So much happened yesterday in the Joker Out fandom, to try and summarize:
people getting upset at some of the band members for smoking (I live in the Balkans, most of my friends smoke and smoking is really normalized here, I don't smoke and I'm like that guy in the cave eating spiders)
16 year old American on Eurovision Twitter tried to cancel one of the group members because she doesn't like him, makes vague comments about the reason for the cancellation but refuses to post proof
the proof turns out to be a comment on AO3 that addresses an alleged rumor that no one in Slovenia heard of so it's clear it's not true, and even then it wasn't as serious as the 16 year old try to make it out to be when she was being vague
people finding out she intentionally vagued about it to make it seem worse, getting upset at her
the fan holding a Twitter space for like 2 hours to speak out on it
accidentally revealing she found that comment while looking at a fanfic about the band and 9/11
other fans holding another Twitter space and debunking EVERYTHING
16 year old deactivates after being called out for irresponsibly throwing out serious accusations with no merit
everyone getting stuck on the 9/11 fanfic
people going out of their way to find it and posting snippets of it
people looking at other fanfics and finding diaper play ones about the band
stans calling out the AO3s who write disturbing, fetishizing real people fanfics about the band (one of which had the comment that started the whole situation off
the band discovering they're trending on Twitter and being happy about it, thinking people were talking about their sold out tour and that's the reason they trended
fans telling them not to check their tags because everyone is talking about the poop and 9/11 fanfics and the tour wasn't the reason they trended
the band going for almost cancelled over a lie to being vindicated within hours
people making merch about June 9th, the day all of this went down
all of this happening while the main singer of the band is visiting his best bud from Eurovision and acting as his backup dancer at a concert, which otherwise would've been the biggest news on Eurovision Twitter in a while and people would've freaked over it if the whole situation with the 16 year old fan and fanfics didn't happen
oh and the 16 year old that started this whole situation also didn't even care about it, she did it for drama
