My friends I have a conundrum. I’ve been on Tumblr since Ye Olden Days but this specific blog Daddy-Treville is like two years old. I made it as a side blog to my Real Person Professional Art Blog, when I came back from a Tumblr hiatus. I figured I wouldn’t use it that often (lmao) and of course I ended up using it all the time and I hardly ever use the Big Boy Art Blog. I’ve always regretted having daddy-treville as the side blog not the main one but I can’t change it and also I lost OG Blog’s login info so I just carried on. Well now I found the login info. And the temptation to just rehab the original blog is so strong. If I move back to the OG, will you my beautiful beloved mutuals follow me over there? And will you prommmmmy not to scroll too far back to see what dumb shit I was posting from fucking 2012-2018 😭 This is especially for the like 2 mutuals I have that I don’t know IRL, we do not talk but we should and you are the sunshine of my gay little life. I wanna go home :(

My therapist just told me my problem is that I need to write more fanfiction.

This sounds fake but the logic behind it is actually really interesting? She said obsession with a new fandom triggers quick dopamine release when we consume all this related content--it's easy and addictive.

What we're NOT getting is that 'slow dopamine' that's more sustainable and engaging. That's the kind we get from DOING things that take effort but are ultimately rewarding.

So like, she suggested that writing fic and making fanart are ways to balance the quick dopamine of watching a show/reading fic with the slow dopamine of working at something that takes effort.

Moral of the story is you should engage in the process of creation around your favorite things. You'll feel better for it.
