knockoff enthralled me with its world and characters to the extent that it did, despite how simple it was in retrospect.
I think a lot of that comes down to the story that ties every entry in story mode together as it definitely takes up the main meat of the game, and to this day I’m still heartbroken it ended for good on a cliff-hanger, even if what happens after has been in the public’s knowhow for a while now.
Hell, I even made a cosplay of Weeknd 3’s Buddy for a short con I was invited to in a spir of the moment decision, back when I was getting into making them. It was my very first experience with that sorta thing and I loved it!!
While the game’s fire definitely doesn’t spark as much as it used to, if at all, but I still feel it’s definitely left it’s mark on me and a few other people that I still hold very dearly nowadays. I'm glad I was able to talk about it somewhere atleast, anywho.
I feel like a tool saying this, but that movie felt very zoomquest until it suddenly became very free download.
They even play recordings from the voyager disc in the movie...!
I like it. I thought it was cool. A lot of cool imagery. And I really like how Clark parallels the backrooms itself in a lot a ways. Especially with his store being a strange "off" copy of someone else's store. Even in the movie the characters question why he themed his store around pirates and the ottoman empire.
(not an official version of the logo but it still illustrates the weird double sword clark is holding)
I know this is sort of an unpopular opinion but I think the still lifes were kind of lame.
I'm not saying I would have preferred the gmod troll face monsters instead. But logically it feels there's a jump between this place being able to recreate places and objects, and it being able to create people. Even if it is essentially just "remembering places" vs "remembering people".
As much as I rag on the bacteria things. From what (I think) is implied. I think conceptually it solves the "monster problem" a lot more naturally by them not being native to the backrooms itself. But by them being a by product of the human's interference.
Of course, you wouldn't be able to tell the same story with those monsters. So I suppose its a necessary evil that has to exist for this story to be told. It's just, the concept of "people but slightly off" is certainly not new ground if you've been even slightly evolved in online horror spaces over the past couple years. I just didn't really jive with it. Ironic, I know.
But yeah, leave it to me to look at a scary monster and go: "Well it feels like there's a logical leap going on here".
My first thought when seeing "bad clark" was to go: "hey that's kind of like pyramid head" and "hey look he just got devoured by his ego". So maybe I'm just bad at watching movies.
ALSO, one thing I thought was really cool. Is that there was a lot of hype around the director (kane pixels) being inspired by the portal series. And when I heard that, I didn't think there would be a literal Rattmann mural in the movie. I totally get it though. The imagery in those Rattmann dens really influences me too.
"Even his crazed ramblings are a rip-off"
I think it's interesting how the murals in the backrooms also reference Rattmann's constant moon imagery in the second game.
Rattmann's connection to the moon means something in portal 2. So I wonder if the moon imagery means anything here too? There is a lot of sun imagery....
I know the youtube series explored how A-sync views the backrooms as "the next frontier". Which is similar to how people look at space travel and more-so the moon back in the 60s. "It's a way to further expand." But that's a dangerous mindset. Especially if there's already people where you're looking to expand.
Maybe I am onto NOTHING. And it's just a reference to portal.
tbh yea the movie is great it really had a good showing of the backrooms and how it can manifest into the persons mind and replicate the persons memories but itll do it so much where itll barely resemble it
Happy Anniversary FNF Free Download
I still love this game man, the story telling, the music and the art always gets me, this fanart is suppose to be based off a dream i had a few weeks back where during the live stream, tyler had some some sort of 4th anniversary thing where he would show some songs from the game like some being new and some being from weeknd 4 and 3, and really it was the best dream ive ever had
i really love ur autobiographical comics and ur art style,,,
can you draw more?? <3
Sure man. Here’s a poorly illustrated rendition of a bizzare interaction I had with my friend the other day
Bro cannot be sitting there in his bloodstained hoodie getting into 17 car crashes a week acting like he’s suddenly so emotionally mature. Where did this come from. Since when was “go to therapy” a genuine suggestion and not an insult.
